Amazing how it's changed from him being a risky appointment, to him being the safe one. Would anyone honestly be more confident going into the next batch of games with any other manager we have been linked with? Appointing anyone else (even if there are a better longer term option) risks breaking the momentum and confidence he has built up. Also risks being less popular with fans and players.

Are you serious that he has to get to 13 games unbeaten to get the job??!! If he gets close to that and is still being asked to stay as an interim, then I think he should tell us where to go and find a club that appreciates him! Are you confident any new manager would have taken us on, after 5 games without a win, three straight defeats, and turned that into a 13 game unbeaten run starting with three wins???? For example, that is better than Carrick has ever achieved, let alone after taking on this mess! Unless there is someone key in the background, two more performances like Saturday would convince me he is worth a go.

If he wins next two then surely it's a no-brainer to give him the job? 5 wins is a better run than we managed in our promotion season, even when building on good highly confident runs. Even more impressive these 3 wins (so far, fingers crossed) are on the back of 5 without a win. Even if he loses both he has a good chance, particularly with the unexciting names linked. (I reserve the right to be grumpy and want him replaced if we now have two bad defeats ) Even before the game the criticism and name calling on the match thread was ridiculous. Moaning about the keeper choice (which he has explained was conscious tactic to beat their press) and Bragg who was excellent.

There isn't any other manager in the championship who has won 4 consecutive league games so this would be impressive and certainly a stand out start

Are many / any saying he is a great or obvious choice (there may well be posts saying that)? I am just not overly excited by any of the options who are linked and achievable. I don't have much to judge him on apart from 1) a lack of experience 2) an ok start with a bit more fight / confidence. He maybe shit. He may turn out to be good, who knows. Carrick / GON clearly have better CVs, but I don't see them being amazing, but who knows. There are managers who do well with little experience, or ones who do badly. Poch was criticised by many, WGS was sacked by Coventry in the league below us. Sports Republic haven't earnt our confidence but I don't see taking our time with him as the worst thing to do. I hope we end up with someone with experience and can unite / excite us. But has do you see any name linked so far, that you feel is realistic, that would unite and excite us?

Probably exactly the same number if we appoint Carrick, O'Neil, cocorban and finish mid table.

I feel there is a lot of luck in manager appointments - you score / win and players start to think your methods work, confidence increases performances increase. I don't know whether we should keep the caretaker manager in place, as I don't know much about him but are not totally against him as 1) don't know enough about him 2) he has the initial wins for a confidence boost 3) I am not seeing any name on here that is both realistic and popular 4) none of the names jump out as exciting or guaranteed promotion 5) as well as lots of failures there are loads of success stories about managers in their first mgt post 5) bit of a light hearted comment, but with a degree of truth - I wouldn't want any manager who is willing to come here. So I am happy to keep an open mind

Nothing against Nolan passing on something they have heard but there are two things I do not believe in this; 1) they want a manager, have identified them, and will appoint them but are waiting for however long it takes us to lose a game before doing so. And 2)...even harder to believe, that whoever thinks this would have vocalised it to anyone else, without realising how silly it sounds, so that it could be spread to Nolan

Although that is partly true it does not negate that it can be influenced by the likelihood of who the manager will be. There have been several occasions, from memory, when there have been concerns about inside information impacting on markets (was it Harry R or is that just me stereotyping?). Also, market will also be influenced by genuine possibilities.

I don't have a strong view on needing championship experience, more someone who has shown he can manage players of this level , in a club with our level of profile (which seemed a shock for Jones) I maybe more open minded than some to managers I know less about (like Still) as I live in hope that they are going to be like Pochitino, whereas someone like Carrick may turn out to be a safe bet, but I don't really have that excitement (blind pathetic hope) that maybe they will be great. So many managers perform so differently at new clubs it is hard. Was any happy when we recruited a manager just sacked from the division below us? (WGS)

So Still was a bad manager because despite several decent performances he didn't win games and that's what matters. And Eckert is bad cos despite two wins the performances were not good. Ok got it 😉

Interesting polls today showing most people would tactically vote to prevent Farage getting near No10. LibDems / Greens would vote labour, labour would vote Tory. I worry about the grifter getting in as he will say anything to be popular, particularly aiming at those who don't understand detail, however I am fairly confident he will never win.

When Fernandes, JWP and KWP manage to relegate west ham ,he maybe a decent championship player for them

West Ham's relegated Saints all stars not looking good. KWP and JWP both dropped, Fernandes playing poorly and fans questioning the money they spent on him. Could be bottom soon. Fernandes said he found the season draining - I wonder how he will cope emotionally if they fall adrift?

Newcastle have a decent keeper who is not getting any game time and has international ambitions - might be worth a look

No way is it miles onside. Hard to see from that camera angle, and as they didn't debate it I accept it was probably on, but he was clearly in front of defenders, and from TV angle it looks like pass is marginally forward which would suggest in front of ball as well so off side. Unless you have seen a different angle that shows miles on????

I checked a while ago during the days before Still was appointed - far by most successful managers in this league haven't managed here before.

8/10 We have improved team and squad with financially killing the club. Compared to last championship season, looking at players who played half of the time at least and won play offs.. We still have Ryan Fraser, Flynn downes, Ryan Manning, Armstrong and Bazunu. Lost KWP -But will multiple signings, strength physicality, character of Mads, Jelert, now have wellington - clearly better at FB. CB Are Quarshie , wood and edwards and THB a downgrade from Jan B?. Not convinced we won't be stronger. Attacking - I will be very surprised if Armstrong, Robinson,scienca, Azuz and fellows, Downs, Archer, Stewart aren't better than Che (who was hated when here) Armstrong x 2, Mara and Edozie, We are better and I had low expectations. A lot more athletic. A new culture. Therefore 8/10

Disappointed about Fernandes but can totally see the logic, particularly if he is pressing for a move. A midfield of Charles, Azuz and Downes should be good enough for promotion- and is balanced. Re last post at poss combinations - Edwards has played CDM at last two clubs. To me so much depends on Fernandes - if he stays he is a solid AM rather than a flair one, but starts every game - maybe Matsuki is enough as back up. But you need more flair on wings.

Better attacking midfielders than Fernandes who is likely to go for £40m and be replaced by a £15m downgrade? That's what worries me, we are saying our weakness is where we are also saying we have our best player??!
