Cortese is ambitious impatient and ruthless, his decisions are all pure business decisions, he has no room for sentiment! This is how he suceeded in banking! It is a big gamble! will it work? only time will tell! I beleive Nigel has been sacrificied for being too loyal and too nice! probably for showing too much sentiment towards the players that brought him up and feeling they would improve over time rather than replacing them ruthlessly the goal keeping and centre backs maybe being a typical example!

I think we may well see a real approach for Counthinho before the window closes!

I respect your views and am tempted to feel the same but cant! I have supported saints for 40 years and more and we have been through worse times than this! The way we have behaved has been poor indeed and football now is all about money and little else. however I am and will always be a Saints supporter and will put this episode behind me like so many others in the past and suppoort the new manager and team neither of whom are to blame!

The fans are not the customers anymore! it is the Tv income and the worldwide sales. no one cares what the fans want they are now just a minor source of income!

If anything was needed to show how football has turned into a cut throat business this is it! loyalty, common decency, the views of fans are all sacrificed in the face of money and greed! What do 20k to 30k fas views matter in the face of worldwide TV, commercial sales and advertising fees! This nothing more than a rash gamble for riches by someone impatient to get into the big time purely for commercial reasons!

I dont dont see the point in apologising etc.in a season S**t happens! You get some good decisons and you get some bad ones! JR had what looked like a perfectly good goal disallowed for a dubuios offside recently as did Puncheon for a very innocuous push by Yoshida on the keeper. We have had countless good calls for a penalty turned down. We have even had players booked for diving when there was obvious contact because the ref's bottled the penalty call! So yesterday we got one that on reflection wasnt right? why do we have to apologise? Will Wenger apologise for Wilishire encouraging the ref to send of Kompany yesterday when replays showed it to be a perfectly god tackle? I think not! The FA should introduce television replays like rugby and tennis to help referees until that happens it is what it is and generally poor decisons balance out over time! This diving saga is taking away credit for a damn good performance by Saints. When all that matters is we got the 3 points we deserved for a change

Could't agree more! We also went down with Harry's list of experienced journey men! Better to have younger players with a crareer ahead of them who want to impress, than those not really committed and looking to stay out of trouble and extend their pay days! We could however do with a couple of experienced old head leaders amongst the youngsters in the Paine, Ball or Case mould to help them get there quicker and stop the panic spreading when things dont go to plan on the pitch !

Give him time he is 21 and came from a different league having already made the transition from Uruguay to Italy. Rodriques is older (by a year) and from the UK but is only just finding his feet in the premiership. Gaston has the talent and will come good more consistently but patience is needed!

If any of the teams in that table on points in the mid to high 20's had a 2nd half run like the one wigan had first half they would probably go down! True it is unlikely and the candidates are likely to be lower down but it is just as likely as Wigans escape and that happened!
