    Ed Milliband

LOL very, very good. Certainly liked the sponsor comments. D Milliband not sponsoring being the funniest. (although the dig at the £2m house is a tad lame. In the same vein, I had a run in with the bloke from the TPA on twitter who was ranting about Mark Sewotka's fat cat salary - £90k. £90k is not even close to being a fat cat and those type of digs suggest a weak argument).
  3. You have a PM
  4. Almost. Not doing nappies yet, but fack me it's been hard work (and no sleep)!!!!!
  5. Thanks for the replies fellas, most appreciated. Sorry about the delay in replying, had my hands full with other stuff!!!!
  6. Bought a house with a kitchen that can best be described as "interesting". Looks as though we have sorted units, appliances etc, but now need someone to fit it (and sort out tiling, bit of electrics, plumbing sink etc). More than happy to rip out the old stuff, sort out skimming of walls/ceiling and put the units together, but would prefer to get someone in to fit the stuff. Anyone out there do this, or know someone who would be up for it???? CHEERS
  7. When Kevin Bond was here or just after he'd finished didnt John Bond used to run a greasy spoon cafe/caravan thing down on Nursling Industrial Estate???? With moving house today and missus due to give birth next week I have to confess my brain is a it addled, but absolutely positive he used to run it. RIP John Bond
  8. A fan on the board would have got you one!
  9. Put something on Twitter about this last night. I thought their applause for Petrov was a decent gesture and hope it gives the fella some support during these tough times. However, I only realised it was about Petrov after the event and confirmed it when I got home and someone mentioned it on Twitter. No one else around us (all regular football fans, inc a local MP no less!!!) seemed to know at the time what it was for, nor that there was a three line whip for us to join in!!!!! Therefore all the faux outrage and grief for us failing to support it meant that for me it tarnished what should have been a decent gesture from their fans.
  10. Hang on, what's the blue sign up the side say??? Is it Cafe Sol???DeffO Bar Med but was there a Cafe Sol in the branding as well???
  11. Thanks one and all, Bar Med it is then. Can remember a star/compass/sun on the floor and also they sold curly chips!!! Went to another in Bournemouth as well.
  12. We came up with Bar Med, but then talked ourselves out of it saying that was the name for the downstairs of Jongleurs. We're we wrong???
  13. Anyone know name of the bar that is now FYEO on the Hight St??? Reckon it opened 15 years ago??? And was yellow, orange affair. Sure it had Sol in the name but can't think of full name or if indeed Sol was in the name at all!!!!
  14. Having done this road trip a few years back can say that whilst the roads aren't bad, they can get busy (weekends LA to LV particularly so) and those long drives are hard work. Also didn't help being diverted due to a sudden downpour in August on the drive back from Vegas and taking hours to get to LA. My favourite part of the road trip was following PCH1 all the way from San Fran to LA (Newport Beach) and taking it easy in Big Sur, Santa Barbara, Moterrey etc. Lovely scenery on the drive. We were on the go for a full two weeks and it eventually got very tiring. That said, I do think we were burning the candle at both ends and not giving ourselves enough time to recover and enjoy the places we were passing through. Needed a week+ by the pool in Huntington Beach courtesy of Tijuana Tim to recover.
  15. Saw Bates pull the stump out and that came up in the discussion but we all thought (a) Carter looked in his ground and (b) that would still be stumped. Carter never looked to run, but thought he should have at least waited until Woakes had got down his end and then at least tried to get up the bowlers end as anything could have happened, poor throw, poor catch, stumps broken etc. At the end Adams was trying to get ball up bowlers end to run Woakes out, but assume Carter not attempting a run meant the ball became dead. Just seen BBC score card has now changed to not out, so presume in the commotion last night BBC got it wrong
  16. Football season starts in earnest now (and that's not because we've got our hard games out of the way). Two fantastic finals and SKY must be loving us. The game swung to and fro yesterday and at differing points thought each team had it in the bag. Fair play to Warkwickshire as to chase down 244 was a decent effort, but all the plaudits should go to a Hampshire side who never gave up. We had our presentation night up at Mottisfont CC, so was a great end to a good all round season. One thing we were talking about is that the scorecard on the BBC had Carter as run out, but we couldn't see how. He looked in his crease when Bates whipped the bails off (would have been stumped anyway not run out), and Carter didn't the attempt a run.
  17. Hillsbrough has been regularly posted about on here and the ignorance displayed by so many in those threads was awful. However, on the day when the entire story emerges it is shameful to see the same myths, lies and falsehoods being peddled by some on here (& if anyone wants to query the power of the press and the establishment, they only need to look at Hillsborough to see how it possible to rewrite history and get people to believe any old shtt). As Wurzel mentions, I stood on that terrace with 8,000 other Saints fans in 84. It could have happened to any one of us. Some people should fcck off this thread pronto.
  18. An interesting point. Having been on board The Fighting I in New York and thinking of our ships (Victory, Warrior, Belfast, Cavalier) would have thought a ship from The Falklands would have been saved (or have I missed one)?? Hermes, Fearless, Intrepid, Stromness, A destroyer, frigate or RFA would all have been in with a shout. Can only assume it costs too much to remember our history!!!!
  19. Just finishedbBenson's Scram and got halfway through Gardiner's Yompers today. Both as engrossing as Through Fire and Water. Have you thought about writing a book from a personal perspective??? Brother worked at Vospers at the time of the Falklands and also worked on HMS Southampton & Nottingham (pretty sure the 79 League Cup team had a tour of one or both of them prior to the game). Can remember the Abdul Aziz, but wasn't that in the Old Docks near Dock Gate 4??? He was drafted on to QEII to help convert her to a troop carrier (pads on the pools etc).
  20. Something like 200 in the Everton pen that night, of whom 150 were Saints fans looking for revenge (many wearing their "trophy" headwear they had relieved from the Scousers the weekend previously!!!).
  21. Nothing from the 1973-2012 period comes close to Everton in the 84 Semi Final. A combination of being in touching distance of a double, an easy final against Watford or Plymouth, a time when Saints probably were my life etc etc etc meant that Adrian Heaths downward spawny header is forever etched in my memory. Wasnt that keen on Everton before that and are now up on the podium of teams I still can't stand (along with Oldham for reasons already mentioned!!)
  22. Duplicate
  23. What's worse;Getting the TV turned over when a "rivals" face appears on the screen and also banning the use of a transferred season ticket due to an ongoing feud?, . OR. . Publicly tweeting about the above two issues?. . OR? . Are they said to be just as bad as each other? . Cortese's actions appear petty, but are they just the response to an earlier slight, or is it Matty's response that is petty when he should just have risen above it?Personally think neither come out of these spats with any credit and it is time for the squabbling to stop.
  24. Those dark January evenings have a lot to answer for!!! From memory I think I was celebrating stuffing Forest at their place!!!
  25. Enjoyed the thread DPM as we only have 6 weeks to go ourselves!! Interesting about baby sleeping in same room as all advice we're getting from the midwives is that little one should be in with us for the first few months.
