We finish 5 points clear, after losing at Wrexham, with much better goal difference. It won't happen like this but shows we are right in it, but few bad results for either would turn it
  2. Relax.... Wrexham vs Watford (A): Draw (1-1) — Vicarage Road is a tough place to go. vs Sheffield Utd (A): Loss (2-1) — The Blades are pushing for autos. vs West Brom (A): Win (0-1) — Wrexham often find a way in gritty away games. vs Southampton (H): Draw (2-2) — A classic high-stakes battle. vs Birmingham (A): Loss (2-0) — Fatigue starts to show. vs Stoke City (H): Win (2-1) — The Cae Ras crowd carries them. vs Oxford Utd (A): Win (0-2) — Crucial points against lower-half opposition. vs Coventry City (A): Loss (3-1) — Toughest game left on the calendar. Southampton vs Coventry (A): Loss (2-1) — The leaders are just too strong right now. vs Norwich (H): Win (3-1) — Clinical at St Mary's. vs Oxford Utd (H): Win (4-0) — Goal difference booster. vs Ipswich Town (H): Draw (1-1) — A tactical stalemate. vs Wrexham (A): Draw (2-2) — Honors even in North Wales. vs Derby County (H): Win (2-0) — Professional performance. vs Swansea City (A): Win (1-2) — Saints' possession game frustrates the Swans. vs Bristol City (H): Win (2-1) — Late winner secures the points. vs Blackburn (H): Win (3-0) — Dominant home display. vs Preston (A): Draw (1- 1) — Last day nerves We finish two points clear with much better goal difference. Don't stress after a defeat tomorrow it will be on target
  3. Tonight? Wrexham win and still in our hands. Tricky but achievable
  4. 3 points behind Wrexham but with better goal difference and still to play them. The very definition of a chase within achievable reach.
  5. Back in our hands. Win every game and we are up (as FA Cup winners). Long way to go, and clearly won't win every game but it's nice thought that in theory we are not dependent on other results
  6. Who was the last underdog to win a quarter final and stop a team winning the quadruple? And we were really shit then!
  7. An Ai stat analysis (which won't be accurate but is a straw for me to clutch) includes league table, home away from and fixture predictions. Currently 35% chance of top 6. After Hull v Wrexham game, if Hull win up to 45%, draw remains 35%, but Wrexham win we go down to 20%. This is their prediction for the rest of the season with us missing out by 2 points Wrexham 75 points vs Hull City (H): Loss (1-2) vs Swansea City (H): Win vs Watford (A): Draw vs Sheffield Utd (A): Loss vs West Brom (A): Win vs Southampton (H): Draw (1-1) vs Birmingham City (A): Win vs Stoke City (H): Win vs Oxford Utd (A): Win vs Coventry City (A): Loss vs Middlesbrough (H): Draw Our 73 points vs West Brom (A): Win vs Coventry City (A): Loss vs Norwich City (H): Win vs Oxford Utd (H): Win vs Ipswich Town (H): Draw vs Wrexham (A): Draw (1-1) vs Derby County (H): Win vs Swansea City (A): Draw vs Bristol City (H): Win vs Blackburn Rovers (H): Win vs Preston (A): Loss
  8. TBF confidence comes into it and it was low for everyone, perhaps he never had a chance. I understand your view, but personally was very disappointed. I remember Shilton and how he added to our points with his individual brilliance and maybe expected an England international keeper to do the same. I would rate, just quick gut feeling, Shilton, Niemi, Forster (in his peak for us but not always), Flowers as keepers who really made a difference - more than he did. Did he do any better than Boruc, Jones and Beasant did for us? Probably not
  9. Guessing you were moaning about the appointment at the start and finding it hard to back track. He has turned a terrible low morale start of season into us performing better than any old school manager is currently managing. It would have been more of a gamble not to appoint him after his start
  10. I have only just noticed how young Fellows is, and so how many of out team/ squad are below the age players peak (27 ISH??) Peretz 25 jelert 22 Quashie 21 Wood 23 THB 24 Wellington 25 Charles 22 Jander 22 Fellows 22 Robinson 18 Matsuki 22 Edozie 23 Archer 24 Azaz 25 Maybe well placed for next season's promotion push
  11. When you consider immediately before this run we were 3 defeats in a row, 5 without a win - could anyone realistically have expected any appointment to do better? Personally no. You can only judge with what he has done so far, which is a decent sample now, and it has been an excellent appointment without a doubt.
