  1. Why hide to date? specultation.... 1. He may not want to involved at all - but has been convinced of the importance of the club to the community and has agreed to fund if someone else agrees to run and leaves him out of it. 2. Its a controvercial figure 3. Its a decent man who wants to ensure he is not ripped to shreds by an over zealous fan base if it falls through through no fault of his own 4. Its a well recognised name who just wants top stay anonymous to prevent a media circus distracting from completing the deal.
  2. OK - I am going to suggest a compromise as as fans we should be looking for things that UNITE us rather than divide us. IF crouch is given some non-exec role, despite my own misgivings, I am prepared to still get fully behind the new board in FULL - and I suggest we ALL do the same - If he then has further bad gaff moments or starts to encourage overspend etc we can judge him on that if and when, but above all, lets look to things that UNITE rather than divide - us naysayers re CRouch can then say 'I told you so' when he makes a gaff ;-)
  3. 1. MLT has no 'baggage' and no board history and will most likely be in a role designed to maximise his skills - or in a non exec capacity and he has no experience of boardroom level FC management - so is a nEW face in that respect and a unifying one at that. As to successful business people - when this was debated previously many said that LOwes previous retirement home success etc was irrelevent as it was NOT the same as managing a football club which needed different buisness as well as communication skills - so your point here is not really valid - Leon has been successful in his chosen field - this does not mean he WILL be succesful inffotball, and to date his communications and actions have not filled all with confidence other than the fact he is NOT lowe or Wilde... PS like you I would be equally unhappy with Lowe or Wilde back in the frame so its nothing to do with that...
  4. No one is doubting or questioning his abilty in his area of expertise such as the firms he has built up - but as we saw with Lowe, previous success in another industry does not necessarily mean skills are transferable... and financial and passionate support is appreciated and welcomed, but that is no substitute for ghettig the best we can get. It was an argumnet made by many that we should not be judging on the 'best of a bad bunch' when some were advocating Lowe or Rouch, but about the best we can get..
  5. Depends - To move forward we need progressive and experienced heads that unite TBH, and therefore should be avoiding making boardroom positions available as 'rewards' for the positives of the past - in effect, it could be seen as 'buying a seat'. So alot depends on the role and what contribution he makes in future, not on the past record... Leon contributed to the April wage bill and has help financially in the past so there is no denying he is passionate about Saints and is a genuine fan, but he is not without ego or a 'history' and that history does contain commmercial errors IMHO - so alot depend on who else is there and who has the say.
  6. Nex - Pancake that is, not me ...
  7. Never understood why some fans had a problem with what he said - maybe the ruth hurts now and again - all he said was stay aways hurtig the club - and that was TRUE, MOre fans at games will have a positive impact - less fans less dosh, less atmosphere Manager calls for fans to attend big shock... some folk are so over sensitive when it comes to being criticised yet you are quite happy to sling the dirt/ insults in his direction publically as witnessed by some of teh comments on this and other threads really daft - what are ya all big girls? 'Mummy the nasty manager who we hate because he does not seem very good and Lowe empoyed him said we were crap fans because we stopped going when the we were not winning...' ..... Jeez
  8. Not elevent and a totally different scenario - that was a question of ethics - Ron may have promised not to reveal any detail and promises should be hoored - I also cant believe MJ would have gotten very far realistically, and that Ron is probably wrong i this case, but If you knew Ron, you would not questiopn his integrity.
  9. Ron, I respect your opinion and your loyalty on this to MJ does you justice - Its good to know that such qualities still exist. But my concern is that you do need to let the masses speak their mind and form their own opinion. Naturally this can only be based on what we know and past experience. Ron, I guess what you are basing your opinion on is what Marc has told you directly. I am sure you are also wise enough to sift the facts from teh bull, but he hooked us in last time and I have not seen or heard anything that suggests he has changed - its very possible that he took it some way and made contact with various potential backers, but in reality could you see MJ really leading a successful bid for Saints?
  10. Pope mobile was spotted though - as I am pretty sure the Vatican is interested in Saints and Pope Benedict will install a Otmar Hitzfeld as Head Coach. (Being German and all) and I have it on good authority that Bratwurst will be served in the concourses as well as Quality German Pilsner to replace that Carlsberg guff.... You heard it hear first
  11. TBF its good to see him act professionally and with dignity - still ahve no problem with hima going back the academy - but a clean break is more likely. Makes a change from the usual whingers and moaners.
