Lol at Leicester - they are so sh*te. Exciting isn't it?!
-
Comeuppance finally. Yaaaahoooo!!!
-
Yeah it was Lallana (number 20 on shirt). Cork celebrates afterwards (number 8 on shirt)

I remember last February / March time and Saints went through a few pretty disappointing results, 4-4 at Peterborough, 0-0 at Hartlepool, the loss at Walsall. I really thought we had thrown away our automatic promotion chance as Huddersfield seemed so consistent and had the points on the board. But Adkins and the team proved me wrong so I’m going to continue to believe we can do this.

You don't half spout some absolute rubbish. Have you seen him play? Shortlisted as player of the season, but what do football experts know eh? Best just ask Alpine Saint seeing as he watches so much live football.
-
Although, don't think were were lucky against Blackpool - they scored a freak goal against us, against run of play if you remember.
-
In terms of playing football Reading were sh*te - they are not a good footballing side. Would you want to watch that each week? Tactically however they were spot on. They play to their strengths and their gameplan is extremely effective.

Lot of truth on this article. Our defenders and midfielder win an awful lot of headers, some under pressure, some with no pressure whatsoever, but they hardly ever try to direct their headers to other Saints players. They just seem to head the ball away not really caring who picks it up. It is a big weakness in our defensive play which could easily be rectified. http://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/southampton/fb_news.php?storyid=16638

If you watch the replays - have a look at Varney's face as he does in for the tackle. He knew exactly what de was doing. The best Morgan would of got out of the tackle was a throw in and Varney could easily have jumped over Morgan. But if you look at the replays he deliberately went over Morgans leg with his studs.

So annoying that it was Norris who equalised. The player that the Skates blew Ipswich's wage offer out of the water to get hold of.
-
Saints always play like that - it pulls the opposition players out of their half to create some space. When you are playing a team that is 3-0 up, they tend to sit back (same thing happens when teams visit St Mary's - they are usually happy to come away with a clean sheet), so Saints play it around the back 5, which entices their forwards towards our goal. The passing also (not this time though!) helps us gain momentum.

They sound like a great responsible & ethical company: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ineos "The company has been accused by some sources of buying assets then cutting costs through the introduction of new working practices, lower wages, and terminating pension schemes."

Thanks - don't remember him at all!

Good old Hirst - what a player he was. Forgive my ignorance but who on earth were Warner and Saberski? Also not entirely sure who Richardson was?

Several Millwall fans seem fairly confident... are they good at home? http://www.millwall.vitalfootball.co.uk/forum/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=94292&start=1

Their defence is getting better - three clean sheets in their last 4 games.
-
Yes! We battered them but they got a draw and ended up winning the championship that season (16 points above second place and only losing twice). Fair match report still available on the Reading site: http://www.readingfc.co.uk/page/MatchReport/0,,10306~29994,00.html Goes to show Championship winning teams do play badly every so often.

I wonder if Richardson's latest injury lies behind the recent decision to extend Butterfield's contract?
-
West Ham & Palace kick off in 20 mins. Palace have a few injuries...think they are in for a hiding - I'm going for 3-1 to Ten-Man West Ham.
-
On the law of averages we are due a win there!
-
I really liked Fernandes - I recall I think it was in Strachan's 2nd season when Fernandes had a real purple patch of form - he was excellent. Then he got linked with a big money move to Liverpool (under Gerard Houllier) and his form rapidly dipped and so did Saints'.
-
2nd. Saints: always the bridesmaid.
-
If they had spent the last seven years in the championship and league one their support would not look good.

Great result and great performance from the lads. Martin has done e good job in the last few games but it made such a difference with Jos and Jose at centre-back. Both were quality. Lallana was back to his best and Guly had his best game for a while in my opinion - I'm fairly certain Guly has been playing with an injury or he has just been knackered as he has been out of sorts recently. Sharp and Lee both look a right handful. All in all very pleased.