  12. Is he? Or is it marketing for his anti-islam agenda and a chance to grift , with his normal scrounging?
  13. Players today are much much fitter. And therefore playing against players much fitter and faster. If opponents have fit, fast players, and also rotate their squad and we don't we will be at a fitness disadvantage. It's not saying no players can play three games a week, it's is that they won't be performing at their max and more likely to have injuries. There are loads less injuries than years ago. Edit 1970s average 8km run mostly low intensity 2000s 10km 2020s 13km mainly sprints
  14. Ramsdale isn't a great keeper who can be relied upon. He had two good seasons but was nothing special for the last few years. We have had better, he didn't have an impact last season so doubt he would have been massive this. Better than we had but wouldn't have gained loads more points
  15. Only Coventry and Middlesbrough have more points since he was appointed. Considering mess he inherited pretty good
  16. Probably none including us Probably most have it as a significant consideration Probably fans of most clubs feel, wrongly it is the case - nature of us fans
  17. Not bad, good run initially , had a dip in the middle but 7 from last 9 points. I think I saw that since he took over top 6 performing side - which considering form before he came in is decent turnaround. Needs bit more to catch up for Still's start though.
  18. I think you are over estimating how much the club care what we think of transfer windows
  19. 100% pen in PREM with var, contact as he turned, knee to knee is foul, But he went down easily and prefer no VAR.
  20. When Charles is fit, for me it is 1 Charles 2 Bragg 3 Jander 4 Downes Happy never to see him play for us again. Shouldn't have signed him.
  21. Although I accept it's a position we should prove on, our form improved since he came in, and he was MOM last game, clearly not about to be dropped. Bragg has looked very good whenever played (Charlton particularly) Jelert makes sense. Scienza in. Armstrong works hard and Archer scored last game so not total shock, although I would be much more confident with Armstrong. Matsuki is interesting one...look forward to seeing him but possible more of a risk
  22. Our manager typically likes to change most / all of the front three with about 30 mins left. There will also be injuries. We may not need to replace Armstrong but do you really feel confident that there isn't a massive downgrade when Aziz, Armstrong and Scienza go off? How long do you think it will be until Archer next scores? I know we may have Stewart coming back, and we are not going to spend big, but do you really think there aren't players out there, for example prem league young talent wanting a loan experience who couldn't easily improve our bench over Archer? Or offer an alternative?
  23. I was disappointed in him, expected a lot more
  24. Huge downgrade on what we have seen so far. A player with 11 goals for a good side in 2022 season and a total of 3 goals over last two seasons won't scare sides when he comes on
  25. Just taken a few bits out as yours was a long post to quote... 1) fair enough, your feeling. However the evidence is that he is managing to get us to be more successful than any other team in the division, despite coming into low morale and poor form. I would say the objective view is that he is managing at a level you would expect a team to get promoted and if we do miss out it is more likely to be due to the bad start than his management. 2) He has 18 points from 7 games FFS! Genuinely , if you had told me Pep was coming in, I wouldn't have expected that! (Not saying he is Pep before someone jumps on that!). All these experienced managers (?) who are great at setting up defences have dropped more points. We lost one game, away to a decent side, we didn't play as well as other games but it was far from the low levels of earlier in the season, we were away and had more shots, more shots on target, possession etc - I'm not saying we should have won, or defended well, but it hardly deserves a great inquest into poor management. 3) bottom line is - he doesn't. It's working. I am sure he wants to improve it. But he has said he wants to start fast, win games then rest players and kill the game. Maybe these substitutions and resting our best players is why we over run teams in the next game?? 4) I think this comment is patronising. The young lad needs a grown up. Again, happy for him to keep learning and improving but he is beating older more experienced managers every week! And... Since he came in Saints 18 pts +12GD Coventry 16 PTS + 5 gd Middlesbrough 14 PTS +4 gd Ipswich 12 PTS +7 gd Skates 4 PTS -4 gd!
