Great to see a final finish. Their keepr might have blocked it better, but good to see him go in and take the shot. Of course, within a minute we give it away. π

So far AA offers more in a different position. He can still get lots of appearances while Che/Che replacement plays up front.

I think a new contract wasn't agreed when we were in the division above, when he was still on prem league wages. So, he's more likely to want to get back to at least that, and possibly more, with his new club. A lower fee, as he's in his final year, could boost those wages further. SR 's policy has been to lower the wage bill and offering such a deal would go against that. It's a policy they stick with, even as they brought in players last window in desperation, that may cost us more overall. The minute the others hear about it, they'll all wonder why they can't renegotiate their contracts to offset the 40% drop penalty. That might impact performances. So, while it's no bad thing to have such flexible options in mind, J can see reasons why neither side would want it, on this occasion.

That's probably what it comes down to. If we were still in the Premier League, and the 2 sides couldn't agree a new contract, then I'd have said it made sense to use the money we get to invest in someone to be at least as good on a longer contract. In this division, it still makes sense to do that. Even with Adams being likely to get more goals. Except, SR's recruitment was appalling last window, and they utterly failed to get more than Mara in the window before that. Based on that, then Adams' increased goals tally makes him more valuable to us. With SR's track record in this department, it could make the difference between going up or not. If a club meets SR's valuation, they had better be as sure as possible that the replacement really will be able to make as much difference. It is a little tough having faith that it will be done right. Adams being replaced poorly will cost us. Adams being replaced well is the best scenario for all parties.

They would get stolen from the British Museum, which would be a tragic loss to the nation. π

Appreciate you taking the time to explain your reasoning. I can't say I'm in two minds, even agreeing with rehabilitation and with there being no conviction. The club represents us and our communities. The behaviour you point out underlies his personality and views. There's no indication any of that has changed, regardless of the status of his relationship with his partner. We shouldn't be offering to hand hold him through that process. Currently, his views are toxic and absolutely not in keeping with our club, or us. His footballing ability and availability are nowhere near as important. Press reaction is also far less important, but has a different impact. If there was a universal press campaign to get him to join us, we should still say no. Because of the above values. Employing him could lead to a breakdown in relationships to our other employees and with the community. Press coverage, which is likely to be the opposite of the above, would alert any sponsors already not concerned. And they would be right to be concerned, as we'd be going against our values. Withdrawal of their support would have a financial impact that makes signing him a waste financially, but even more so due to the reputational damage. It would diminish us as a club and us as supporters of it. So, an absolutely not from me

Immensely proud they got to the final. On the day, they were beaten by the better side. Both teams had their chances. But despite England having more possession in their opponent's penalty area well into the first half, the better of them were from Spain. England, without the creativity of Mead were more direct, looking for the physicality of Russo. When that went, they looked a bit flat, resulting in an England and Bright combo, with James supporting. Spain Sussex out how to get into the vacant full back position, created by England's 3 at the back. England were always vulnerable to attacks from wide, in a competition with a lot of team who can ping long balls from deep. Bronze has been caught a few times in this tournament. Usually giving away passes on the flank. But the balance is the work rate, positioning and control she gives at other times. While England did struggle to chase the game, and Earps (taking Bronze's advice for the pen) kept them in it, they can look back at the moment Hemp's shot hit the bar. Spain's posession after going a goal up, played to their strengths. One of Spain's players could well have been shown a red for being silly and kicking the ball away. Harsh for a world cup final, but the player was key in keeping England at bay. But to grasp at such moments shows how hard England found this one. But in the end a game too far, with a team that did so well despite missing personnel (as had Spain). Hopefully, we'll continue to see the side refreshed over the next couple of years with up and coming talent, to give the side a few more options. The whole team did everyone proud.

Here's hoping FIFA are giving a large chunk of that to developing the women's game, if they haven't been doing so already.

Why would she take such a massive step down? The role profile for the post here has recently been:- - Talk about how amazing you are while mentioning front footed and swivelling your eyes. - Have a nice pullover and stubble while giving the same answers regardless of result. π

I thought he'd find somewhere overseas. And with so many lucrative offers appearing in the middle east, perhaps there. He offered some positive moments at the end of our nose dive last season.

If a player is reluctant to come here, I'm happy we move onto other targets. Our big outlay last January was pretty much a disaster. So, it's not all about the doe.
