  1. Absolutely, so Smallbone should have used his loaf and given Nunez even more room to miss the net. There would have been no need for VAR, maybe, just maybe, Nunez would have been shown a second yellow for diving and there would have been no call for a penalty.
  2. Smallbone should have held back instead of making a clumsy attempt at tackling Nunez because he collapses to the pitch at the slightest touch, especially in the penalty box. Left to his own devices, Nunez would have missed the net anyway. I think I saw stats that has Nunez as the most wasteful for goalscoring attempts. Liverpool have had a charmed season. No injuries to their significant players and the teams like Arsenal, Chelsea, Man U, Spurs and City, that Liverpool would expect to have breathing down their neck for the League title, have all had a poor season. Let's see where they are next season if Salah, Alexander-Arnold & Van Dijk don't sign new contracts.

You wouldn't fancy a seat on the Board? Your suggestions usually make a lot of sense and we need bucketloads of that in the Boardroom to avoid any more chaotic and clueless appointments.

This post puts our woeful, aimless season in a nutshell.
  5. It does you good to look back and enjoy some of the good times and we have had them. In the days of video recorders, I had an MLT best goals video and would watch that from time to time. A lot of our team are Championship level, at best, so those who stay should hopefully be able to hit the ground running next season. My concern is that if we won promotion then we will be back to square one. I want SR to have a long, hard look at themselves and the woeful decisions they have made with both managerial appointments and buying players, resulting in the depressing and embarrassing season we have had to endure. I don't want them sitting back, if the team are doing well in the Championship, thinking what a great job they have done and doing more of the same. That will condemn Saints to Championship football for the foreseeable or, at best, yo-yoing between the Premier League and the Championship. You want us to feel a lot better about next season and hopefully we will but SR have a major part to play in keeping our spirits up by bringing in experienced and capable managers and strengthening and improving the team with the players we need if we are ever to enjoy being a fixture of Premier League football again.
  6. Now what other club does that remind me of?
  7. I hope our best players don't stay. They deserve to be at a club which is run effectively from top to bottom. Owners, with the club as their top priority, managers, who can improve their fitness levels and encourage them in developing their footballing ability in the environment of a well run club. They most certainly won't get that at Southampton with the current regime.
  8. Even that numpty Nunez, who couldn't score in a brothel, will be looking forward to this one.
  9. If they do I hope Ramsdale wins it. That poor sod stuck behind what is laughingly described as a defence week in, week out, must wonder what the hell is going on. Without him we would have shipped even more goals so with the absence of anyone who can score, I hope the ball stopper wins Player of the Season.
  10. That shows the total apathy and so what attitude of the rest of the team. Loyal fans traipsing up to London on a mid-week February night to watch the same dire rubbish dished up on the pitch and they can't even go and acknowledge them of their own accord. The only interest they have is for their undeserved, bloated wages. Time to start paying salaries by results?
  11. I posted the same 5 hours ago. If a poll if being held on who is to blame then SR just have to be included.
  12. Bournemouth are rumoured to be keeping an eye on him. Kepa is on loan which will finish at the end of the season. Chelsea may be open to offers for him but Sanchez isn't a great goalie so Chelsea may want to keep Kepa themselves. I read somewhere that Ramsdale likes the South coast so Bournemouth may be ideal for him. He doesn't deserve to be dragged down to the Championship. It's thanks to him that our embarrassing GD hasn't been much worse. It will be back to the Bazunu and McCarthy days. Can't wait.
  13. Only 2? I can count 4 since Ralph. SR should be on this poll. They have made some dreadful decisions in regards to managers and players and have to take a share of the blame for the position we are in. Having said that it's 50/50 for me. The last 4 managers have been nowhere near good enough and it is clear to see that the players fitness levels are poor compared to the vast majority, if not all of the other teams we have played against this season.
  14. One report I read had West Ham valuing THB at £15m. I will be fuming if SR let him go for that.
  15. I hope this post is tongue in cheek otherwise it makes you a fair weather supporter. Instead of gracing St. Mary's with your presence next season just pop along the coast to Brighton or Bournemouth if you want to see a few matches won.
  16. I always hope for the best but with my realistic head on I can't see us getting anything here. Chelsea may be on the slide from earlier in the season but they haven't slid down anywhere near as far as we have.
  17. Vardy's motormouth wife accidently spilled the beans that he is undergoing a 'full body reboot' at a London clinic. If last night's performance is anything to go by he needs to ask for a refund.
  18. After this weekend we have Chelsea, Liverpool and Wolves before the end of March. Derby County were relegated on 29th March 2008 with 11 points. At the moment we have 9 so need 3 more to avoid that statistic and even with a Chelsea team on the slide and Wolves, I doubt we will get the points we need. Will Saints be officially named as the worst Premier League team ever at this point or will it be when it is mathematically impossible for us to stay up? Even a poor Leicester in 19th place are 8 points clear of us.
  19. We have been crying out for a decent striker since Ings left. It seems everyone else, supporters, commentators, pundits, can all see it, but those who can do something about it, can't. Boggles my brain!
  20. Chelsea need somebody better than Sanchez but Ramsdale may not be deemed good enough for them. Spurs struggled during Vicario's absence with the sub goalies, none of them very good, so may be keen to sign him as No 2 but Ramsdale may want to be first choice wherever he goes.
  21. It's nice to have your moment in the sun though, isn't it? We haven't had much chance to get sunstroke for quite a while now.
  22. Just what I need, a 2nd loss at home to a South Coast club in a week What depresses me the most is that, not so long ago, a fixture against Bournemouth and Brighton had me fairly confident of 3 points from both games. It underlines just how far we have fallen.
  23. Why should the club be trying to win him round? He has a contract to play football and his refusal should invalidate that contract. Kowtowing to him and players like him give them a power they should not be allowed to have. Clubs should clamp down hard and show these self-important players who hold a club to ransom that there are strict consequences for their behaviour, otherwise football will see more of this.
  24. Why was Slot on the touchline? I thought he'd been shown a red card at the end of the Everton v L:iverpool earlier in the week. Do the refs turn a blind eye to him, too?
  25. That's exactly what should happen. He is being paid, far too much, to kick a ball around a patch of grass. He isn't particularly good at it but he has now thrown his toys out of his pram and refuses to play, so he shouldn't be paid. If we are not seeing Harwood-Bellend for the same reason then he shouldn't be paid, either.
