Jeez, its just a bit or irony aimed at the very type that do nothing but snipe - Alpine have you met Nick and spoken to him? Sure you might not agree with all his views, fair enough, nor do I, but when i met him and spoke with him, you would be hard pushed to find a more dedicated fan - oh and by the way, before jumping to conclusions, you may like to know his opinion on LOwe was not what you would like to believe - just because someone believes change can be brought about through CONSTRUCTIVE dialogue does not mee you support those with which you engage....

Three pieces of advice for the new owner
Frank's cousin replied to saintbletch's topic in The Saints
6. if not well versed in the media, get some PR/Media training - never too late to learn and part of the biggest problems that the previous regimes had was they were all crap in the media. -
The name wont change, but dont be surprized if we see a special new badge next season anyway as we celebrate 125 years in 2010 - good revenue potential for teh commemorative season shirt! And an excelent marketing opportunity to bring in new fans by making the most of the historic year - done right this could relaunch us and start to get kids interested in the LOCAL club rather than being glory hunters - soon as you get the majority of kids in a class behind saints the rest will follow. New owners have this very positive opportunity - lets hope they dont waste it

Three pieces of advice for the new owner
Frank's cousin replied to saintbletch's topic in The Saints
1. Live within our means - we dont want to go through this crap again 2. Learn to manage fan expectations - 2 wins on the trot and we think we will walk the league and then blame the board for no ambition when we dont 3. Make a NEW start - with teh ovious MLT exception (he has a very clean slate afterall) dont be tempted by nostalgia that you think may appeal to fans - will only divide opinion - we cant live in the past 4. Give it to us straight - dont hide behind a silver tongue and fan platitudes - if things are bad - say so and support will be there 5. If possible, dont be tempted to employ local 'comedians' as pre of half time entertainment... -
Like I said Mickey - the vast majority of fans have never been anything other than united - its only a few of us emotionally scarred, soft in teh head obssive types on here that were verbally kicking each other - and why not, its quite entertyaining really

I suspect stanley that you may one day need to do a Maths refresher if you believe those figures to be true... ;-)
-
To be fair Wes Stanley started this provocative thread to get a reaction and he did... I have no problem with that, Its opinion and we all have one, we disagree and we try and argue oour POV... it really only becomes 'divisive' as we all like to say - becauise that word is so emotive in a fan base and it serves those with an agenda to believe its to be so. The reality IMHO is that teh fans were not divided over Lowe or even CRouch as soem of us were accused of ... we had a huge majority that simply wanted to watch football and see tehi club win... we than have a coupe of tousand who were vocal against Lowe and then a few hundred if that who like the rest of us on a web forum tend to be the most vociferous with the biggest bees in our 'bonnets' (not actually syaing you wear a bonnet - but what you do behind closed doors..;-) ) Seriously its opinion spouted to get reaction and in most case stry and engage in debate, but w always geta few that see the fun in wind up or take it all too seriously - guilty as charged on ocasion myself... I enter the debate with teh likes of Alpine and Stanley because that is what these web based sites are for... If I have no interest in a thread I tend to avoid... but it wont stop me posting what I believe or feel.. ;-)

Thats certyainly a big facto - but could slaso be said for all prem years really number of times i found away fans in the home section sat near by on 'corporate STs...

NOt sure, I think it was a simple case of football/Saints fatigue.. a dreadful season, a decline in interests and culmunating in relegation and admin - The 'Perfect Storm' of a season. Couple this with the uncertain future and most fans already having donated what they could and it was probably bound to be a bit of a lame turnout - And to some extent having the same old guard rallying the troops was bound to put soe off as well... those that wanted a clean break from all those that had been part of the last 4 years..
-
Thing a kinda freak version of OWTS by the Prodigy would be good either get them going or have the oposition go What the f...?'
-
Thats a fair point, and I dont think many will have a problem about arguing about teh manager etc and plaer decsions again as these are 'footballing' and less political - and we all have our opinions on that - JP/Wotte/Pearson became an issue because it was considered or became political simply because of the who by and why the appointments were made. It will be interesting to see what sort of figure emerges to take control of first team affairs or if Wotte is kept on who knows but if so, are those who 'boycotted' because of Lowe prepared to return if Wotte remained despite new owners?

