--------------------------------Lumley KWP-------ABK/Edwards-------Stephens-------Taylor---------Manning -------------------Aribo---------------Fernandes Arma---------------------Paul-----------Archer Use Sulemana and Samo Amo if poss. No Ramdsale, Macca, THB, Bednarek, Lesley, Downes, Dibling, Lallana, Stewart, Smallbone.

Reminiscent of Crouch and Camara
-
Makes reasonable sense. Fraser can actually cross the ball for TP.
-
Unless it's like a three with walker Peters, Stephens and THB, then Dibling and fraser wing backs.
-
I'd take Latte Lath, and give BBD on loan as part of the deal.
-
Apparently we had agreed a fee for him which was £20m and he chose a higher salary at Ipswich. £20m for a bang average championship striker seemed worse business than £10m for someone who got goals in SHU team last season. But it isnt panning out that way at the moment unfortunately for us!! To be fair to BBD, he has been asked to hug the left touch line for most of his minutes.
-
Yep maybe - Jo Tessem summed it up well by saying you cant pass and break down teams into submission in this league easily. We do have the players to be more direct and quick - got a massive (inflated) squad really. We could set up just like Ipswich or Bournemouth do. I dont buy that we only have players who can play the RM way for one moment.
-
its really easy to point to VAR, but I think in this case you have to cut RM some slack. He lost Downes (Arguably most important player) last minute, yes its rubbish to gift a goal early, but then we score a perfectly good goal to get to 1-1, and from there you would probably have backed us to get our third straight win. Then they're given a bit VAR let-off, and score a worldy to get a 2 goal cushion at home, by which time the game sort of felt gone really. It is totally all "ifs buts and maybes", but we are not far off, its small margins, and I know other teams can say the same, and we rode our luck vs Everton, etc. A freak equaliser by Ipswich - 2 points lost vs a relegation rival. Screwed by VAR again vs Leicester - 2 points lost vs a relegation rival. Turn these three games around and we are sitting out of the bottom three. It feels bad, and the table doesnt lie, but we are not a million miles off. I do wish we hadnt wasted the money on BBD, and the loan space on Cornet though.

Taylor. But we like to be clever and play a 58 year old winger there when we need to shut up shop.
-
Joel Piroe is utter, complete garbage. Although a toss up between him and Stewart as Russ' striker not sure who the worst investment would have been. Stewart at least looks a player when fit. Piroe looks like a poor Rugby Union player.
-
anyone know what sort of injury it looks like?
-
Felt somewhat ironic reading this: Live Text Postat 25 minutes 25' Delay in match because of an injury Ross Stewart (Southampton).
-
Dont think its really fair to criticise Dragan. He has spent as much as he can do within PSR and retained a huge squad. The problem is crap recruitment of managers and players.
-
433 Ramsdale KWP (toss up with Suga) THB Janny B Taylor Lallana (Les off bench) Downes Fernandes Dibling (Arma off bench) Tall Paul / Drogba / BBD / Pelle / SRL Archer (Fraser off bench)
-
Les certainly didn't have the best night. At fault for 2 goals I think. However, he has been pretty strong in other matches. Against Everton in the cup for example. But maybe age and experience and playing a different formation with different players every 5mins might mean he might not get there every week just yet.
-
I was hopeful we had seen enough that things might click, as he had not really been 2md best except Brentford. The recruitment has been great I think, except for the striker department. We bought BBD and Archer when we needed a strong physical 9. (Tall Paul or Che style). I believe there is enough quality everywhere else if we get it working. The first half last night though was the nail in the coffin. Ridiculous experimental team selection. What did Cornet do to deserve a start. Why move Dibling out of his successful position and partnership. It's like he doesn't know what our best team is or trust an 11 to gel. He doesn't know what our best team is. He is a great man manager and has improved Aribo tonnes for example. But if we are all honest we made hard work of last season with a very strong squad albeit it was a freak year. We could have so easily missed out after having it in our hands eventually at one point. What worries me though is who we might bring in. We won't do a Hughes style appointment because we try to be clever. Eustace is a Championship manager, like him, but we need to invest in someone proven. Rohl likewise. Appointments for last year but not now. Where do other clubs get managers like Iriola, the Brighton guy who come to the prem and hit the ground running? When we try that we get Pellegrino! I can't stand Moyes but he could be the solid option with prem experience we need to pick up some points. Rob Edwards? Potter might not be out of reach and don't think he'd get the United job. Can't see any proven prem names beyond those three...or Ralph. Edwards was the man Ipswich wanted when mckenna was off to Brighton.
