I would venture that the right are actually more "all over the place" than the left. Rightly or wrongly, the left is largely pro EU (with some notable exceptions), whilst it is the right who are split. The EU argument split the Tories under Major, and it looks like Cameron is having the same problems!!!!

Is it okay for Saints players to dive and cheat?
um pahars replied to the stain's topic in The Saints
My biggest gripe in the current game is the play acting, going down like a sack of shtt when you've only been grazed, the rolling around only to get up and sprint off, holding your face when at worst you got a nudge in the shoulder, the general conning of refs. So therefore I am disappointed in J-Rod as its not something I like to see in the game. And as others before have said, my way of judging these events is "what would I be saying had it happened up the other end?". -
What would you do with the sandworks opposite St Marys?

Is much rather have a working port providing decent jobs, skills and a real living, than have a pretend docks and some chain pubs/restaurants/shops. -
I heard yesterday that he was out for the season. Story was that he might get a game in before the end, but they have effectively written this season off. Of course it could be a load of billlocks, but source is normally good.

Certainly not condoning or excusing sexual offences, but I do have serious reservations about what's been going on recently. I would have much preferred justice to be done one way or the other when Saville was alive, rather than the way it has been played out in the media. On the BBC the other day they referred to him as "The paedophile Jimmy Saville", but as far as I was aware he had never been found guilty??? I fully accept that perhaps the way offences were handled, judged and recognised back then may have made it difficult to get a sympathetic/empathetic response from the Police & the Judiciary and many crimes probably went unreported. But I'm still left with a feeling that the current witchhunts and a desire to name people, be it on national TV or Twitter a tad undesirable. As for the Jim Davidson allegations, I'll be surprised if he can remember all the women he slept with back in his heyday (the woman who had the affair with Gordon Ramsey was yesterday boasting of a 3some with him years ago, that she doubted he would remember!!!) and would have thought it would be nigh on impossible to ascertain what actually happened in a hotel room 25 years ago.

Saints 1 Arsenal 1 - Post Match Reactions & MotM
um pahars replied to Lighthouse's topic in The Saints
Was thinking same thing walking home tonight, in that whilst I think Arsenal wont be happy with their performance I do think the main reason was that we outfought and out thought them in key areas. We definitely stifled them going forward and Ox, Theo, Giroud & Podolski never got much change out of the defence. Put them nder pressure in the midfield and never really let them play, although Wiltshere looked composed and dangerous whenever he had his foot on the ball. -

Have to agree, not been Davis' biggest fan (not sure he offered us much up until now), but thought he was excellent today and had by far his best game for us. Thought our set up, tactics and the way we played was spot on today and although happy with a point also felt we played well enough to deserve all three. Some big performances out there today and wouldn't want to single anyone out as was a great team performance against an in form team. -
Have to say I thought Boruc looked remarkably chilled today, almost so chilled that it looked as though he was just playing for a laugh! Would be interesting to know how the players felt playing in front of him?? Did they feel as calm as he looked, or they were nervous as those around me in The Itchen?? Personally, just don't think it's good form to be chopping and changing in outfield positions, but think its a nightmare scenario with a keeper. Adkins is obviously unsure of who is first choice, so I'd be up for him putting the argument to bed by bringing in a new number 1 pdq.

Trying to convince myself that an away point at Stoke is a decent result but failing miserably. 3-1 up, then even 3-2 against 10 men has got me thinking we've dropped points here rather than gained one. Very, very disappointed and can only hope the players aren't as downbeat as I am at throwing away a 3-1 lead!!!!!'

Second only to announcing you're leaving the board, posting on another website about how crap it is , only to come flouncing back. But back on topic, I would love MLT to have a role to play in the current set up, as for me he is up there in the top bracket of Saints legends alongside Paine, Channon, Lawrie etc. However, it's simply not going to happen unless one (or both?) offer an olive branch and put all their ill feelings behind them. Is there someone with a feet in both camps who could bring this about (maybe something for Elvis in his new role as President?). And have to say I do also find the "mong" comments offensive and of course unnecessary. Just as I would deem it offensive calling another "downy".

