Another depressing Saturday evening. Quite frankly, I don't care what JP tries to say about the performance; the evidence is there that this system just isn't working for us. What's more important - your principles in playing a system or trying to stay in this division by playing as a solid unit in way that does not completely suit your ideals. As far as I can see, Man U & Arsenal can play good, fluid passing football in a 4-4-2 system so why can't we try to emulate that? Neil Warnock admitted earlier this week that his chosen formation at Palace was failing so he re-evaluated and adapted his team in a way he hoped would suit his players. And it worked. Could that happen here? Probably not - I'm not convinced JP has a plan B up his sleeve as this would expose the total football experiment as a failure.

Good work Rudi! You couldn't point McG in the direction of the goal now, could you?

What happened to the success we are beginning to enjoy?! Ah; I know what happened. Complacency against those plucky triers from South East London! In reality this was a cunning plan from Rupey to hold onto our best players. Play badly on national television against another team with 'talented' youngsters and maybe everyone will want to buy their players. Then, in February, watch us go [down]. Utter genius.

Someone did get hammered. Us.

Lowe in part 3 of his [tedious] interview. Eh? Did I miss something about our revolutionary new approach and how well we're doing? Obviously we are aiming for the places just above the relegation spots and succeeding joyously and the first half performance tonight (and all Sky performances) are indicative of just how well it's going. Encore, maestro, encore! Here's hoping our boys (based on actual age rather than familiarity) will cap a stunning comeback with a win and my half-time despondency will be dispelled but I doubt it...

Would be brilliant to keep him, even if it was just for the rest of the season. If we do raise any funds and there's the opportunity to spend a bit, then, if it's sufficient, it should be spent on this lad IMO.

How did those who were there feel he did, in his brief little cameo? Any signs that we might have signed a good 'un?

Shame we couldn't have recorded back to back wins but, as the previous poster said, if someone had offered us 4 points before the Reading game, most of us would've taken it - myself included. Next up Charlton: a win there and 7 out of a possible 9 would be a positively healthy return. I must be careful; I'm almost being optimistic.

Happy days! Didn't see this coming at all - shame on me! - but what a fantastic result given our current plight. I feel this will be the story of our season with so many youngsters in the team - great results against the top boys and frustrating defeats against the dross. My jubilation was such that I managed to teach my 2 1/2 year old to shout 'Bradley Wright Wright Wright'!

Forgot about Gasmi (how could I when he's played all those games for us!). I wonder if we're pinning our hopes on him being able to replace Lallana? And with Pulis to replace Surman, we'll be just fine...

It's interesting that earlier this season Lallana was being linked with Poopey and now suddenly Spurs are back in for him again. Common denominator - 'Arry. Likely destination now I've said this: Fulham! I get the impression that JP's not quite sure what to do with Lallana (i.e. play him in the hole or play him wide - it varies from game to game), hence why I won't be too upset if he moves on. Jason Euell was proving a useful foil for DMG, before his sending off, so maybe if we could get in a pacy right-sided winger to replace Lallana, it could suit us more.

I think a measure of how far we've fallen is evident when you consider this weekend's opponents. In years gone by, particularly the 80s, when we had a game away at Arsenal, Liverpool or Man U there was always the optimism amongst Saints fans that we could go to those places and, if not get a decent result, at least compete. Even in the 90s, when we weren't of the same standard as under Lawrie Mac, there was hope (and sometimes achievement - i.e. wins at Anfield and that 3-3 at Old Trafford). Now I look at the game on Saturday against the 'mighty' Reading, who are considerably better than us in a division below the elite, and my only thought is 'please don't get stuffed'. Such a shame.