  12. So a Junior Branson (must be a saint) or David Beckham - or Elton John ... now we are getting somewhere ;-)
  13. hey its a slow day at work...what can I say?
  14. What made her cross?
  15. ;-) - sadly its an in joke buct... NSS is an old man and failed to recognise my stylish Oakleys - assuming they were Aviators... ;-) So be comforted in the knowledge that I dont do Bling or Rolex. A Patek Philippe maybe , but not a Rolex.... ;-)
  16. You know for one so wise to the fact you speak alot of incomprehensible garbage...oh and have absolutely no sense of irony, humour etc...
  17. See this NSS fellow, hes really a Saint at Heart I think, He felt our pain when releagted and said he would rather see Pompey relegated from teh prem than us go out of business... ;-) I can say that baout him as hes too tight to cough up a fiver and get more than 3 daily posts! ;-) are you not?
  18. Doh! you been asleep? ;-)
  19. Maybe only with Alpine and could I be blamed? ;-)
  20. No need to be pparanoid ;-) I know him well and hes a decent honorable chap - happens to be the cheif fundraiser for a very good charity and has owrked and knows MY Lynam very well. He NSS says this I am well chuffed.
  21. Wish I had your wisdom master..... Alps its called opinion and you form one based on information you recieve and how much value and truth you see in that info....as I have had to say to you about 1000 times... I will be hugely supportive of the new owners but also critical where warranted as we are entitled to do... none of us 'luvvies' as you call us are concerned Lowe has gone, we are looking to a more pleasent future and hope that the new owners HAVE learned from everyones past mistakes, Lowes, Wildes and even Crouch's (for you, you may delite crouch as in your opinion he is blameless as all sins are forgotten due to his donations - bit like pardon selling pre reformation..but I digress) but that does not mean they wont make mistakes. Respect and support have to be earned Alpine and just because someone has bucket fulls of cash to spend does not give them those things by right - they must earn them like the rest of us.
  22. Hi Good news from NSS - he has a 'special relationship' with Mr Lynam ;-) (sorry No shot) he he... so his word on this is to be trusted more than most and hes a pompey fan! I would imagine that if Pinnacle can up lose ends before 21 days they wil do - the 21 days being teh period of exclusivity - it might even be that they dont, and others can make rival bids but Pinnacle are still first to complete which from what NSS says seems most likely. I would imagine that both Barclays and the major creditors will be happy with the deal and signed up in principle before Fry entered the exclusivity deal
  23. Alpine - I had been 'WRONG' I would say so, I just dont see how anyone can be wrong on believeing that administration is in any way good even if it brings down a boardroom and thats your desire - its is simply to graet a risk and I wont change my mind on that. By luck rather than judgement w emight just might come out of this for the better and have a future - we dont know what yet, but here's hoping, but to assume this back when you were advocating administration to oust Lowe is frankly ridiculous. If you could have 100% guarranteed the outcome of a new owner with potentially a few mil a season to help us along the way, i would have taken that like everybody else, but you could not - you advocated a risk which for most was too great. We could have and could still go out of business and if we do I wont be gloating about it to score cheap points.
  24. Like the radio station and teh Insurance services? ;-) Only kidding - The thing developmenst though Wes is that its all subjective. In most towns the centres are dead because of these out of town developments and we all criticise our council planners for letting it happen, and fair play to Eastleigh BC for standing firm. But, To be fair the Club were not asking for things not already granted in other towns and cities - such as Bolton etc - I dont know maybe we did not dish out enough brown envelopes? ;-) (JOKE by the way to all you legal bods out there) Just seems a bit much to add this one to teh list of woes to grace Lowes tenure because if you read Full Time at teh Dell, its clear teh club wanted to move for over 30 years becore we eventually did and nothing came of it. Finally the prem cash and the financial scrutiny provided by a PLC status did allow us to loan the cash and it happened - yet its never seen as anything positive if Lowe is included in the equation, just seems rather churlish and unfair - there is enough to criticise lowe for without pinning the problems associated with planning on him to?
