  1. The bottom line is there have always been and will always be racists. When I was a teenager in the 60's, sitcoms like Steptoe and Son, Love Thy Neighbour, On The Buses and Till Death Do Us Part made comments which were taken as banter. Every culture had a nickname. From what I could see nobody took offence because you gave as good as you got. Today, every word or action comes under the microscope to see is there is anything offensive in it. Taking the Knee has not had the desired outcome. The likes of Sterling, Rashford etc still get racist comments and monkey emojis after a poor performance. No matter what is put into practice to try to stop racism, there will always be those out there who are racist.
  2. Lingard has missed out for the in-form goal machine, Marcus Rashford. ðŸĪŠ
  3. Tuchel has some work to do on Werner. I think he's scored 6 goals this season which is way off the mark for a top club striker. He needs to up his awareness too. Goodness knows how many times he's offside. I am pleased that Che has been named in the Scotland side for the Euros. Great experience for him which may bode well for us next season. ðŸĪž
  4. Isn't hindsight great?😁
  5. I couldn't care less about Man U but if I was one of their fans this morning I would be fuming to hear Ole's remarks post match. 'We didn't turn up'. This was a Cup Final for hell's sake, not a rehearsal. The Old Trafford trophy cabinet has more cobwebs than cups. Shouldn't a player who is walking out onto the pitch for a Final and wearing his club shirt, be bursting with pride? Shouldn't he be filled with determination to give 100%? Where were the balls and the fire in the bellies of those players last night? They get paid obscene amounts of money to kick a ball around a bit of grass. Look as if you at least care. It amazes me they ended up 2nd in the League. It's like seeing an elephant in a tree and wondering how it got there. To cap it all their star striker, Pen, never got the Golden Boot. There's no justice in the world. I hope Ole has kept the receipt for the Silvo.
  6. Until our esteemed owner asks for a realistic price for a low end of average football club and then clears off, I can't see much changing in the way of manager or players. I have all my hopes pinned on an early sale to someone in Leiber's mould.🙏
  7. I'm sure Pep has him top of his wish list. There aren't likely to be many decent strikers available this summer. Haarland? Kane? No, let's go for Ings.😂
  8. Oh goody! Something to look forward to.😝
  9. 2 good chances near the end for Redmond but doesn't bother passing to others with a better goal scoring opportunity. What a team player!
  10. Exactly. They will ignore the fact that our good form and results earlier in the season provided us with a cushion to avoid relegation. If we climb a few places up the league the Board will stay sat in Cuckoo Land and say everything is great. It isn't!.
  11. Walcott isn't ideal but better the devil you know sometimes. I can't see us making many major improvements to the team in the transfer window. Our esteemed owner won't be splashing the cash.
  12. It all depends on what the Board want Southampton to achieve. If it is going to be treading water in the bottom third of the Premiership season after season then keep Adams. If there are aspirations for better things then Adams isn't what we need. Yes, his work rate and effort are decent enough but he is a striker, first and foremost. Forget this 2nd striker malarkey. A striker is a striker and their job is to score goals and Adams goal tally isn't good enough. Look at the teams from 14th place up. Would any of them buy Adams if he was on offer? No, they wouldn't.
  13. With Turkey being put on Boris's red travel list today, will UEFA allow the Champions League Final to move from Istanbul to another venue? As it is an all English final it would make sense for players and staff not to have to travel to a country in lockdown, surely. Wembley or another of the larger football stadiums could be used and they could have some supporters in as well. Will UEFA use their common sense?
  14. Something needs doing to improve both VAR and the referees. A rescinded red card makes me angry. VAR should make sure that any red cards shown by the referee is the correct decision. Who knows what the final score might have been had Vestegaard not been sent off. Let's hear the conversation going on like they do with rugby.
  15. I wonder if Mike Dean is biased towards certain clubs. He shouldn't be if he is a ref but sometimes his decisions smack as favouritism. He gets some form of warped pleasure whipping out his yellow and red cards. The FA need to use the summer break to completely overhaul how VAR is being use and to educate the referees.
  16. Apologies for jumping to conclusions. I am not sure whether there was a previous vote. If there was I didn't see it.
  17. Has nothing to do with his footballing ability and his views on Brexit are his personal opinion and he is entitled to that. If we start discounting all footballers who have done or said something even slightly iffy off the pitch there won't be too many left.
  18. Best have a look at Shearer's playing career.
  19. I thought we were in for a bad night when I saw Stephens on the pitch and Vestegaard getting sent off it, all thanks to a ref not using VAR in the way it is intended and Vardy making a meal of the tackle. It was nice to see us improve and become more determined as the game went on, instead of the other way round. A well earned and well deserved point. I have never been keen on Karen Carney as a TV pundit either. She is at her best with the sound turned down.
  20. Hopefully that Covidiot Maddison won't be fit to play.
  21. Please not Christian Benteke. He couldn't score in a brothel.
  22. Here they come. Tails between their legs with mealy mouthed, half-arsed apologies which they don't really mean. I hope the FA or UEFA take some robust action against these greedy owners so this can't happen again. The game of football may need a revamp here and there but not like this and not by money grabbing owners. They will have to find some other way of getting their astronomical debts sorted. Perhaps refusing to pay players eye-watering salaries on long contracts may be a start.
  23. Very good post. My Dad was football mad and I can still see him ranting away at Jonny Haynes who was the 1st ÂĢ100 a week footballer. If he was around now.........
  24. I wonder if that is Chelsea and Man City? I have just been reading an article that they were reluctant to join. It also said Tuchel would never be keen for an ESL either.
  25. Spurs have sacked Jose this morning. He hasn't done a brilliant job but I thought they might have given him until the end of the season. Wonder if he fancies St. Mary's?🙄
