Have to say I'm in your camp Hypo as despite it being a total clusterfck I just think the footballing authorities will let them slip away.

Half of that figure went in legal costs as it took so much litigation and pressure for NI to finally admit their culpability. As for the rest, well if a newspaper was hacking my 16 year old daughters phone (still whilst Church was a child star and not yet an adult) and eavesdropping on personal messages, some of which were very sensitive, then I would be incandescent with rage. Then throw in publicising my mothers attempted suicides and other personal issues, then I'm afraid I would want the book thrown at them. How much for your 16 year old daughter's privacy and the privacy of your mother???? £300k doesn't even come close!!!

Without sounding too snobbish, I'm not sure popularity is always the best measure of something!!!!! Given what has emerged from Leveson today, then I have big issues over the malign influence of sections of the press (and the "this is in the past" response is about as convincing and sincere as the "lone rogue reporter" response). And there's nothing party politicial in there as the last Labour Government were just as much in cahoots and giving as much deference as the current Conservative one to undemocratic and vested interests.

I agree that the NHS is a political minefield given its sacred cow status, but I also think it is something that we should rightly be proud of and something we need to be very careful with. The recent Commonwealth fund seems to have been overlooked by those critical of the current performance of the NHS. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/healthnews/8877412/NHS-among-best-health-care-systems-in-the-world.html The problem with Lansley's clusterfck is that no one is really sure what he is trying to achieve, no one seems to have any idea what exactly the NHS will look like after his reforms and no one really seems to be in real favour of it (apart from Lansley and those who have backed themselves in to a corner with their misplaced loyalty). The Conservatives don't have a mandate for such a reorganisation and they appear to be going against their pre election promise of "no top down NHS reorganisation", so it's not surprising there is opposition to these ill thought out plans. I think the NHS has to move with the times and it cannot be immune to the economic pressures affecting every other institution, but this reorganisation does not seem to have been well thought out and should be shelved and replaced. Also not sure about using the BMAs stance 60+ years ago as a reason for not listening to them now, as it would be just as ridiculous to highlight how the Conservatives (and the likes of Mr and Mrs Docker) were so opposed to the creation of the NHS

Not sure I would say won, more that they would have been deemed to have made the right decision (saying they've won makes it sound as though it is some sort of a battle, although I concede that the odd person seems to view it as a battle!!!!). However, I'm not sure it can or even should be measured in such narrow economic parameters. Some would argue that a fuller stadium, even if at slightly reduced ££££s is an advantage when playing at home, whilst others would point to the long term view of catching and retaining people as being a sensible approach. I think the Club have got things right, such as free tickets for U11s in the Chapel (great idea for catching them young), but also think they got other things wrong (initial season ticket selling was poorly handled). It's obviously not an easy job and everyone will have an opinion.

I had the same problem with Stu, it's "ph" not "v"!!!!!!!!! Rooooooooaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrr

Deary me fella, you really are struggling tonight. You're not going to have another breakdown are you???? You need to work out whether you're here for the **** take or whether you're serious. It's so confusing having to cope with your split personality
-
You're not taking this web thing too serious are you????
-
Borrow one, or just don't use the kid ticket
-
If you're that desperate then they were still selling an adult and child pair in the family stand when I was at the ticket office today.
-
Big sideburns and looked a tad overweight????
-
I'm not defending Taylor (he deserved to walk), nor defending Noble who dived, but Sharp did go a bit headless for a bit and squaring up to Noble was somewhat provocative.
-
A resounding 2-0 win against a team who had a bit of form, with a decent performance to boot, and off the top of my head, Keepers good save from Lambert's first time shot Lambert's flick on being cleared off the line Good save from Sharp Reaction save from Lallana Connolly effort under pressure going wide Disallowed goal As a bit of a critic of our recent form, I have to say Saturdays performance was pretty decent and close to our early season form which saw plenty of goals. New signings and players returning from injury mean we're hopefully back to our best.

I think it would be safe to say that Pap was running rings around the three of you (strange trio BTW, a sort of my enemies enemy is my friend alliance, teaming up with anyone in a vain hope of winning the argument).

