Yep, this will be the Torie's main ticket at the election I suspect. They don't really have strength in any of the main areas, they're even perceived as weak on immigration/international relations so I think they'll tone that down and go with a full blown attempt to scare middle class parents into thinking Starmer will spend his time as prime minister converting Daves to Debbies and Debbies to Daves. Will be interesting to see what Starmer/Labour do, the Trans stuff is an absolute minefield.

My only guess is that this latest re-shuffle and bringing Cameron back, is an acceptance by the great Tory establishment that they're pretty much stuffed and should focus on damage limitation. Bring together a government with experience, some competence and centrism for a year and their polling should improve a bit and they should avoid wipeout next year. Can't see bringing back Cameron as an election winning move though.

Surely Gallagher is a bit more attacking though. With Rice holding, you need someone who can cover when Rice surges forward (which he's very good at), so you need a proper box to box midfielder who can slot in as the defensive midfielder when required. Henderson, Phillips and Ward Prowse fit this mould, Gallagher isn't great defensively. I don't think JWP is a world beater, but I do think he's a good fit for that role and it does seem odd he's completely frozen out.

I was giving him the benefit of the doubt for being able to get a premier league job. I'd say there were quite a few factors behind our shitness.
-
He was absolutely awful for us and by the looks of it has been terrible at Reading. From his time with us I really didn't see any 'potential', just felt like a good coach who had no idea how to manage.
-
Sure there are a few clubs in the Prem who would take a punt on him for 3-4 million in January, but you'd have thought his best bet is to have a strong season in the championship and then get a range of offers when on a free in the summer.
-
Could see it as no lose, if they continue to be terrible he has an excuse, if they show any signs of life he can take credit for it and use it to look for another job in the division.
-
Agreed, and also it removes the predictability. One of our biggest weaknesses is the opponent know exactly what we're going to do.
-
My best guess is he thought he could get the same value out of A Armstrong and so didn't go for it.
-
Not true that he'd not managed before, extensive experience playing football manager.
-
To slightly defend him here, when Poch took over we were already playing half decent football under Adkins, it was less of a leap. RM has taken over a side that's been playing pretty dreadful (and unsuccessful) football for several years - it'll take long. Not that I think it's going well by any means.
-
If we get trounced here, bit of a red flag on the manager
-
Reckon we get a bit extra (compared to Celtic) with him going to Saudi?
-
Hopefully S A-A starts at the weekend and smashes it.
-
Too much money to turn down for a player of his level. Squeaky bum time though.

Mason Holgate - Official: Signs on Loan
Jeremy Corbyn replied to Toadhall Saint's topic in The Saints
Holgates comments suggest that 1. He's a CB and 2. He chose us over other options. Surely he wouldn't be happy to be backup in the championship? -

So in CB we now have JS, JB, Lyanco, ABK, Holgate with Woods heavily linked. Still hope we get Woods, and if we do a couple to leave at least I assume? -
You just made me physically shudder.

Or they're refusing to sell him to us

She also chose to record him - which suggests it wasn't the first time he acted like that.

I wonder though, Ronaldo hates him apparently and always has. If he has far reaching influence, could make it difficult.

Big fan of AA as an 8, was brilliant today.

Would have done a better job than Selles, Jones and Pellegrino tbf.

Certainly was excellent at Forest and very much the marauding full back RM likes, not played much in the last year so hopefully hasn't dropped off.

Think it was discussed previously but there is a change Small was a very good 17 year old rather than a 17 year old with high potential, which are very different things. The fact that, ironically, he's a big lad will have given him a short term advantage.
