Form over 45 games has us second. Only form guide that matters in my humble opinion.

I suspect that there is some 'life' in them yet, they will hang around embarrassisngly, not so much lik a heavy fart, but like 80s ITV comics and the baldy magician who ****s his assistant - unwelcome when they were actually popular but had somehow blinded the masses to their total utter lack of talent, even worse when dragged out in some pitiful fit of nostalgia. The saddest part thjough will be the sad end to this thread - somehow, rallyboy, you manage to capture the very essence of all that is completely fricken hilarious about what has to be the saddest club in Football history... such material will not be seen again.

Where did you leave the family neuron this evening? ****

well you need help

feck is that proper as in 'right propa'? some of you obviously watched the Firm/football factory too many times and think its cool to all dress up is 'propa gear' - can see you all now slagging the clowns whilst you all dress in your 'branded casual sports wear... a symbol of feck all individuality ... hilarious
-
Cant believe some folk are so feckin sad and insecure that thay feel the need to comment on how other fans behave, dress etc.. who gives a flying feck what the sad morona at other clubs think... jeez

With apologies to Rudyard.... IF we can get it on Rickie’s head from open play, and fans stop Shouting at ‘Fonte’ and blaming it on you, If you can trust Nige when some fannies doubt him, But make allowance for their doubting too; If you can wait and not be tired by waiting, for promotion, and don't deal in lies, Or players being hated, don't give way to hating, And yet look good, to claim the prize: If you can dream - and not make dreams your master; If you can think - and not make misery your aim; If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster And treat those two impostors just the same; If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken Twisted by fannies to make a trap for fools, Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken, And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools: If you count the points from all our winnings And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss, And lose, and start again at your beginnings And never breathe a word about your loss; If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew To serve your turn long after they are gone, And so hold on when there is nothing in you Except our Nige who says to them: 'Hold on!' If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue, ' Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch, if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you, If all men count with you, but none too much; If you can fill the unforgiving 90 minutes With songs ' Oh when the Saints go marching In’, Yours is the Prem and everything that's in it, And - which is more - you'll no longer be a fanny, son!

If we get promoted will we have bus tour around city?
Frank's cousin replied to Roger's topic in The Saints
Norwich - bus tour - Mike Bassett - enough said - when we have NC and Adkins parading tthe champions league trophy, then we can have a bus tour... otherwise its screams mickey mouse club... -
which we could do with a fit Lee.... its not always just about quality, luck plays its part to.

Feeeling down and emotionally upset does not make you one of the wet fannies - the criticism of the wet fanies stems from the fact that in many cases they give the impression that they would rather be proved right and we miss out on promotion so that their 'predictions' of doom, and incompetence and failure by the players are proven to be correct than see us over the line... that is why they get abuse, not because they are naturally and rightfully dissapointed. Worrying, being nervous is fine, some cope some dont, but wanting to be proven right more than seeing us promoted is the issue. At teh start of the season, I thought we would be around 8th or 7th - so I obviously know feck all about football as we are second and nearly there - do I give a shyte that my footballing knowledge has been shown up to be pathetic? NO I am GLAD i obviously know sod all and the side has done so much better. Folk that predict 17th and or that we will bottle it and then defend it by stating they so hop that they can come back next week and 'shove it down your throat' are what we are talking about. Those that are stryuggling with nerves, scared, might need to grow some, but are not the wet fannies that are being discussed...just maybe sightly moist

Cheers FL, you won the pot deservedly, although I feel, we would have made it closer had we not had Lee out for tehe last five games - he was just gelling and gave us a bit more pace and guile, which is needed to unlock better defences and pace to get behind teams that press high up like boro did yesterday. Keep a watchful eye on those Russkies though... some 'interesting' background has been dug up already and we all know the FAPPT is a pretty poor 'sanity check' compared to a simple internet trawl.. ;-)

It what ****es me off most about the Chambo sale - he cold have had a full season of championship games under his belt and gone to the Gunners with more chance of a starting place - but the kids seem happier at a big club on teh bench/reserves than playing each week - had he been part of a promotion and championship winning side, he would have gone with our blessing.
-
True, but can you imagine that side with Lee and Oxo... sadly we cant do anything about injury or teenagers and their dads desperate for a short cut to success
-
What I hate most is the attack on the integrity and adkins as 'failures' - I honestly believe Adkins knew exactly what we needed, added pace, guile and unpredictability to deal with sides like Boro, who have a smart manager and pressed us high up - which is why he brought in Lee, who befor his injury was just startimng to Gell nicely. For me, I think with Lee in te side we may have beaten Reading and Boro and be sitting top as champions - but in a hughly competitive league where we dont have infinite resources, its these fine lines that make the difference. In addition, our momentum and form were disrupted in November through injuries to Rickie and Adam and Chappers - and we have not quite reached the same heights as during those first 12 games - as other sides have picked up their game. Emotional reactions to defeat is normal, but I would expect more reflection and acknowledgement of what we have achieved in the cold light of day from fans who like to suggest they know something about the game.
-
In fairness , Mowbory (spelling?) set out a decent plane against us - pressing us high up to not let us play our usual patient build. When we therefore injevcted a bit of urgency into things with quicker movement we did create opportunity, but we did not seem to do this enough, but thats understandable after a long hard season and with the pressure. Cant moan too much about the ref decsions and the chaplow injury, yep they both impacted on the game, but these things happeen in football week in week out and sometimes it works in your favour, other times against. I still think we showed we have what it takes and will get the final result we need. No doubt this squad has been unbelieveable and given us three cracking seasons, drama, enteratinment and some graet play, but if promoted or not, think we do need to add a bit of pace - Lee is what we have missed these last 5 games or so - he was just comminginto his own, adding a bit of guile, pace and unpredictability to our game - so to those who believe adkins does not se things as we do, this suggests he does.... had we had Lee fit, I think we would be sitting top now as he would have provided the missing ingredient against Reading and certainly yesterday. Blue line, on to the next and last game - win and we go up, Its as simple as that.

