Ha ha... we DONT claim to be the 'best fans in the world' - like 99.9% of clubs we have the same mixture, noise makers , wierd and various levels of dedication to travel - its far bigger than yours, but when does size matter - its your constant assertion that you are taht is so ridiculous based on absolutely no evidence that is so laughable - yet when presented with equally dubious anecdotal eveidence that you are not, its suddenly not sufficient? Where are the 220,000 you claimed now? or more like where are the 5000 that failed to fill yor ground at most home games this season - sure we dont fill ours anly average 25k this year, but we aint claiming to be the best - surely the best would not have desserted the pompey ship just because of few bad results and dodgy owners?

I am sure you have some decent fans, good loyal fans - but this 'myth' you have created is just that - as you will see when IF you are lucky enough to trot out in L1 under Chinny for your first home game with about 6000 showing up - a far cry form the 220,000 'fans' creaming themselves over a cup win - ask yourself where are they now in your hour of need? As to atmosphere and noise, your ground is the last of the sh!ty sheds that hold the sound and are placed in on the touch line - no wonder its loud and 'atmospheric' + put teh smae 14K in a decent modern stadium and you will see you are just the same as everyone else... not that you are likely to get that chance in the forseable - and for that the clubs only has itself to blame - everyone knows it, yet some just cant stop bleating its 'all so undeserved' - that is what's so unbelieveable about the fans - blame everyone but their own club, lap up 4 england internationals on championsleague wages and lord it up - did no one care to question ho it was possible on a 18k gate? Dance with the devil and you get burned - and your 220,000 best fans in the world were too busy believeing the hype to see the flames...

Cant say one is more important than teh other - they are different - Cup finals are all about occasion and tophies - promotion is all about progress and development - yes the money makes it such a huge game, but only if you intend to sit on it and are happy to get relegated - otherwise the money is merely relative to the expenditure needed to compete - it really only becomes an issue if relagted with loads of ong term expensive contracts on your books. So me nothing can replace the cup finals, but promotion demonstrated the development and given how hard it is to get out of the NPC, its vital that we do it now.

All true, but I guess what I an others are trying to convey is that it has NOT happened yet, we still have that game to go and with the talen, graft and spirit + a little bit of luck and teh fact that we must ahve some bottle to still be top two, chances are we will do it. IF we do fail and if its a result of poor performanace under pressure, we will have teh whole summer to wallow in it and pick at teh carcus of the season. Now is all about belief and getting excited by the prospect surely? I am sure that you will acknowledge that being top 2 all seaosn for thsi squad, frailties and all has been a great achievment and yes it means sod all if it come sto nothing, but because of that consistency (and as we are second we cant say we have not been consistent), and teh neteratinment this squad has given us, I believe they have erned the right for us to believe in them. After saturday we will be in one of two positions: we are up and we can breathe a collective sigh of relief and begin the summer months of waiting for signing news and speculation, or we will be in the play off lottery - and if we are then we have a choice - give up or give it a go... I am just saying we shoudl not give up until the fat lady does her thing. All I and others are trying to persude you about is doing the same, dont give up when its still in our hands

Sorry Alps you are at it again - with 'capitulation' and 'taken the shine off promotion' - do you really mean that? Promotion will taste all the more sweeter because it has been earned - and this iside has been top 2 al season BECAUSE its had more bottle realtive to the others over that time. If we screw up oon Saturady, we screw up - **** happens... and it will be painfull to see after such a cracking season, but to suggest this is because the side has somehow contrived to throw it away is disengenuous - This is football and twists and turns have happened as we have seen, you need to have the footbaling gods smile on you to go up and I believe we are due a bit of that after the last few weeks. You are certainly entitled to your opinion... but before you go hide in a cupboard with your favourite soft toy, stick underpants on head and two pencils up your nose as say 'wibble' .... maybe you should ask yourself if this team has no bottle why are we currently second 2 points clear? This is football FFS, ther have been plenty of times we have played poorly and won, plently of times we have dominated and draw or even lost, and yes teh odd occasion where we have played poorly and lost and deservedly so. I know expectations have been raised by the cracking start and a top two position all season, but it obvious to anyone that there are the odd frality in quality - given we are a Championship side and not champions league, does that really surprize anyone? We are where we are BECAUSE this side HAS Bottle, Heart and a spirit of unity that has been developed over the last 3 years, not becaus eof lack of it. Luck plays a part and despite Cov being down, we will like all teams need our fair share, especially with nerves and pressure, but we also know that there is real quality in teh side and that if that shines we would win 99/100. I cant predict what will happen, whether we get the luck this side has made for itself and deserves, but I do know they will give it everything. Get behind the side and worry about all the issues you feel the side has in summer - and I suspect that it will be ficused on how to avoid a drubbing at Citeh in the opening game of next season. This is what we are fans for in my book - real Roy of the Rovers opportunity for Saints players - excitement drama and nerves a jangling. Somethings i life are worth waiting for and taste far sweeter because they are earned. Nervous as hell, yeah, positive, yep, but come on no one not even the worst of teh pessimist cant say that this is going to be anything other tahn one hell of a mad 90+ minutes. If it went against ius, we will have all summer to be miserable and talk about what ifs and analyse failings etc - now is not that time, now is the time for men, we band of brothers, once more, together, as one blah blah... Going to bed - did not watch as working from home - important deadline tomorrow - will say only this. The only issue is there will be some players who depsite the big wedge and contract will consider it a step too far from a career stand point and look to to get out even if it does mean a paycut and stay in the Cahmpionship.
