No, assets are Balance Sheet, not P&L. Think of Balance Sheet as the bits that affect the value of the company at a snapshot in time, and the P&L as the yearly ins and outs of money for the company. Insurance covers for unknown conditions - that's the point of it - it's for unforeseen issues.

By saying previously undetected it does the opposite because it says it is not a pre-existing condition so is insurable. Pre-existing conditions are either not insurable or demand larger premiums. Also assets have nothing to FFP/PSR.
