  1. He hasn't had the best of starts for us so a loan to a lower side may be a good move all round but only if there are plans for at least 1 more striker. My blood pressure won't be able to cope with Shane Long being a regular starter.
  2. I would rather keep him if we can and if he wants to stay. No point keeping a player who wants out. We know what WP can do and I think we might struggle to find a suitable replacement for him. Better the devil you know sometimes. I would just like to see us build around our best players and have some ambition for better things. Never seems to happen, though.
  3. Like you I enjoyed watching my fellow Islander score some incredible goals for the one and only club he played for professionally. He certainly was an amazing footballer. He is entitled to his opinions however strange they may appear to some of us. I do think he has a point about being almost forced to wear a Black Lives Matter badge.
  4. It may be my memory going to pot but didn't we have a spell where we seemed to draw Forest in most cup games? Going back a while.
  5. Shay Given might have a different opinion.
  6. I agree. Come the end of the season managers must know who is leaving, what positions need strengthening and who they would like to sign depending on available cash. With next season starting earlier due to the Qatar World Cup I hoped we would crack on getting the team in place in good time. Saints often seem to be slow out of the starting blocks compared to many other teams.
  7. Look. I know there's not much footy to watch but Love Island???!!! Have a word with yourself.
  8. Would you offer mega money for JWP after a showing like that? Nobody will be offering mega money for Che Adams either after his woeful performance for Scotland last night. Absolutely dire. All looking good for next season. 😪
  9. I appreciate we are always at risk of losing our better players but there must come a time when enough is enough and we must do our very best to retain the likes of JWP and KWP and improve the remainder of the team around our top players, otherwise we will always be a bottom third of the league club.
  10. Exactly. Pope may cost us the thick end of our transfer money but having a competent goalkeeper is key.
  11. Phil Jones isn't called 'Calamity' for nothing.
  12. Walcott's thinking is on a par with his playing. Bale was a great player for us back in the day but he is a different proposition now. His main interest apart from golf is to be playing for Wales at the World Cup. In the few months between the start of the season and the WC, Bale will be just doing the minimum to keep fit and avoid any injury. His heart and mind won't be in furthering Southampton's ambitions so I can't see any value in paying him to just mark time when the money could be better spent elsewhere.
  13. Thank goodness. He hasn't been firing on all cylinders for some time now and needs to go. We need some fire power up front and that won't be provided by S. Long Esq.
  14. We are not blessed with an abundance of great players but I could reasonably see JWP and KWP being on quite a few club's wish lists.
  15. True. I wouldn't want to see a sizeable chunk of any of our transfer money going on Winks.
  16. Surely not. He's been poor for too long and a waste of our meagre finances. We need a reliable, steady striker and that's not Shane Long.
  17. I absolutely love football but this is an obscene amount of money to be paying Mbappe. He kicks a ball around a patch of grass and is deemed to be worth a fortune for doing it. Where on earth will it all end? How do PSG square Fair Play with a deal like this? What will the likes of Neymar have to say? I hope he has a rubbish season.
  18. Bring back Rory Delap. 😂
  19. I would rather give up following football altogether than become a glory hunter.
  20. Still disappointing when we showed we could play some good football earlier in the season and thank goodness for the points we won back then against tougher opponents. Man City could only draw with us twice, we beat Spurs and West Ham. It was great watching the players giving their best, playing with some confidence and determination and supporting each other as good teams do. I enjoyed watching our matches and I haven't always been able to say that. The recent slide back to mediocre has me concerned for next season. I am happy you will be satisfied if we end up with 17th place but I am disappointed that a promising spell mid-season couldn't be maintained resulting in Saints sliding oh so close to the drop zone.
  21. Away from home and playing like we have for the past few weeks I can't see us covering ourselves with glory. If Burnley and Everton win their remaining 2 games each we could finish in 17th. Sorry Ralph, just not good enough!
  22. Nick Pope springs to mind for me too. Might as well try for him irrespective of whether Forster stays or goes.
  23. If Burnley and Everton win their remaining 2 games and we lose to Leicester we will end up in 17th place. A pretty miserable end to a season which had us playing some good football at times but for whatever reason we can never keep that up for any length of time. In last night's game even a hugely depleted Liverpool side could not instill any hope or fight in our lot. I wonder if Ralph needs to go during the summer. He seems all out of ideas now. I appreciate we don't have unlimited funds to make too many changes to the team but I hope we can concentrate on a solid striker. With Broja going back to Chelsea that leaves us Adams, Armstrong and Long. Not a trio to put the fear of God in anyone.
  24. That's the spirit!