Leyton Orient call us cheats and want us in Div 2

Where are the solutions though Duncan? The top clubs would prefer to go even further and have independent TV Rights sales thus making themselvs richer at everyone elses expense - they could argue its what happens in Spain etc.. And I guess therefore any rules/regulations enforced to level playing fields would need to be the same across all UEFA members if not FIFA and there is little chance of that happening. The biggest issues with things like salary capping as a percentage of revenue is that all clubs with a rich owner who donates cash to underwrite debts is ho9w do you distinguish this from other revenues sources etc? I wish there was an answer but the moment sky entered the arean, football was no longer about fans who go to games locally, but all about teh armchairfan and catering fo their needs... Yet you still get whinging ferguson complaining about 12 O'clock saturady kickoffs - yet never declining the extra tV revenue - the hypocracy is lost in the media afraid of him boycotting them as well... to much power, control and self interest from those clubs taht have it all... -
Do you think he needs glasses then?

Stanley - what you dont seem to acknowledge is that whatever the wealth of a new owner - we have absolutely feck all idea how much of said wealth said new owner has in liquid assets that he is willing to '**** up the wall' on a football club - that is what is still unknown as is his strategy for success/suvival/consolidation in League 1. After being so critical of previous regimes who have 'failed' to sponsor success by investing - what happens if said new owner is not prepared to bankroll the club and wants it to 'live within ones means'? All those that said they ahd not issue with Lowe's back ground and plummyness but judged on his failures including his lack of ambition by not investing cash in players, how long will teh new man have becfore he fails to live up to your expectations as well?...

The slightly better than League div 2 The 'formally known as Division 3 ?
-
Its should also give them time to look in detail at player contracts and thus workout what the options they have short and medium term to reduce the cost base to one that is sustainable given thier likely budget - Its also why they will be speaking with Wotte about players to keep/get rid versus the difficulty of shipping some out and keeping others - They wont be talking to Wotte about his role as they are not yet his employers nut sus him out on a few things etc. There is still a long way to go but positive - the key will be when they report back to the investor and say .... 'we are going to need 3 mil a yera from you to break even due to teh following contracts etc...' and what response he gives to that... Did not see the Echo quote...but it is an 'echo' quote...

Stekll which is bewed here under license is full of chemicals and tastes like its been through half the population of pompey before its recycled into your glass - If you are a 'lager' man - get back to the roots - Czech or German Pilsner brewed to the 'Reinheitsgeburt' (prurity law) which only allows the trad 4 ingredients and NO additivies - better taste, less hangover They wont put on a 5% lager anyway - so Becks Vier would be reasonable choice - but then again it all taste like warm **** when served in those plastic tumblers... ;-(

Agreed! ;-) - Especially at the the old Munich Olympic stadium when 3-1 up (5-1 fullt time) in a WC Qualifier!
-
Would be nice to have a stand named after him really, the current naming is a bit....
-
Nope many folk stayed away - that was obvious from teh agte - what was oft debated was how many or how few of thse were genuinely staywing away becaus eof Lowe versus just because we were crap - vast majority because we were crap IMHO as witnessed by a sell out when Man U played...
-
Would prefer Matty as a board member giving teh benefit of his footballing advice rather than a specific DoF - why? Well I like the continental system of DoF + Coach, but as countless fans have piointed out on here 'It does not work with a Britsh manager' who wants to be the boss etc.... So Mattycomming in as a DoF is going tomean we wont be as attractive to certain managers.

The biggest problem in the last 3 years was simply Lowe, Wilde and CRouch all pulling in different directions rather than looking at the situation pragmatically and doing what was best for the club both short and long term - you had Lowe who has always placed too much emphasis on teh long term and was often blind to the short term effect until it was too late - and the likes of Wilde and then Crouch who were very much short term thinkers - the right approach lies somewher in teh middle so its a shame they could not work together! All culpable to some extent in our fall from grace and subsequent admininstration - none of them did ths out of malice or spite yet Stanley and a few others respond with just that. I could make some excuse about how emotive football is so in some respect its justifiable - but frankly its just childish. ... and nothing is signed yet and we dont knwo who/what will appear in the boardroom. MLT and TL? GReat effort and great work todate in securing a buyer, but where is the experience? Sorry, but we need calm and cool experienced heads who know how to run a tight ship, and it worries me a little that we might get a lot a well meaning yet inexperienced board

Like I said just paranoid... ;-)
-
Uhm..after all we have been through, maybe I'm just a touch paranoid, but is it possibe the reason he has not come forward is because some fans may not like it when they hear the names?...

Leyton Orient call us cheats and want us in Div 2
Frank's cousin replied to NickG's topic in The Saints
Indeed, effectively if you cheat and win ... you get away with it as you are awarded with cash to pay off those that let you cheat.. like nearly every club in the prem... but if you cheat and lose yu shuld get screwed again -- Is BH really that fecking ignorant or is he just starting the mind games early ;-)? ****...
