  1. The signing of Snake Plissken took many by surprise, but none doubted his ability to destroy an opposition attack...defence...team bus...stadium...
  2. Good for their development. I've not seen much of Ballard, but liked SAA and was hoping to see him feature more last season.
  3. I guess people can get bored with utopia after a while. 🙂
  4. A few weeks back, I read the 1st few lines of a standard SOG post. It was full of the usual whataboutery and deflection. I stopped, realising there was no point, as he hasn't learned a thing since he joined here. From the pages of the Guardian, and the mouth of James O'Brien to our screens. I found the ignore function. Having paid the fiver, we were getting a torrent of this stuff, that would make a water utility blush. My post above was based on watching the responses to the same old approach, and another thread going the same way. I've managed to be part of a stalking group, when I've got the person I'm stalking on ignore, and can't have responded directly to in a while. Still, a T-Shirt is a T-Shirt. I can put screenshots on how the ignore function works for you SOG, as it's something else you regularly struggle with.
  5. The squad show off their new pink onesie kits, with variations for away, third and 'keepers outfit on the right. The delay in release due to main sponsor, Moonpig, making sure the dinosaurs looked fierce enough, and that the FA were on board in protecting players' heads from injury with the likes of party hats.
  6. Champion of democracy. Right up to the point it doesn't meet his world view. Then it's clearly wrong, and must be changed. A thread springing forth from "I'm not knocking democracy" before proceeding to do exactly that, and moan on about it endlessly. From the guy who called someone out for not entering his voting poll. Not that they had to was the follow up. So, why call it out? Very democratic. Where any democratic vote going in a way they disagree with is a "sham" and where the link to PR given tells us that it's what all the "advanced" nations are doing. "If we believe in democracy..." Pathetic.
  7. Lessons in comedy #32 The original idea is important. But it's the delivery that gets the laughs (and likes in this case). 🙂
  8. 5 players in, but still really need replacements for Downes, Stu, Fraser, A right sided attacker and Che. And that's being generous in thinking Lallana has been brought in as direct competition across the midfield 3.
  9. His agent pretending to the new manager that his client is in demand?
  10. I don't disagree. I was just picturing a group that had no idea, hanging on our every post for some kind of sign. Chewy mentioned GKs. I had started on a line with Romeu replacements. But I took it out to maintain the comedy focus. So, that worked well for me. 🙂
  11. Just had a thought of them sitting round a table reading our posts... "Ah hell, they're right! We *will* need an extra player there!" 🙂
  12. It seems, due to the obvious outcome of this one, Labour have been in increasing contact with the civil service as far back as January. That was to establish relationships and strategies on how manifesto commitments could be implemented. Sue Gray has been running a team to help execute these plans. So, they've been at work for quite a while to hit the ground running.
  13. Super penalties. A game where England showed one bit of higher tempo play, that got them a goal. The rest of the time was lack luster and Pickford ended up having to make late saves. Silly for it to be like that.
  14. One team happy to sit back for penalties. Then happy to hang on for penalties. And that was England. The Swiss brought on a Burnley player, to a decently organised side and England's stars sruggled to cope.
  15. Good to see England proactive after the equaliser. Proactively making sure they fall back into predicta-football. Another bit of individual magic needed.
  16. Another bit of individual brightness, lifts the lack of energy of the team.
  17. Wow. Adopting a hanging on tactic, when they weren't hanging on. Sitting back and back, inviting pressure. And there you have it. Belated subs now?
  18. Plenty of possession. Not much to show for it. Some decent movement, with Saka having freedom. If they double up on him, it might create some space elsewhere. Mainoo getting some freedom too. Early, with a more wing back look, the Swiss got to exploit the flanks. But that faded away during the half. England need to be sharper in getting a final ball in. A change in tempo will make all the difference. Just have to bedside to have enough cover if it breaks down and Mainoo isn't central.
  19. I thought the one and only was Chesney Hawkes? 🙂
  20. A quick check says that out of 16 Euros participated in (including qualification, and not entering the first one), England have got past the group stages only 7 times. 2 of those campaigns involved Hodgson and 2 are under Southgate. Southgate absolutely sets out a team to secure 4 points, ideally in the first 2 games. Completely removed the pressure of having to win a one off game. My view is that, while it might be far from entertaining, it gets the side through, which is what he's employed to do.