So drama queen histrionics, flouncing around saying how rubbish this place & the posters are and how you're never going to post here again, only to return a week or so later is comedy. Comedy? Comedy? Pah, you were all upset and just can't control yourself.
-
You sound all Dunesque in your protestations as he too tried to lay that same charge at me before having to retreat with his tail firmly between his legs. Feel free to do the same. I did indeed take a sojourn from here, but I quietly sloped off (only PMing a few friendly acquaintances on here to say tara) and I certainly didn't announce my retirement on here, or on other boards and nor did I have a breakdown telling everyone how terrible this place is, only to return a fortnight later. I do find it somewhat vulgar and even hypocritical to announce your departure in a drama queen sign off manner and/or publicly slag off a forum only to return as prolific as ever as if nothing has been said. I wouldn't say you're up there in the Stu retirement stakes, but your outbursts on the UI whilst banned were comical. HTH
-
To be fair to Stu he wasn't that much of a dinlo to rank us up there with Villa, he only said we were the same as Everton. And sorry but your exiled rants on the UI were no different to Stu's drama queen retirements only to be reneged on as you can't help but post on here. You may think this place can't exist without you, but history has shown it still rolls on when individuals (good, bad & ugly) slope off elsewhere. It's you that can't resist it LOL!!!!!!!
-
LOL Did I really imagine Stu morphing in to Matt Le God??? Almost as bad as your breakdown on here (before you teamed up with Dune and made a comeback)
-
We're on a par with Everton though [sic]!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the link. Didn't look like a penalty (an honest Jos on Twitter said his earlier handball was a penalty, but the Sharp trip wasn't). Poor gamesmanship from Noble. Taylor should never have raised his hands nor thrust them at Sharp (always going to get sent off for that in the modern game). Sharp didn't hold his head, but did seem to go down a bit easy, before realising he really shouldn't be making too much of a meal of it. Some decent chances for both sides.

I'm afraid I would have to say your last sentence there is not worthy of a moderator. You'd do well to edit it (and this reply). As for some of this guys claims, well as you say his attacks on wider Islam due to the actions of a minority are unwise, unhelpful and unnecessary. It would be like hating Christians due to the actions of the congregation of Westboro Church or the other "nutty" minorities that reside in every society or culture. I might give him a little bit of my time if he limited his attacks to the minority of Islamic extremists, but even then I'm not sure I would want him to replace the rule of law in countering them as we don't need his boot boys running around with their No Surrender and In-ger-lund nonsense. The EDL and Islamic extremists exist in a symbiotic relationship of hate and destructiveness.

Someone's been annoying the Argentinians by sending nasty boats down south. Saints have rediscovered some form, and look to be back to their early season form. Brum look on form and are up there with West Ham as our biggest rivals. A couple of good signings plus returning players have us looking stronger. It's been cold. Turkish got a ban, had a right strop on the Ugly Inside, called everyone dinlos, said hed never post on here again, but returned. Dune sort of copied him, saying this place was awful, hes leaing etc but carried on posting. The Portsmuff saga just drags on and on with nothing really happening, although today there are rumblings of administration. Other that that, same old, same old.

LOL must have been passing about the same time. 'twas in the gardens of the house behind the away endif I remember correctly! On the subject of quick getaways, that was the night I walked to Plaistow tube and have to say it was much quicker than queuing at upton park tube. turn left at the pub by the market (The Queens) and then straight down the road.

Back to old ways yesterday. Very impressive against what has been a decent team in recent weeks. Seem to have rediscovered the confidence and composure that has been missing in recent games. A host of good performances, with a few very impressive. Looked a strong team on paper before the game and they delivered. Strong bench as well (first time in ages) with Chaplow still to come. Was thinking of a point at West Ham, but might be greedy and want three now, after finding our feet again.

I presume you've come across the Seat61 site on the interweb??? By far the best place for train info. Did a very good north-south route travelling from the Estonia all the way down to Serbia. Obviously flew to Talinn and out of Belgrade, but the trains in between were interesting to say the least. Have travelled the more obvious routes through France, the Alps down to Rome which is good and also did Belgium to Poland, but both those were almost a it too easy and touristy!!!!
