  1. Centre Midfield does indeed look problematic and when you consider that we knew in the loan window that we had problems (given that Scheiderlin was by then a long term casualty), then I have to say we have been left somewhat lightweight (something apparent in recent games). Stephens & Gobern IMHO are not adequate replacements for the here and now. Was never going to be easy getting in someone who could hit the ground running at that stage of the season, and not sure what we came up against when we did look, but it is an area that we need to shore up PDQ (Chaplow in for me ASAP). Given the injuries to Lallana and Chambo, then this just compounds our midfield nightmare. Upfront isn't so much of a worry for me as I think Guly is an able replacement up top, with Connolly to come off of the bench (or maybe even start a couple of the matches), but midfield is where we have big problems.
  2. To get 5 in that team is quite an achievement and from Peach's interviews on another thread they all seem quite rightly thrilled at the recognition of their fellow pro's. Although I like Harding, I think his is the only one who I didn't think would be there. If there was an equivalent poll for manager then I assume Poyet would win as have to say he has done a very good job down there (probably demonstrated by the fact that the PFA team isn't overpopulated with Brighton players).
  3. Lallana might be a step too far, but happy to go with what the physio/doctor and manager think. If he is a risk then I would put Richardson in at Right Midfield (along with Stephens, Chaplow & Hammond). Stephens hasn't impressed me, but not sure what else we have got as I'm not convinced Gobern is the man.
  4. Hopefully Adkins will have learnt his lesson!!! Personally I'd look to shore up the midfield as it was very weak on Saturday. Get Guly out of there and upfront.
  5. Fonte's take is interesting as the Official Site match report has Jaidi down as succumbing to an injury and having to go off. If it was tactical then not overly impressed with Adkins having to change the side and format half an hour in (and using up a sub) as Kuffour is a regular for Rovers and we should have known about his pace and guile beforehand. That said, what is wrong with Roger's and my view that we didn't look any better after the change?? Personally, I saw nothing that would suggest the change improved us, but you're more than welcome to your view that we did improve. Football is all about opinions, it's what makes it so special and intriguing, so not sure why you're trying to play the I'm right, you're wrong card.
  6. I too thought he was poor (particularly the first half), but should we cut him some slack as (a) he's still settling in, and (b) he was part of a very makeshift midfield?????? Another point might be that I think we should have tried to get someone more established (and dare I say experienced) in the loan window once we knew Schneiderlin was out injured??? Obviously not the easiest time to get players and not sure who was available, but not sure Stephens was the player we needed at that point as I think we needed someone who could hit the ground running and impose themself.
  7. Have to disagree about the design of the stadium and the facilities on offer, as everything I have seen of it makes it look very good indeed. Understand your concern about sanitising football, but I think they haven't gone that overboard, they've just incorporated some of the latest thinking in to a wonderful ground. I do have doubts about location, as have always found out of town grounds to be sheite for a number of reasons, so wonder if it will break the mould there??? (so glad we didn't get Stoneham!!!!!). (Plus, without being too Green & Conservationist and always hoping that Brighton would finnd a new home for their long suffering supporters, then I have to say it looks very much out of place there and despite the design and landscaping it certainly impacts on The South Downs - how did they manage to pull that off??)
  8. Jealousy, anger and hatred of this ilk is very often down to an inferiority complex and being a no mark. If you are comfortable with who you are and have just achieved success, then you wouldn't have to resort to such attacks to try and fulfil an obvious pyschological gap in your psyche. Brighton have done very well this season and I think their true supporters who stuck by them in the very dark times have been deservedly rewarded with promotion and a decent stadium. Well done to them and I hope they enjoy the benefits of this success. However, for the other weirdos who seem to populate that board and who seem a bit obsessed, then my message would be kick back, enjoy your success, wallow in it, but ultimately you need to feel a little bit more secure about who you are and feel less of a need to big yourself up by putting others down. Otherwise you really do look like no marks.
  9. I would seriously reconsider going to St Mary's if we ever got a drummer in St Mary's!!!!! My worst away games recently have been at places like Peterborough and Colchester where some complete funkwit is thumping out the same moronic beats throughout the game. Trumpet I'm a little less fussed about, mainly from watching the Barmy Army trumpeter do his stuff (but then he doesn't go over the top, has plenty of respites and there is a policy of minimal repitition which makes it more bearable). That dear W******d chappy isn't that bad, he's a one off (in many ways!!!!) and adds something, but the accompanying drums down there (and elsewhere) are as you the sign of a complete no mark club.
