The Starmer Years - Can The New Broom Sweep Clean?
Jeremy Corbyn replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
True. If a party gets a majority with <30% then there has to be a conversation about first past the post. Even Labour having a stonking majority with 34% is clearly not great democratically. -

I think you make valid points about reform and Labour, but I just think the Tories are so unpopular because of the last few years of government that I don't see how they can generate enough support. If the current trajectory continues it's going to be a fascinating general election with a strong possibility of no parties over 30% and proper hung parliament territory with different options for government. -

Part of the issue is that they came in with a very specific and restrictive manifesto and when things haven't gone to plan (which they often don't), they've been hemmed in and reactive. That combined with a lack of a tangible vision (by the looks of it) and it all seems a bit wank. -
That's not a majority and I'm not sure anyone would join them in a coalition, so we're either talking an anti-reform coalition or a minority Reform.
-
I think with us there was an acceptance that we were likely to be bad in the prem regardless so there was less venom to it - what he's doing at Rangers is objectively worse I'd say.
-
This sort of thing is frustrating. Reform aren't particularly good or generally 'supportable' but Labour are completely failing to create a viable alternative that things like this don't seem to matter. If Labour pull their finger out and actually start operating like a progressive party it could actually make Reform look like the frauds they are.

Feels like even the boomers are starting to realise how much of a mess they've created, which I suppose is positive. -
Armel Bella-Kotchap - Official: Loaned to Verona

What a complete disregard to his own career he's shown. In the Germany squad at no age and since just nuked his career entirely. Real shame as clear (was) talented. -
London is probably the best city in the west, takes a certain level of personality to live there though so not for everyone. Much of the countryside is stunning and we're blessed with the mix of coastal areas and in land retreats. We're sort of tolerant. We have the best South Asian food outside of South Asia. We have a broad range of high level sporting interest which makes things more fun. We're incredibly lucky to be in such a stable part of the world.

Mentioned in the comments I was replying to.

Anyone who is resentful because women's football is associated with men's football needs therapy.

Best Foreign Born Players Playing for Saints

Salisu at left back, playing the hybrid LB / CB role that Ralf had him on allowing the RB to attack. -
Rangers job makes sense for such a purist if he's been promised patience. Can go all in on high possession football with no risk of relegation and lots of easier teams to practice against.
-
Do we? We have quite a bit of experience but a lack of ability / potential. Anyway, this tweet translated from German is clear he's a "back 3" centre back
-
A certain Kayne Ramsey is smashing it for them at right back, don't think Bree would start.

Promotion and relegation is a hugely valuable part of the game in this country at least. The part I would take from US sport is salary caps - just put limitations on teams to bring down the overall cost of football and evens up the playing field. Would need to be europe wide to work though and probably wouldn't be in the interests of the commercial types.
-
I know the attack and defence are poor, but that midfield 3 is just inexcusable for the premier league, none of those 3 players can even pretend to be this level.
-
Personally I think a free trade deal with the US would be hugely beneficial to the UK. We're a lower wage, cheaper country so would benefit in that sense and the noise about chlorinated chicken I think is a bit of red herring as that's not something the British public will actually buy into imo. If KS manages to wipe off the majority of tariffs, surely he'll gain a few points 😂
-
Have they had one? I know it was spoken about but I didn't think it actually happened? All the big players are still there as far as I can tell.
-
Starmer must be fuming with that MP for punching that guy. Labour's approach has been to hammer out unpopular but "necessary" policy in the first year before slowly introducing more positive and popular policies for the next few years. Last think they wanted was a bi-election in year one and now and "popular" policies are going to look reactionary. Think we might see a re-shuffle soon.
-
If we were to revert to a back 4 would Edwards and Wood as a starting pair (with the hope they step up and start to show premier league potential) be too risky?
-
Him and Edwards both smashing the champ and should be our core for the rebuild.
-
Edozie hardly tearing it up in Belgium, I think that one is straying in to the territory of disaster - was it £10m for him and Larios?
-
I know they've all been a bit shit this year. But a front three of BBD, CA and AA should be ridiculous in the championship if they can re-find their not so distant form.
