  1. And if your granny had balls she'd be your grandad. We were never appointing Big Sam so its pointless bringing it up
  2. Glad its finally happened and we can now draw a line under it. Gave up watching games after the Wolves defeat. The writing was definitely on the wall then, if not many months before that and I just couldnt endure any more horrid football from a shower of shite team. A completely different feeling to 04/05 and a big part of me is glad its happened because those players/management/board deserve relegation. The piss poor quality of those around us allowed us to get to 36 games - it should have been much earlier. The Athletic article makes for painful reading too. Probably the worst saints team in my lifetime (and I thought the Poortvliet/Wotte days would never be beaten). Would be delighted to see the back of 75% of them. Can accept poor quality, but a lack of fight/effort/organisation is an absolute disgrace.
  3. From last March would be even more abysmal
  4. Remember seeing the Jones rumours and thinking it was throwaway agent talk and theres no way we'd appoint somebody like that..... If we're seriously considering the Swansea and Plymouth managers then we have big problems with SR and Ankersen, sorry. I dont really care what XG or possession and final third touches their teams had, we need a manager proven at a top level - not League 1 or mid-table Championship. Quit with the niche, hipster, data driven approach to recruiting managers. If we somehow do manage to keep some of our best players in the summer, can you imagine them returning to pre season under Steven Schumacher or Russell Martin. They've already had to suffer Jones and Selles in the past 7 months ffs.
  5. Who have they announced then? Please enlighten me
  6. Would cash in on Lyanco personally as I dont think hes a good defender. Hes too aggressive, constantly gets caught trying to step in front and win every ball. We wont get punished as much in the Championship but it is a basic defensive flaw. Salisu is obviously gone and I would also sell ABK. We've seen the potential but hes had a taste of the German national squad so its likely he'll be manufacturing a move away. We'll also make a decent profit on him, not bad considering his suspect injury record and not convinced hes overly committed. If we can retain Bednarek, DCC and possibly Stephens (no guarantee Bournemouth will sign him as hes recently lost his place and they've the young Ukrainian CB they signed in January waiting in the wings) then thats a good base to build from. Bring in another CB to help us navigate the nearly 50 games we'll have and I'd be pleased with that.
  7. The chance of Potter coming here is almost zero. Can see the likes of Palace and West Ham targeting him in the summer. They are a much more attractive option than us.
  8. Sorry but these two statements are incompatible. We conceded 4 goals, very easy goals at that. When you do that, it does not matter how good we play during the rest of the game, the better team is the one who minimises the mistakes better
  9. This. We're owed an apology from the wankers upstairs but that is never going to be forthcoming is it. What I do want to hear however is a statement of intent - "we are committed to returning the club to the PL at the first time of asking", "we will be doing our all to retain our best players", "there will be significant investment to help with the promotion push" etc etc. If we go weeks without any communication then they really are taking the piss. Relieving Selles of his duties at the end of the season would be a good start also
  10. We see you Martin Semmens
  11. Wouldnt be surprised. Out of contract next season, never had any intention of signing a new one and he checked out months ago
  12. He may not be captain material, but he cares about the club and without his contribution we would have been relegated last season and likely pushing Derbys record this season. He deserves a move to a mid table PL club and he'll get it (a move abroad might not be the worst idea - pace of Serie A would suit him)
  13. He'll not be here next season. He threw the toys out of the pram to get a move before (except nobody would take him permanently) and he'll be onto his agent to get a move again. Hes an established Polish international, he will not be wanting to play in the second tier in the lead up to the Euros. He can go for all I care. Very average CB along with the rest of them - Salisu (gave up a long time ago), ABK (always injured), Lyanco (crap), DCC (looks lost at PL level)
  14. That is the minimum expected fs. The defending was horrendous. Proud should never be used with this team of shite
  15. Conceding 4 (so far) against Forest. Nothing short of pathetic. Worst saints team in a long long while
  16. And what does that matter? He didnt improve Derby. They finished 6th when he took over and he took them to the same position, failing in the playoffs again. This all despite him having the pick of Chelseas best youth players in Mount and Tomori, as well as Harry Wilson from Liverpool.
  17. Where were all those people who said we should've went for Dyche when he make fuck all difference the last 6 weeks 😬
  18. That might be the most lightweight football team ever assembled
  19. Wont matter as Selles will likely line up with no striker again. But for whats it worth, I'd go with; McCarthy Bree ABK Bednarek KWP JWP Lavia Sulemana Alcaraz S.Armstrong Adams We're not keeping a clean sheet and I cant see us scoring more than 1. 2-1 Forest and relegation all but confirmed (if it wasnt already)
  20. Why do you hope it will be Wilcox? Has he ever been entrusted to make a managerial appointment before? His expertise to date is in academy player recruitment. Yes given his playing history he is a better option than Rasmus/Semmens (this forum is a better option than those two), but I'm not convinced he'll be that informed unless the manager has a City Group history, hence why Vieira is looking a strong possibility
  21. Eh? I'm pretty sure were talking about Orsic (or at least I was), not Walcott who was signed on a free and will be leaving on a free
  22. A year in the championship, hopefully winning plenty of games and building confidence can have a big impact on players too (even those deemed average). We proved during our promotion from the Championship what building a winning mentality can do. More recently, you just need to look at Fulham. They were hopeless when relegated two seasons ago but have returned this season with largely the same squad, but playing with alot more confidence/freedom. Marco Silva has been a big part of that. Hence why our choice of manager is the most crucial decision. We will retain some good players for Championship level, we will have plenty of money to spend given SR's reported intentions (plus parachute payments), but we need a good manager to help rebuild our identity/confidence. Get that appointment right and I'm confident we'll make a quick return 🤞🏼
  23. 80k a week and contributing f all
  24. He definitely hasnt been good enough during his time here to claim that we've missed the boat with him
  25. Our recruitment needs to be spot on this summer, especially attacking wise. While you would expect the likes of Adams, Mara, Onuachu and Alcaraz (if they stay) to chip in with goals in the championship, we desperately need a creative spark. Zaroury at Burnley and McAtee at Sheff Utd (we were linked with him) are perfect examples of such players recruited for next to nothing (or on loan). Recruitment under SR has had it ups and downs, and its still hard to judge some of the January signings coming into a basket case of a club and working under Jones/Selles. One things for sure, we'll definitely sign some kid from City, likely on loan 😂