  10. Forgot that one. Any others between the 1986 FA Cup match and our very recent League games????
  11. Not sure when it was, but definitely in the second half when he got caught in possession (Kingsland side) and the player nipped in from behind and Lambert then kicked the player. But I didn't think it was that serious. He lipmed about gingerly for a few minutes, but then put a shift in almost straight away. Think one of Lambert's problems is the name he made for himself last season when almost anything he hit or headed was going flying in!!!! He's still been very good for me this season, just think the expectations are much higher given how prolific he was last year.
  12. It will be a very big call, but I would have no problems taking a point at Brighton and resting Lallana to give him a better shot at the other four games. We are a different team with him, so need to do everything we can to get as many minutes out of him.
  13. Definitely one of the positives for me as I never thought we got to the panicky stage and starting to lump it forward etc. As opposed to some other games I always thought we were going to sneak one at some point yesterday. Adkins probably enforced this on them, so well done if he did, and fair play to some of the senior players (Fonte, Lambert etc) who looked to be trying to calm things down and get the ball flowing.
  14. One of the best seasons for quite a while (also enjoyed the enthusiasm and optimism of last season as well though). Winning more obviously helps, but there is also quite an upbeat feel about St Mary's as well. Quite a few goals, some good comebacks and a few decent players coming through. That said, I'm not sure how that impacts on imparting an honest assessment after a relatively "poor" performance and always find it a tad weird how if you give a critical review (even if constructive or perhaps if you have high standards and want players to perform as you know they can) then you are somehow marked down as a moaner or someone not enjoying the football on offer. Rather weird IMHO. And the contentious point here is whether Lambert missed 5 sitters?? I really struggle to work out where the other 4 have come from. Additionally, surely by suggesting he missed those 5 sitters you're as guilty as others for criticising and moaning at the players???? Are you not enjoying this season? winky thing.
  15. Will have to get ITN out to see if that was the game our train got bricked at Goring-By-Sea or if that was the game we went in one of those 7 seater Peugeots (but managed to get 9 in - lots of kids back then!!!). Can definitely remember quite a few draws down there in those games.
  16. Didn't come across right, as certainly not having a go at Lambert, who despite not being as prolific this year, still shows his class in other ways. I just wasn't sure that he had 5 clear cut chances yesterday that he failed to socre from.
  17. In late 70's/early 80's we played at their place once in the old Div 2 and then 4 times in the old Div 1, plus a game in the 86 FA Cup. After that I don't think it was until the recent games that we were reacquainted with each other!!!!!
  18. Of course it's no more than my opinion, but I do think Huddersfield and Posh will drop at least two points in their run in. That said, I thought Charlton would be the second best chance of points being dropped for the Terriers, so who knows. I think 3 wins and a draw might only be required and that is definitely possible. Like you I do have concerns over how our recent performances will translate in to wins over the next 5 games, but we have been managing to grind out results (Rochdale excepted), so there is some comfort there. The other worry is the injuries that are being picked up with Lallana being the most significant and now maybe Barnard to be added to Chamberlain, Chaplow, Spiderman etc. I'd rather be in our position than having to rely on others to drop points, but there is no doubt it will be tight and we will make hard work for ourselves.
  19. I presume the easiest chance was the second half header up the Chapel end that he really should have put away. It looked close, but I was quite a distance away so wouldn't be surprised if it was miles wide!!!! But 4 others you would expect him to put away????? I'm all up for being positive and upbeat, but that really is stretching it somewhat.
  20. Guly's goal looks even better on there. I thought he jinxed past one player, but didn't realise he did two and finished so cooly!!! A real bit of class from the man. Forte's earlier header still looks like a bit of a scuff to me and didn't realise he was that unmarked. For some reason, unlike some recent games I always thought we were going to score.
  21. Petty Little agendas??? LMFAO. I think Dickson should have been more adventurous in the first half and pushed on a bit and you interpret that as a part of a grand plan to undermine the Club. You're coming acorss as a right **** LMFAO.
  22. Slate??? And there I was thinking this was football forum where people could share their thoughts and opinions on the game they had just seen. FWIW, I was 100% behind every player at the match today as I am at all the matches I go to. I find nothing controversial in giving my all to the team at the game and then being honest about how I feel afterwards. Football is all about opinions and I'm sure we'll never always agree on how players played. However, your little digs just make you look like a ****.
  23. Looking back I think there were a few decent chances. As you say Lamberts free header up the Chapel and Forte stabbing wide at the same end. Forte's header up the other end looked as though he scuffed it a bit!!!, but Guly's early effort was well saved. We probably were better than my initial thoughts, but I still felt we were misfiring and given the squad we really should be playing better. But seeing it in the flesh is not the same as listening on the radio, and it does annoy me somewhat how people can be so cutting or opinionated when they didn't even go. There will always be a difference of opinions from those who go, let alone those who just look at the BBC website.
