Serious questions for the mods - not relevant to others

Duh - why do you think we had an upgrade? They knew something we didn't -
I think you'll find that was Harold MacMillan

So I'm asking again.... Does anyone know what time the meeting started / is scheduled to end / ended? Surely we must have SOME spies there ATM?
-
Indeed indeed. Expert from RightMove on TV this morning saying that with fewer properties on the market and slightly more availability of mortgages at low interest rates, the market will start to pick up soon.
-
We must have other creditors though? Any one of them could call the shots, surely? Whether it's the horse liniment supplier, the utilities provider(s) or - heaven forfend - the photcopier supplier ......

I think you're almost right. The land would be subject to extensive remediation and decontamination if it were to be used for housing and that would cost a tidy sum. In these difficult and challenging times ( I'm getting fed up with that phrase) I can't see a speculator buying the land for housing with that sort of millstone round its neck.

Does anyone know: a) what time the meeting is scheduled for b) who is ACTUALLY attending - players, playing staff, board members....... oh and do we have anyone there watching?
-
What - like a conference call with the players, you mean? Or will he tell 'em off, one at a time

I know we've only got two suggestions so far - but should we not get the poll going at least. So that we've got time to organise :smt102

It's up to the individual, but I would have thought that Duncan would have been the best person for the media to approach. Apart from the fact that he's articulate (not saying NI isn't BTW) what Duncan doesn't know about this club probably isn't worth knowing. However, to repeat myself - I guess it's up to him.

Little bit in the Grauniad today http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/jan/18/championship-coca-cola But look at this too: http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2009/jan/19/lord-marland-ecb-election-giles-clarke This is an abridged version of the article that appeared in the paper this morning, in which he said: "I'm constantly maddened by the ineptitude of people who manage sporting institutions" Now, he was particularly referring to cricket but he might take heed of his own words and pass them on to his good mate Rupes This is about Lord Jonathan Marland BTW

Won't that be the problem, if RL eats humble pie and sacks JP? Managers must have a grapevine and word surely would have got round that, with RL, they will have NO SAY in the team? How many half-way decent managers would come here knowing that?

In what way won't it get past EU law? If France and Germany (members of the EU) can have caps, then why can't the UK? Actually, it could be that France and Germany use EU law to challenge the UK system - unfair competition and all that. -

FFS how do you KNOW how long it takes? You do know when you're still awake - I'll give you that - but you can't possibly know exactly when you went to sleep -
Goodnight Sweet Prince - Sir John Mortimer
bridge too far replied to Master Bates's topic in The Lounge
He was a great defender of free speech, and is remembered for appearing for the defence in the 'Oz' conspiracy trial and IIRC supported the publication of Lady Chatterley's Lover. He (used to) live near the stables my daughter went to in a tiny village - near where they filmed the Vicar of Dibley. He wrote a very dark play called 'The Narrowing Stream' - one of my favourites. -

I don't know because I don't know what time I fall asleep because I'm asleep. -
I think the owner is buying him out of his own pocket, so to speak :smt102

The daft thing about the money involved is that every player in the country will be looking for a pay rise. If Kaka's deemed to be worth £500K a week, then Ronaldo, Drogba, etc. etc. at the top of the Premiership will up the ante. Then the lower order in the Premiership will up the ante. Then the top flight players in the CCC will do the same. You get my drift........... Ultimately it will mean the death of lower order League clubs because many of them are already struggling to pay players at current levels.

Meh we English can't take credit for this one! http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/7832642.stm He's originally from California.
