  1. Lawks a mercy - that's a big un! Where is that man's right hand?
  2. Invalid - I have a man to do that, thanks.
  3. Thanks Gemmel, I'd forgotten about the CVA without which we wouldn't get the Football League's Golden Share and therefore wouldn't be able to compete. That's right, isn't it? I was looking at it more from the point of view of assets being sold on to a 'new' company, thus ensuring that the 'new' company got its mitts on Jacksons Farm etc. etc.
  4. Back on topic. Just now I was reading about 'Pre-pack administration' and decided to research it a bit. Here's the best explanation I've found so far. I think it could be a possibility that 'some' at the club might be looking at Pre-pack as a way of setting up a 'new company' to buy up the assets of SLH before it's put into administration. It seems the advantage of this is that creditors don't get to know of this arrangement until it's done and dusted and administration is announced. I'd welcome the views of those in the know http://www.business-sale.com/pre-pack-administrations-benefits.html
  5. And here's the article now on the BBC Sports website: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/7965152.stm
  6. FK Pobeda, apparently (Macedonian)
  7. But somehow there has to be a mechanism to TRY to ensure that there is a level playing field (pun very much intended). Interesting to see what Dave Whelan has to say about this and about the tests that Brian Mawhinney (sp?) is seeking to impose on Premiership clubs: http://www.sportinglife.com/football/premiership/news/story_get.cgi?STORY_NAME=soccer/09/03/25/SOCCER_Wigan_Nightlead.html He also raises the spectre of 'foreign owners lending money to clubs and then, potentially, calling in their loans' - could that happen 'down the road'? Particularly as it's rumoured that one Premiership club will be put into Receivership soon.
  8. Frank - I don't know for sure, but I'm willing to bet that there's a covenant on SMS saying the land must be used for sporting purposes only (and therefore not available for commercial development).
  9. I think he's very, very funny and I'd love to see him on tour. I've also been enjoying Stuart Lee on the Beeb this past couple of weeks.
  10. There is going to be a programme on Radio 5 Live tonight at 8pm about 'former Premiership clubs struggling to survive in the Football League'.
  11. Not every MP in the Labour Party, Stanley Here's a tasty one (well, I think so anyway)
  12. Why? Seriously, why
  13. A couple of interesting articles in today's Guardian: http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/mar/25/premier-league-football-debt http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/blog/2009/mar/25/manchester-united-debt-glazers-david-conn Yeah, yeah - I know they're about the Premiership / ManUre but I would have thought what applies to them could trickle down to other leagues.
  14. TDD in 'glass half full' shocker
  15. And we never hear from Sequoia these days, now do we
  16. There you go
  17. Trousers in 'spelling shocker'
  18. IIRC one is red and one is white.
  19. Somebody must be putting manure on the pitch? Oh, hang on....
  20. Cor Blimey Trousers! Is there nothing that escapes your attention?
  21. Why not use Crouchie's Lawyer's solicitors (if you follow)? Apparently, for £50, they can get all your debts wiped out at a stroke due to some dodgy wording. http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=11365
  22. I wonder if RL has any contacts in his world of high finance and hedge funds () who are administrators and who might do the job on the cheap?
