Context is crucial, particularly when you realise the worst posts were either; a) immediately after we had appointed RM b) 8/9 games into the season (bearing in mind the team were implementing a completely new style of play) c) after we had already secured a playoff spot Criticism is fine but neither situation warranted the overreaction it got from some posters. Some didnt want RM from the get go and that informed their opinion all season. Well, they want him now.

Bit unfair to put some of those players listed in the same bracket as AA and Bednarek. Both have had multiple seasons in the PL, in fact Bednarek was a mainstay in a mid table PL finish. Im not disputing that we need to strengthen throughout the team, just think both players can be a big part of a successful season back in PL
-
Relegation battle standard during the dismal end of Ralph's run and the shitshow that was Jones/Selles yes, but they look like players reborn under RM. We will strengthen around these two, but absolutely no reason why they cant be key players next season as we aim for relative safety. If we stand still we will be easily relegated but i imagine we'll be busy in the transfer window. Massive summer ahead
-
Having a quick stab at what the summer might look like. Ins THB, Downes, Fraser New GK, new LB, new DM, new winger, new CF x2 Outs McCarthy, Lis, Lyanco, Caleta-Car, Brooks, Rothwell, Sulemana, Adams, Onuachu, Mara Undecided Would like see Stu back, but he may want a new challenge. Of the many loanees out, ABK, Perraud and Alcaraz are the ones who could fit our style of play. ABK's injuries are a concern so we may wish to cash in. Perraud offers plenty going forward and is a better defender than Manning. Alcaraz proved he could do well in the PL and that was in a very poor team. The rest of the loanees I'd be happy to see the back of

He may have been 'shoehorned' in, but when it mattered in the last 4 games - including Leeds away which was crucial for confidence, he helped contribute to our defensive solidity. In recent years we've also bemoaned our lack of leaders, Jack is a great leader and was doing that even when he wasnt playing. Hes in the same bracket as McCarthy for me, very good Championship player and has proven he is more than capable of doing it in the PL, but most likely as a backup
-
Hope so. Would have been very confident in us signing him had Moyes still been there, but Lopategui will wipe the slate clean and give those on the fringes a chance

While hes been great for us in the run in, lets not get carried away. It wasnt long ago that he was throwing them in for us Hes a good keeper in the championship and a decent PL backup, but with Bazunu out long term we need a new number 1 next season

What a shite manager Sure hes never won anything and will never win anything with us Should have sacked him in September. RM just got on with it and got the job done. What a super season, picked up a team that was on its arse, played some great football and topped it all off by beating dirty Leeds in the biggest game. The club got it spot on with his appointment 👏🏼👏🏼

What a kick in the stones that would be for Ipswich. You would imagine that after b2b promotions he would want to lead them in the PL

Southampton 1-0 Leeds - Saints are Promoted!!

I can certainly live with another season in the championship, less so without THB, Downes and KWP. Three of the best players we've seen at our club the last few years -
Yes they havent invested much, but to describe the job hes done as unbelievable is a bit much. They still have most of the squad who were playing for them in the PL a few years ago - Bartley, Diangana, Furlong, Yokuslu, Townsend, Kipre, Phillips, Ajayi etc. They've also added Johnston (probably their best player) The playoffs was probably what was expected of them
-
Get off the fucking pitch. Let the players have a lap or two
-
WBA really arent that great. Apart from Mikey Johnston's pace and height at set pieces, they havent got much threat. If we play half decent then we will win comfortably. This is saints though, so expect an early gifted goal to WBA and us spending most of the game not being able to break them down 🙃
-
I'd be very surprised to see the likes of KWP, THB, Downes, Aribo, AA and Adams on the pitch
-
Well done to Ipswich, an incredible achievement. Obvious comparisons with us in 2012 with the back to back promotions. Might be biased, but our team was much stronger. Rickie Lambert or Kiefer Moore, Adam Lallana or Wes Burns, Morgan Schneiderlin or Massimo Luongo 🤔. Ipswich have been very average defensively, but their attacking style and resilience has made the difference. Would like to see them hold their own in the PL, but they'll need some excellent recruitment just to compete, such is the gulf between the top of the Championship and lower half of the PL right now
-
Makes no difference to us. Yes it would be good to win and not go into the playoffs off the back of 4 straight defeats. But we also dont need to risk any injuries to some of our starters. McCarthy Bree Stephens Bednarek Meghoma Smallbone Charles Edozie Rothwell Fraser Mara Not matter what the Ipswich result is in midweek, Leeds will still have a chance at automatic. They'll beat us and I've got a feeling that they'll nick 2nd place
-
19 goals conceded in our last 10 games is a joke for a team eyeing promotion. 22 more than Leicester, joint 8th worst defence in the league. Could you imagine how many we would concede in the PL should we get there and employ this same style. RM deserves most of the criticism but questions also need to be asked of the likes of Calderwood. Two defenders in their day and we cant defend for shit
-
"Players who fight and care will play" Thats Jack Stephens nailed on for the remainder of the season, likely at RB too 🤦🏽♂️
-
Automatic was gone already, but the zero reaction to Saturday's shit show and our mentality when we faced some adversity gives me little hope for the playoffs. Hope I'm wrong but defensively we have been a shambles for a while. If teams can frustrate us long enough, its game over as we'll always gift teams chances, especially from crosses Management and players need to take a serious look at themselves after that. Pathetic
-
Defensively Leeds are pish, a bit like us. Would love to see us deny them automatic in the final game and then do them at Wembley
