Matt Oakley would be the signing of the summer for me. Definately still got it, and proved last year that he's one of the best players in this league easily.

To be fair, Sky Sports also reported that Davis was still off to West Ham, and half an hour later had signed a new contract with us. That quote's a little old, maybe with the prospect of playing for a team with a bit of money he'll be more keen to play with a bunch of guys who arent likely to be shipped off on loan or sold if any bid comes in. Lallana's easily the most technically gifted player in the squad now, and yes parts of his game arent amazing, but there is a lot of potential which in my opinion will be evident next year if staying with Saints.

Thanks adriansfc, I wont stoop down to a level calling people who think it's not very good drawing with a team 6-10 odd divisions below them 'retards'. To be fair, as a group of professional footballers, who many have trained every day for years, you'd expect them to be able to beat a team like Totton without really having to try. I havent said 'sack the manager' or anything like that I just think it's strange that some people think it's fine and we shouldnt think it was a poor result. I know the players dont want to get injured in pre season and it's more about fitness, but the Totton players arent out there to kill us, and what's the point in playing if we're not going to at least try to win? The difference in quality should be obvious, but from what i've heard it wasnt at all! At least it sounds like Gobern put in the effort and might actually be able to create some stuff.

Fair play, exactly what we need to be doing, taking a look at a few cheap players from abroad (likely requiring much lower salaries) and make them earn a contract (if they're good enough). Unless we get Stern for next year, and assuming Rasiak and Saga go, we're very short up front as McClaggon's out for a while, White is injured and largely unproved, and Patterson i'm not so sure... BWP and Euell i'm assuming are off.

What?! He was actually our best player against Plymouth at St Marys. What about the 50% of matches which he wasnt used in?! I think if he'd have played up front all season he would've got 10-15 goals, I rate him more than McGoaldrought anyway.

Disappointing that another promising player has departed in the last few years. Problem was that he shouldn't have had to play every game this year. Plus, probably should have learnt how to take a penalty or get a clean strike on a ball seeing as he's a striker. No doubt he's got the skills, but havent Forest already got 2 or 3 better strikers?! Cant see him playing every minute next season, but no doubt will bag a couple of goals (probably against Saints in the cup or something).

Benfica, was on loan to Monaco last season. Is miles above Saints, although could possibly buy us.

They've already said he's far too expensive for us now. What's the point of the new owners (if any) paying over the odds again when that's what got us in this state in the first place? Probably just showing that's he's playing internationally for a half ok team to get a bit of interest in him from other clubs.

I seem to remember quite a few matches early-mid season where the team were putting together about 30 passes, but just were too scared to get near the goal and usually just ended up with Mcgoldrick just ballooning it over. He's good sometimes, and certainly has the skills, but can be play a bit arrogant, plus for a striker is really pretty bad at penalties! Ideally would like to keep him, but he's clearly been looking for a move North and think this has affected his game at times.

When's the last time we unearthed a good player on the cheap from abroad? Cant remember any particularly standing out the last few years although Size was pretty good and Saga was good for a while (although he was fairly well known before anyway). Have Saints even had a scouting network for the past 5 years or so? Fair play to him trying to find us some good cheap players, hopefully Liptak is a bit better than we all thought.

I think if we actually bothered playing BWP most matches he could and would've been a very useful player for us this season. If we can get them to sign a realistic contract, both would be useful players next season, especially Bradley if he can get his act together.