It must be something about the football industry as Lowe is not alone in allowing his ego to go in to overdrive!!!! Over the years, English football has been littered with people who have somehow allowed their ego to rule their brain. Is it the high profile of the game, the money involved (but that's only a relatively newish feature and egos were wild in the 70s & 80s), the fact that stars aren't the bosses, the media interest????? I'd agree with you in that Lowe's early years saw some good developments and he dragged us in to the 21st century (straight from the 19th century given some of our set up at The Dell) with able support from Cowen. But then his ego and his desire to be seen as a mould breaker meant he lost the plot somewhat.
-
My dad was well chuffed with this, as Paine (along with John Sydenham) was his hero. I never managed to see Paine play for Saints as my first game was October 1974, but he is up there as one of our all time legends, so he's an ideal candidate for the role.

Im afraid I'm too honest to make the lead leak, so will have to get someone in and at for it rather than scamming it for free. So are you saying Southern Water did the whole job for you for £200????? If so, I'm up for that. Did it take long for them to sort out????
-
It's deffo lead as was well ****ed off when lifted floorboards and saw this big lump coming through the bricks?!!!!??
-
Saw that leaking thing and thought "how do you make it leak, when it's under the ground?? Who replaced yours and what was the damage £££££ Their stopcock is right outside my front gate, and mine comes in through footings under floorboards right by front door with 5m of Tarmac in between. So access both ends looks ok and not bothered wrecking old Tarmac drive
-
Need a bit of advice and some work done and wondered if anyone can help???! Need lead supply pipe replacing (about 5m from stopcock in street to entrance by front door) and then need some advice/work regarding the configuration of the internal plumbing (after stopcock at front door, pipes go up to bathroom first and then down to kitchen after). Looking for costs, options, workarounds etc Cheers Steve

Exonerate = to absolve from blame for a wrongdoing (with absolve being used in the context of freeing from responsibility). Mitchell was in the wrong, he accepted this and apologised for his wrongdoings, and these new revelations do nothing to alter that fact. Therefore they do not exonerate him. I personally felt his apology was sufficient (even if his subsequent comments and failure to be open about what he said made me somewhat distrustful of him), even if others like Boris were calling for those who abuse the Police to be arrested.

I think that despite the Hillsborough scandal, the potential similar cover up at Orgreave, the apparent faking of this witness statement and a few other misdemeanours, I still think the UK Police force is trusted & espected, and rightly so. It is one of the pillars of our society, and instances like this one appears to be, need to investigated and serious action taken if it turns out that this copper was implicit in twisting the knife in to Mitchell. The apparent actions of a rogue copper doesn't exonerate Mitchell though.
-
I thought exactly the same. Mitchell has admitted to swearing/being rude (would still like him to come clean on exactly what he said) and only ever thought it was a one way tirade, and there's nothing in that video to suggest otherwise. The other witness thing sounds like someone is jumping on the bandwagon, but that doesn't change the fact that the altercation took place and Mitchell was swearing and sounding off. It looks as though someone was trying to put the knife in, when in reality Mitchell didn't need any help!!

Duchess of Cambridge hospital nurse found dead

That's pretty awful. I'm presuming she just struggled with being unwittingly thrust on to centre stage. -
Like many people who raise their head above the parapet I bet Murdoch & co have something on her!!! (had a friend who worked at NOTW and he used to tell me how they had files on most "famous" people that we're regularly reviewed to see when would be the best time to print them). But like The Mail, you seem to have misinterpreted Chakrabati's point of view as her comments don't even refer to any of Leveson's reccommendations.

But whilst that piece provides more information and background to the story, I don't see how it in an way justifies or explains the linking of being UKIP members and therefore the unsuitability of being foster parents. Have not seen anything to suggest that this couple lied about being told being UKIP members was a problem and as others have pointed out RBC haven't withdrawn that shout either. -
Deciding on Public Interest already happens in Criminal Law, from deciding whether it is in the general interest to prosecute right through to be considered as a line of defence. And whilst there is no overriding Public Interest defence, the DPP Have issues interim guidelines on this, which all seem rather sensible and reasonable to me. http://www.thelawyer.com/clearing-up-the-public-interest/1012666.article The fourth paragraph listing all the examples would cover many of the worries you have. Public Interest already exists (and generally seems to work).

But that offers no solution to Jeffries et al. They probably don't buy these papers, but they still got slaughtered.
