Think the same was said the summer they bought Brooks, Ibe Solanke, Mepham etc. All good young players on paper but didnt do it at PL level and eventually resulted in relegation
-
Wheres the quotes for this? Was Aarons one of those supposed players?
-
I think 30m is a fair deal. We maybe could have held out for 35m on deadline day, but we were never getting 40m for a 29yo just relegated. I think there is a bit of leeway with JWP in terms of us wanting to max our return from sales, as opposed to say Lavia. JWP has given us great service and if a deal comes up that is just short of what we want, then I'm sure the powers that be were happy to accept. In needs reinvested now. I see that Swansea are about to sign Charlie Patino on loan from Arsenal so I'm wondering if that will prompt any sales from them. Bringing in Downes and Grimes (and Charles) would be a sufficient return in letting JWP and Lavia leave. Badly need a striker or two - I dont think Adams will be here come September and I'm definitely not convinced Mara has 20+goals in him this season

The only melt here is you. Its quite simple, hes been at the club for 20 years so obviously he would like it to end on the pitch at home. That obviously wont be happening, but hes hardly wanting to portray himself as some financial saviour 🤪
-
Not very often you see a team lose its best player to a fellow promoted team. Things seem really bad at Sheff United who will almost certainly be coming back down
-
Lol at Leeds. It seems we had an interest in Aarons, but as long as KWP is still here then a move was unlikely
-
Still laugh when people insist that Lyanco should stick around because hes committed and wears his heart on his sleeve. What a horrible footballer. Callum Davenport and Vegard Forren would look good beside this clown
-
Could be worse, another promotion candidate is losing 4-0 at home to the mastermind that is Ruben Selles
-
Grimsby home, Wolves home, Forest home, Brentford home.....I could go on. You can change the way we play, but if you're asking awful players to implement it, then it could unravel quickly. The team that played on Friday were obviously able to pull it off in a matter of weeks, those tonight obviously cant. Further evidence that they shouldnt be anywhere near a squad pushing to return to the PL next year
-
They may not have been earth shattering but they currently rely on Clinton Morrison, Michael Dawson, Lee Hendrie etc to provide the 'punditry'. It needs put out of its misery like Soccer AM. Tragic

I see another player has failed their medical at Bournemouth. Maybe they need a new club doctor as Jackson failed his too, yet seems to be doing ok for Chelsea

Dont know the pass count but it was apparently 95% possession in injury time 😂 -

Thought Smallbone did well tonight, although there was alot of times where he presented in space and instead of taking it on the turn and advancing, it was just passed back to Bednarek or Stephens. That may be on purpose and what RM is asking, but he needs to show more bravery, Lavia certainly would. Charles will be pushing for that spot also -

I think we all know that, I think he knows that and I think RM now knows that. He made some good runs in the first half but was non existent in the second. When games open up in the last 20 minutes or so he could be more of an impact sub. No issue with him also being another option off the left as Edozie will be frustrating at times this season -

How many touches did we have? 😂 -
Might be late to the party, but I see that Lyanco has had his number 4 taken off him and he doesnt seem pleased about it. Hopefully a sign that hes edging closer to a move (finally)
-
Who did show much in what was an absolute shit show last season? Not great for him either that his former manager brought him in and then was sacked just weeks later. He a fresh start under RM and he was impressive during his last championship stint
-
eh? 8m cant be right
-
I have to say, what Wilcox is doing is very refreshing. I feared that we would get pillaged this summer for our best assets, but hes been clear on the value for each player and we're sticking to it. These price tags are fair and that means the players cant throw a Schneiderlin or Lallana level strop for us denying them a move.
-
Good point about Edwards, didnt realise his championship experience. Really dont want to be relying on Lyanco as an experienced head 😱
-
We need more experienced players in general, and particularly at a crucial position like CB. Have no issue with Holgate or HB (given hes played a season in the championship), but not convinced about Edwards. He may have super potential but we need players to go straight into the starting 11 now. We've already signed (or about to sign) a CB with the future in mind
-
Exactly this. Some of the managers who have comfortably overseen championship promotions in recent years include Scott Parker (twice), Chris Wilder, Daniel Farke, Xisco Munoz and Slaven Bilic. All struggled in the PL. I think Burnley have a good chance of staying up, but thats only because the other two promoted clubs have done little business. They had a taste of what to expect when they played City in the FA Cup and were walloped 6-0.
