I'm not surprised he's being careful. I'm sure Nathaniel Clyne got his knuckles rapped when he changed his profile on Twitter to say he was a Southampton player before the official announcement was made.

I would imagine Alan Nixon would have some great Scottish contacts and he seems pretty confident this will all go smoothly. All sounds good to me but would hope we get it done sooner than later to avoid last minute interest from elsewhere.

Seeing all the links flying around about Spanish midfielders such as Verdu and Banega made me think about our former midfield maestro, Inigo Idiakez, and how I had such big hopes that he could be the creative, goal scoring driving force our midfield needed to take us back to the Prem only to fall well short of that and then even miss a crucial shoot out spot kick. This in turn made me think who are the players other forum users had the highest hopes for only for them to fall well below that expectation. I guess Delgado and Skacel could be both up there for some and Gaston hasn't justified that £12m fee yet and maybe even Keegan didn't lead us to the Division One title. Any thoughts?

Isn't today the day supposedly pencilled in for Billy to meet with Poch to see whether he has a future at Saints? Or am I imagining that. If so, it'll be interesting to see whether there's an update on this later on today although I expect the outcome will be Billy looking for a new club.

Speculation on Not606 from a poster suggesting Sharp is off to Reading and, more surprisingly, a £3m bid for Puncheon has been accepted from Palace. Would be strange after he signed a new deal but I'm sure Holloway would be interested. If Punch is off, it wold make the need for new wide players all the more urgent.

My thought too. Two easy names to link Saints with as they've been often mentioned in the past. Right, now we've dismissed his credibility, queue double signing tomorrow with Phillips and Astori smiling happily in their new Adidas shirts...