-
Optimistic about this one! Can see us getting off the mark. Do feel they are very average and havent started great this season.
-
Cornet for Dibling surely likely soon
-
Think this would be my choice too. Obviously need a plan B for when Lallana runs out of steam. Be interesting to see how Ipswich set up. Delap looks more of a handful these days - strong, direct, quick. Hopefully its attack vs defence and we create some chances and take them!
-
In an office and family full of Ipswich fans, a painful day today. They are cock a hoop about how they are going to stay up, how good Delap is, how Phillips runs the midfield, went toe-to-toe with City and Liverpool, etc. Scraping a home draw against Fulham seems to have driven a lot of optimism and I think we need some points on the board ASAP to drive a similar feeling! The table at the moment is far from a disaster but negativity can creep in quick! I think we will be fine this season if we play our best team, bed in the new signings, and try to be more pragmatic. The lack of a focal point up front worries me. Not sure if BBD or Archer can play that role but think we need someone there. Tall Paul obviously discounted now. I think its also time to drop the loyalty to certain players. I think Smallbone is a tidy, honest and hardworking pro, but for me he doesnt turn enough, and plays too many "brick wall" passes pinging it exactly back to where it came from, inviting pressure. I also dont think we need three CBs, and Harwood-Bellis/Bednarek seems a trusted combination to stick to - RM needs to pick his favourite of those three and be prepared to drop one of them to play a four at the back I think. Playing KWP on the left may also be an issue.....Sugawara has started well and its a shame not to play him, but would Charlie Taylor and KWP be more natural? It would be interesting to see if we can get into a rhythm with 4-3-3 Taylor, KWP, Bednarek, THB, Downes, Fernandes, Aribo, then BBD, Archer, Armstrong, playing Archer central. Equally if we want to stick with 3 at the back, could we get two attacking fullbacks and the double pivot with Downes and Big Les. Not easy! But I do feel Smallbone is too limited for the prem especially in our own half with opposition press. Aribo not a million miles behind.
-
Well. Not sure we could have done a lot more in thah window. Spot on. Tall Paul and ABK still here too for now...interesting!
-
Not sure they have any "next year money" under PSR unless they manage to offload someone for proper money. They're taking huge gambles in this window IMHO.
-
Spot on. And a petulant self centered lad too. Col United boy.
-
Hmmm Ipswich have basically a free hit on PSR this window. And they've gambled by maxing out. Let's see what resale value they get on Delap 20m, greaves 20m, hurchinson 20m, their keeper 11m. That value can become eroded rapidly and has zero PL proven ability. Leif Davis when it becomes apparent he can't defend, how much is he worth when the 80m in sales needs to be achieved to balance PSR? As far as I can see it's a massive gamble on Greaves or Hutchinson going for 50m in 18months time. And I haven't seen Burnley, SUFC or Luton players commanding those fees regularly. So, i think that spending rate is a one off, big gamble, and needs to be offset by sales in year 2 and 3. The other point is that Hutchinson 20m, Greaves 20m, and Smodicks 9m have never kicked a ball in the prem. In fact, only Ben Johnson and Kalvin Phillips have ever played in the prem from their entire squad Unless im being unfair. A midfield of Morsy Lluongo and Phillips would worry me. I don't think there is much to envy and it's very high risk.
-
There is a scary, electric player in Sulemana if he can get himself sorted. Made an impact in the prem last time, and took Leeds apart when we won 3-1 at SMS. But obviously he isn't a preferred starter and arguably is getting caught by SAA and TB
