I'd be very confident that Bednarek will not be here next season given his release clause. Similarly, no guarantee that both Wood and Stephens will feature in Still's plans (hopefully not). Ideally I'd have Bednarek and THB replacements competing with Edwards for the starting two spots with Kayi Sanda (who looks a great prospect) and one of Stephens/Wood also providing cover

If we could keep only one of our four most valuable assets (Ramsdale, THB, Dibling and Fernandes) - for me its easily Fernandes. Although all 4 would be excellent in the Championship, we can pick up a capable keeper which would enable us to either sell/loan Ramsdale. Look at the 3 promoted keepers this season - Trafford is excellent but Meslier and Patterson are average keepers who make mistakes. Similarly, we got promoted with Bazunu and McCarthy fs. Although he was solid in the Championship, THB looked lost this season. Similarly, Dibling had his moments of superb play, but then went missing at times - bearing in mind hes still a kid. Fernandes, in a very poor PL team, was head and shoulders above the rest of his team mates. He would be devastating in the Championship so we should be doing everything to keep him. In addition to moving on Ramsdale, THB and Dibling, I would also sell the following if somebody is willing to buy them; McCarthy, Bednarek, ABK, Sugawara, Manning, Taylor, Aribo, Smallbone Sulemana, Onuachu and AA. Yes they could all do a job in the Championship, as some have done already, but we need to start building a capable PL squad now and not next summer or the following summer.

Welcome Will. Personally I think it is a great appointment for a Championship club. But.... The recruitment this summer is much more important. No point being ambitious with the choice of manager, if they're left to work with a squad of losers. Hopefully when the first mini transfer window opens on 1st June we'll see some movement (both out as well as in)
-
Yeah but this time they could be doing it with Martin
-
Thanks for that great insight

Cant wait until Leicester do the double over us next season. It'll be fun on here 😂
-
Two horrible clubs. If only one of us promoted sides could've put up a fight this season to drag them into a relegation scrap
-
Will be funny when Rohl has to trot back to Wednesday's training ground next month looking very silly. Unless some Saudi team takes a gamble on him. He's not the hot prospect he thinks he is. And all the shite about 'he knows the club', he was here for about 8 months and that was 6 years ago #WillStillsRedandWhiteArmy

I'd be very surprised if even half, never mind 95% of our signings will be in the English market. Spors and those who he has brought in (which could include Still) specialise in European leagues. There are some great options in the Champonship as you've suggested however
-
Does Rohl genuinely believe he can get a PL job? Or a Bundesliga job? A struggling Bundesliga side might take a risk on him, but he could also end up with nothing. Hes not the hot property he thinks he is
-
Despite how you try to soften it up, hes a risk because he was shite in his last job. As other posters have said, every appointment has its risks, its just you see less with Cooper as you've made your mind up that he should be our manager
-
Exactly. While the manager is important, if they're left to work with a poor group of players then they're not going to achieve anything. The recruitment in the summer and subsequent windows is crucial for us to have any sort of progression
-
Appointing Rohl would also be a risk, as would Lampard, as would Cooper
-
I think people forget we're a championship club again. Still would be a very good appointment. Dont get the clamour for Rohl. He finished 4 points above Pompey. Yes Wednesday were a shitshow but theres no guarantee if he had a better team and better backing that he would be a success. It would be a big step up for him, which is not the case for Still.
-
Who did you want us to appoint?
-
We're not winning this, but I would laugh my balls off if the last competitive game at Goodison was a 0-0 borefest
-
Style of play like Klopp? Somebody that Spors may be familiar with is Marco Rose. Out of work since being sacked by Leipzig in March. Would be an obvious step down for him but he has only been linked with Saudi clubs and Rangers
-
The only reason fans should want to get on the pitch is to get at the shower of useless wankers
-
Did say that the fans should have abandoned this team months ago. "What good would that do?" was the reply. Well what good has supporting them in numbers done? These cunts dont deserve an ounce of support
-
When was Vardy's last goal? Cert to score against us. Vestergaard with a defensive masterclass also. 3-0 Leicester
-
If it is true that he has met with Spors to discuss the job, then it would appear that he is open to the move, as opposed to shutting it down. While Lens will be a bigger club atm, getting us promoted and managing in the PL will be very appealing compared to continuing in Ligue 1. Should add that his Lens team got pumped 4-0 at the weekend at home

While I accept that we dont need to make wholesale changes this summer....we do need wholesale changes by summer 2026 if we want to be a competitive PL team again (if we get promoted). We could be forced into doing a large chunk of that this summer. If you take our regular starting team we're definitely losing KWP and Big Les. We're also very likely losing Ramsdale, Dibling and Fernandes. Wouldnt be surprised if one or two others tried to force a move also. Yes we're going to need to rely on some of those players who've let us down this season (and even 22/23) but we need to keep that number to a bare minimum and they need to be squad fillers only. If we're starting next season with Bazunu, Bednarek, Stephens, Bree, Manning, Sulemana, AA or Onuachu as regular starters - then our recruitment hasnt been good enough and we're making the same mistakes again. We likely need 6/7 new starters imo
-
We already have a replacement for Big Les in Shea Charles. Him and Downes under the right coach could be a formidable partnership in the Championship (in a 4-2-3-1 especially)
-
Utterly depressing that a club like Crystal Palace who have been very shrewd with their transfer business are into a cup final and pushing for a top half PL finish. Whereas we've won 2 games all season. Its not as if Parish has thrown the money around, instead they've made the most of their sales and reinvested it wisely. They signed the likes of Eze, Wharton, Richards, Sarr and Mateta. We signed Sulemana, Stewart, Wood, BBD and Onuachu. Fuckin hell
