  1. Fulham came straight back after appointing Silva and they were every bit as bad as us in their relegation season (28 points). Sheff Utd lost to eventual playoff winners Forest on pens last season, so not all bad. Playoffs is the absolute minimum next season regardless of the level of change we face. It has been done given the significant financial advantage that relegated PL clubs have. I dont accept that we dont have much 'championship class' in the team. We dont know who will leave/stay but even if we lose JWP, Lavia, KWP, ABK and Salisu, we'll still have the likes of DCC, Bednarek, Bree, Perraud, Tella, Smallbone, Aribo, Stu, Alcaraz, Che and Mara who are easily top half Championship players. We've been shite this year but theres still some good players in our squad. Just need a decent manager to get them playing
  2. We're not the first club to go down after a horrendous PL season and fan optimism be at an all time low. However the likes of Sheff Utd, Burnley and Fulham have proven in recent years that an immediate bounce back is possible if you get the big decisions right (manager and player recruitment). Need to get that winning mentality back. We will likely have a significant pot of cash to work with given the big sales, the parachute payment for year 1 and the fact that SR have confirmed that they're committed to funding a return to the PL. We will remain an attractive option for signing players compared to most of our championship rivals. We'll also be able to hang onto some players who will be PL quality. If we were to finish mid-table it would be another failure under SR, regardless of how big a hole we're currently in. Simply put, Martin needs to be the right decision and our player recruitment needs to be better than it has been. Time will tell.
  3. It seems as though we approached Enzo Maresca (City shock horror) and he turned us down
  4. No. His transfer fee all in is something like 40m. We were never forking out that sort of money
  5. "Passing it around in a slow manner when we're 2-1 down" Sounds like his tactics will fit in well here 🫣
  6. Possibly, but hes made a point of confirming that theres interest in him. If he was in the dark over our interest in Martin and still thought he had a chance of the job here, he wouldnt be saying this. He could have shut that question down from the outset. To me its clear that both parties are exploring their options, but likely out of courtesy nothing will be confirmed until the season ends
  7. Hes clearly on the look out for his next job which would suggest we have already explained the situation clearly
  8. Its entirely possible that the conversation has already been had with Selles than we aren't renewing him at the end of the season. Nobody has been appointed either and that the formalities of that may not happen until the season ends. Selles can hardly have any complaints that the club is in discussions with other managers. He was put in charge until the end of the season and results/performances have been diabolical. Hopefully we do this on the playing side too for a change. Identify targets early and bring them in before moving on those surplus to requirements or those being sold for sizeable fees
  9. The appointment may be metrics driven, but a possession based style of play got Burnley out of this league with ease. Its seems the club have looked at that template and I would also say that Wilcox, with what hes overseen at City's academy, has had an influence in this decision. A high pressing style of play will run out of steam across the 46 game season, as Bielsa found out in his first season at Leeds. We need something different and I can definitely get behind Russell
  10. Like Kompany last season 👍🏻
  11. "with the injuries to Perraud, Larios and Diallo being dogshit" If I had've put 'and' after the comma you might have had a case. Plus Larios is currently injured as I said Good effort though. Determined to be the forum pedant now MLG is gone 👍🏻
  12. I didn't say he was dogshit, I said Diallo was
  13. How do you work that out - Walcott and Moi are both out of contract and I'd be flabbergasted if AMN signed after his loan. I appreciate that JWP, Lavia and KWP are unlikely to be here, but we dont have any other options in those positions with the injuries to Perraud, Larios and Diallo being dogshit. The rest of the lineup is a nod to next season
  14. It has to be a big name manager Like Schumacher .....I'll get my coat
  15. Looking to next season.... Bazunu Bree Bednarek DCC KWP Lavia JWP Sulemana Alcaraz Stu Mara Selles has likely been told hes being binned off so hes unlikely to pick a team like this. We will still see Walcott, Moi and AMN ffs!!
  16. The playbook which helped the u23s win their league and the u18s reach the youth cup semis where they were beaten by the eventual winners. The first team have been dreadful, but thats almost certainly due to the quick turnover of managers/ideas, and not necessarily the playbook
  17. He obviously taught Mark Robins more
  18. For the 100th time to a poster on here, what does it matter what they achieved as a player? Lampard and Gerrard may have got that initial respect, but once the players seen their coaching abilities, that respect would have evaporated very quickly. What they've achieved as a manager on the other hand.....
  19. Yup Not sure what makes Carrick a better version of Nathan Jones. Both bottled the championship playoffs
  20. Think Carrick will get Boro promoted so that will rule him out* *will log in at 10pm tomorrow night to edit this post 😂
  21. Jones was right. Luton are one of the best teams in europe. Us on the other hand....
  22. Didn't Kaiser tells us all to lump on Jones being sacked later that day, only for it to be Marsch? Good authority is questionable

    Che Adams

During his spell here, he has at times shown us exactly what we need in a support striker, scored some excellent goals and helped link up the play....but he has also been as equally frustrating with his many missed chances. He should never have ended up as our best striking option after the summer window, but he never shyed away and always put in a shift. Think he would do a good job for us in the Championship given his exploits in the league previously. If we had a choice between Che and Tall Paul staying next season then I'd definitely opt for Che
  24. He never kept WBA up and he likely wont keep Leeds up. This firefighter title no longer applies. But I do agree that we seem to think we're above managers like this - bitbsurprising as Big Sam likes his moneyball analytics just like Rasmus
  25. That 'shift' has been lacking for many players during many games this season. Its also the very least they can do considering they're getting 30-80k a week The management has been piss poor, but the players need to be held accountable too. The amount of embarrassing mistakes - the manager cant do anything about that