Always loved Primus - been going over te back catalogue of late - takes me back to the College days...

Would you talk about your own daughter in that way? I suspect you are still a spotty teenager so will hopefully grow out of it..... jeez.

Thing is everyone does express emotion, its the beauty and curse of this game that you get sucked in and end up so emotionly drained when following teh highs and lows of any side. No one is saying you cant express that or opinion on performance etc, but IMHO given where we currently find ourselves it is simply wrong to question the 'integrity' of the team. Others obviously agree and that is why the abuse is hurled. Not at expressed opinion, but at what some consider to be simply wrong. We have played some cracking football this year. We have been poor at times. We have rode our luck at times, yet also been unlucky (the lady can be a right b**** at times), but throughout we have have been in the top two which is remarkable and any side which lacked bottle or heart would not be in our position - that IMHO is a simple fact. Sport and football is also all about confidence and ability to deliver consistent high levels of performance - which is a tough thing to do both physically and psychologcally. To expect 100% all the time is unrealistic, but out of 24 clubs we have achieved the highest level of consistency and performance bar 1 otehr club... I would say thats pretty good... and thus questioning teh integrity seems like a frustration too far in my book. Anyway, been a tough week at work, still got loads to do, so I will bid all you fannies, wet, dry and just a little moist a good night. Chin up we just need to delay teh Party a little. Alps, hang in there mate. You suffer the the emotional sings to extremes so its bound to get you down, but it IS only football and if you were able to see the game and what it meant to Billy Sharp when he scored today, you would have seen that life is not all about a 2-1 defeat at 'Boro. 8 more days and it will be over...
-
Like all good drama, it goes to the final day.
Frank's cousin replied to Colinjb's topic in The Saints
er we were never 8 points clear when level on games Alps, the best has been 5 and at one point we were also behind... its been ups and downs for sure, but that was to be expected in a division that is as tough as thins one... seriously where we are right now despite teh disspointmnet of today, is nothing short of fantastic - yes we need to get over the line, and I am sure we will do... thats my perspective -
It has been mentioned by other posters on this thread and others, (not aimed at you) but even 3 weeks ago, to assume an easy ride would be disengenous at best.... we saw how hard Hudders pushed us last season against lesser qaulity sides and we had slip ups along the way... Sometimes you need a bit of luck... like we had against Leeds, but that has deserted us on many occasion this season - we will get there, but it was NEVER going to be easy.
-
Funny thing is who is this smug Adkins? In te 3 years years he has been here I dont recall him being smug at any time... positive, friendly, driven and humourous yes, but never smug or arrogant - I believe racist down the road has been rather arrogant in that time, although not had much chance to do that this season...
-
Because anyone who believes the championship would be an easy ride to glory, even when we have been there or thereabouts all season is naive in the extreame - IT was always going to be tight and as good as the team is, its not the best, despite the pretty football. We are where we are because we strated on fire and got ourselves ahead whilst the others got their act together and its been far more even since - Sides BATTLE more in this division so thsoe who feel we should have simply strolled over teh line against a side who had been given a massive boost by the cardiff result, at home and in 7th place are also misguided,... sorry. Yes its a test of character and committment, but we cant simply dismiss the side a 'gutless' when we have seen them bounce back after many a dissapointment - I believe we will get the job done whatever WHU do, but the assumption that it would be easy is disrrespectful to the qulaity in the division... and WHU are where they are because of exactly that arrogance.
-
Alps - we have risen some 42 league places in under two seasons since Adkins took over with a squad that is not the best in world but a is reasonably good Championship standard, through graft, team spirit and a desire to play a open passing game, that will always leave a side open to defeats along the way. Now as dissapointed as everyone is about todays result, we still have the destiny of this season in our own hands - thats over 45 games - it in our hands to go up automatically against the odds at the start of the season. Calling it a f uck up before the event is throwing in the towel, exactly what you are are accusing the squad of doing... dont you see the irony in that? If we dont go up it, like must I will be fricken dissapointed, and yes next season would be a challenge to match this, given the likely hangover from such a situation, but you simply cant say that this side has not beaten all expectation over the seaosn and as a result it certainly deserves our support and respect for what they have achieved to date, let alone for what we should achieve next weekend.

This - top summary of every reason why this thread has gone on so long... The Skates may complain that we would say that given the rivalry, but although I would still be quite happy to see portsmuff relegated at any time, I would still have the normal sympathy of any football fan if they were in a same boat as Coventry et al...
