I don't buy into this 'running out of steam once spring has come' stuff. I am a middle distance runner and can compete almost every weekend. I recovery and train all week whilst also holding down a full time job. Our players are elite athletes with the very best in sports science not to mention the dieticians and sports massage. Of course they can keep this up. The only thing that can affect them now is injuries. They will not get any fitter now and it's all about maintaining the level they are at.

Quite obviously this is a game where Hughes should go back to them hitting the channels and Crouch with precision long passes. This is the one of the best ways of defeating the press. The other way is to suck the press in and then play "cute" round-the-corner type balls but arguably only Chelsea and Arsenal posses such midfield players capable of this. I am expecting a very tough game and a decent tactical battle. Hughes surely won't make the same mistakes Jol did in thinking he has the players to beat the press in midfield?? I know Stoke are trying to change their style of play and they should be applauded for this but this game calls for a more direct approach from them. oddly enough I actually think we may mix it up a fair bit more to counter this. We may find that we sit a little deeper than usual and hit the diagonal to Lambert more than usual too.

Sad as this is going to sound... I was in the kitchen the other night doing the dishes (as all modern men do) and for about 15 minutes I was singing "Pochettino's red n' white army" over and over and over on my own.. like we used to do at the Dell for whomever was the manager of the day.. Those chants seemed to go on for entire halves of matches and were brilliant... All parts of the ground joined in and when others dropped off another section of the crowd picked up the baton and carried it on... My girlfriend (now wife) came to one of the games at the Dell and was so impressed by this wall of noise.. "are this lot ever going to stop?" she asked... as I made my hands and throat sore from constant clapping and singing... Lets have some more of this please and stop with the anti Pompey crap. I was in a group walking up to the Riverside on that rainy night when we could of clinched promotion from the Championship and the group were belting out anti-Pompey songs and this 'Boro fan came up and asked me "why the f**k we were bothering to sing about them?". I thought about it for a minute and agreed. He was absolutely spot on. I chose not to sing about them now. POCHETTINO'S RED N WHITE ARMY POCHETTINO'S RED N WHITE ARMY POCHETTINO'S RED N WHITE ARMY POCHETTINO'S RED N WHITE ARMY POCHETTINO'S RED N WHITE ARMY POCHETTINO'S RED N WHITE ARMY POCHETTINO'S RED N WHITE ARMY POCHETTINO'S RED N WHITE ARMY POCHETTINO'S RED N WHITE ARMY POCHETTINO'S RED N WHITE ARMY (Had to use antique white so you could see it a bit )

Yeah apart from that odd comment about us not playing our youth all the time he seems very clued up (as you would expect him to be). They will try and go wide with Kasami on the left (as Jol alluded to in that interview). Clyne will have a busy day and as mentioned previously Wanyama and Schneiderlin will have to crush Berbatov into the ground and keep him quiet. I see this as a tight game with them trying to counter us and us huffing and puffing up front with no space to play. Pace will be key to both teams. An early goal for us would set things up nicely. I'm going with a very close 2-0 with the score flattering us by way of a late goal to wrap up the points. However, I would not be at all surprised with a score draw either.

I thought Schneiderlins goal to make it 1-2 up at Wigan last year was pretty epic. We had sucked that ball into the net all that second half. Shame we couldn't hold on on that occasion. Our soft under belly came back to bite us. Funny that some people thought the atmos at that particular game was gash. I remember the debate on here.

Yeah he has the right amount of nastiness and guile too -
Yep palace at sea now.. Could be a hiding this now.

Decent from Berbatov there... Classy header. Let's hope they use up their goal allowance tonight.
-
They do however have their shooting boots on tonight. Currently 1-2 with two absolute belters.. Straight out of the top drawer. Extra weetabix for Boruc this week.

I agree to an extent if we could only breed Davis and Ramirez we'd have a player to fill that void. Saying that I still think Osvaldo should of done better with his chances on Saturday. He's not going to get too many opportunities against the top 6 teams. He looked a little forlorn on Saturday having watched the full match again. -
They don't look so good on crosses.

I have to agree a little but I thought the supporting line behind Osvaldo gave him the ball in some great positions on Saturday. His touch let him down once or twice and I just think he is still adjusting to the time (you don't get) on the ball. Hopefully he gets this sorted and starts firing them in from all angles. -

Not sure about the Munich part but they are bang on about what the missing piece of the jigsaw is. I sooooooooooo hope its Osvaldo. Tuned in especially too see if Ed Chamberlain could get us some coverage and the boy came through... excellent coverage and analysis from a passionate player in Carragher and an intelligent player in Neville. Excellent stuff from SKY it has to be said. -
Was that in injury time and a screamer from 30 yards??? I think I was halfway out of the doors at the back of the Milton when that one flew in... the stewards tried to keep us moving in the exit direction but I got back onto the terrace and celebrated like a loon!

Left back?? The plot thickens... -
They usually have Boondoggle or Old Thumper on tap in there too.

Saw Sebadoh tonight on the first date of their European tour in Manchester. Only 100 or so people in attendance. As unrehearsed (there words) and apologetic gigs go it was bloody brilliant. They somehow still manage to get it together at just the right moments to play that immense indie rock!! 10/10 Catch them on tour over next week or two if you can
