So, some millionaire who bought their property 30 years ago, is just fine and will probably pay less for their services than the poor person from Blackpool not sure that will pass the Labour sniff test. Or, buy a £150k house and spend £1m adding to it. job done, system bypassed.

Surely your recent renovations would make your property a great deal more valuable than your purchase price (not even taking into account property price inflation), so I would expect your monthly/yearly charge to reflect that. 0.48% seems enticing for some, until it is routinely increased, probably widely by some local authorities.
