SAINTS 1-1 West Ham // Post-Match Reaction
um pahars replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Got dragged down to their level and never managed to impose our game on them. Morgan's early yellow (deserved IMHO) meant he seemed to be treading on eggshells. Shaw's absence hampered us down the left, but on the other hand Clyne was good down the right. Without Rodrigues the set up didn't look balanced and don't think Lallana or Ramirez really delivered. Lambert too often on his own. Probably settle for a point, and glad I don't have to watch West Ham every week. It might make for a safe Premiership finish, but feck me they were so awful to watch (wrestling cum rugby). -
In no particular order: West Ham (up there with Spurs as best in London) Newcastle (went out with a Geordie for a bit and welcomed with open arms) Norwich (worked up there and decent bunch) AFC Wimbledon (massive respect for what they have done) Nottingham Forest (a bit of a Clough/Lawrie rivalry and always enjoyed visits) Cardiff (my valley days coming to the fore) Bournemouth Brighton and those who I struggle to get on with: Everton (84 & all that) liverpool (could almost be Everton) Swindon Luton (plastic pitch, knob of a Chairman) Oldham (Andy Ritchie et al) MK Dons Chelsea Aston Villa

Are you sure??? Sure Chope was only a two term MP??? And certainly not denying that for most of her tenure we returned Tory MPs, merely that they both got in with a minority support, which doesn't indicate a groundswell of support from the citizens of our City.
-
But such are the vagaries of our electoral system that no more than a third of the Southampton electorate voted for the candidate of her party. She never achieved a majority support in this City (either of electorate or even simply votes cast)
-
She was no fan of football. She was no fan of the football fan. Her involvement in the Hillsborough cover up demonstrates both these points. Therefore, a football match is not the place to mark her passing. (BTW, has anyone seen the Bernard Ingam letter about Hillsborough - Thatcher's press secretary)
-
You heard it here first, Plan B involves ground share with Brighton if Fratton Park deal falls through.
-
Didn't know the relevance either. Thought it might have been something to to with him leaving or working in the ticket office, but didn't realise they were creaming themselves over a draw LMFAO. Things must be bad if you have to stoop that low for your enjoyment. Expect the bitterness to multiply, just as it did through the decades following 1961 when they effectively disappeared off our radar (feck me, at certain points we had more of a rivalry with Brighton!).

Is extending the ground at the end of next season actually true?
um pahars replied to Roger's topic in The Saints
Would be interested to know where the notion that SMS was built with it being easy to expand/ build on to the existing stands came from, as I've never seen it mentioned anywhere apart from snippets on here. I remember SMS being a bit of a gamble at 32k, when Stoneham was around the 24k mark, so can't imagine anyone at the time was ever thinking about 40k+. Granty's correct in that Cowen would regular quote £3k per seat to expand, but he never went in to details about whether tht would be a bolt on to an existing stand or a knock down and rebuild of a stand (or two). Have any of the other BARR grounds been extending upwards??? -
Texted same thing to a mate earlier. Earlier in the season had him down as a bit of a Jim Magilton, but in recent games his pressing, energy and commitment have been a real positive.

Video of fans at Reading (and Nigel Adkins in the away end!!!)

did you recognise Jimmy H there??? -
But as the old man said, perhaps it has something to do with how teams come down and set out their stall??? then again, we really were sheite against QPR.
-
Thought exactly the same when JWP kept the bal way from Lampard and lobbed it to the ref.Certainly not in awe.
-
LOL Do you think Tesco's are launching their "The Greatest 1,000 Shelf Stackers" ???
-
The international space station the other night was impressive. I'm still amazed at how bright it was and how fast it was going!!!
-
Thought it would kick off after the game when we walked by 20-30 young Saints lads waiting in alley by railway bridge! My ever so street savvy dad thought they were all waiting for a bus!
-
It may be a knee jerk, but deary me that was awful. Poor team selection and tactics, augmented by a number of below par performances meant we looked shocking. And as much as it pains me to say it, 'Arry owned us today. He got his selection and tactics right and made MoPo look an amateur. Lacklustre all round and now having lost twice on the bounce to teams below us, I'm more than a tad concerned about whether we will stay up (if we do, it will be because luckily there are three teams worse than us!). Shocking.

LOL, I should make something juicy up, but sadly the shed was full of a half built vintage car (through the window more like a pile of old car bits). They said the third bedroom was full of furniture and personal possessions that they kept there, rather than put in storage (although I never went in, so could well have been the mad old Aunt locked away). Was only charged for two bedrooms, so didn't wasn't a problem for me.
-
Not true at all. Obviously depends on contact to to contract, but it is very common to have a room or loft or shed locked and deemed inaccessible for the tenant. I've rented a three bedroom house where the third bedroom, a cupboard and one of the two garden sheds was out of bounds.

Seems as though Benali is a bit less than super sub David Fairclough!!!! http://www.unitoneentertainment.co.uk/after_dinner_speakers_football.html#Low_-_High

And what about the Police/CPS not prosecuting them? Apparently they refused as the victim was too scared to give evidence. Firstly, it's a sad place when people can be intimidated so badly, but secondly there was loads of other evidence anyway, not least a camera crew being right outside the cell. I didn't think it was too cushy for most, the loss of liberty & loved ones seemed to impact on the 90%, but those hardened criminals (inc three protagonists in the cell kidnap) were taking the ppss. What would they have got on the outside for their actions??? I would have added another few years & made sure their original sentence was served in full (no discounts as they certainly weren't well behaved, nor remorseful). Plus it would have been served in solitary as they couldn't even fit in in prison life, let alone back on the streets.

Also went to the Leicester game and can remember being behind Mark Wallington's goal and you could see his jockstrap through his soaking, white, flimsy shorts. Pretty sure it was early 80s, unless there was another game and remember being given a voucher for the rearranged midweek game (I never went!!!)
-
Thats the game!!!! And just cross referenced with the Tom & Tackle murder and it happened the month before and the killer was still on the loose (in fact the real killer was always on the loose as he died before he could be found guilty).

Hay fever, Cubillas and Archie Gemmell.

Ipad spell checker is to blame. Normally have ITN to hand which I'm sure will have some sort of record of this fogged off game. Definitely a friendly on a weekday evening.
