  1. That ref was giving nothing today so going down would have been pointless, he would have just waved it away. We were nowhere near our best today and on the balance of play you'd have to say Burnley probably would have been happier with the performance, but we created by far the better chances, and could easily have won the game if we had our finishing boots on. It bodes well that we can go away from home to difficult teams in this league, not play anywhere near our best, get a point and feel disappointed we haven't won the game.
  2. What price to us or his true value as a player in the market place? I think there would be a huge difference between the two figures, which is why i can see him being here for a long time to come. He's infinitely more important to us than Oxo ever was
  3. Is anyone else getting slightly worried by what we have seen so far this season? I fear the centre back positions are going to be our undoing this season, as i'm not sure we have one let alone two who are capable of playing in a side aspiring to achieve promotion. Perhaps i'm over reacting but Jose has been far from impressive so far after an outstanding year last year
  4. I assume you'll be livid if Barnard doesn't end up with a lengthy prison sentence then? Get well soon Dan
  5. do you know the rest of the team?
  6. yep, that's just how to make money betting on football....
  7. I refuse to support odious men such as John Terry, regardless of what nationality he may be
  8. Correct. Vassell caused them all sorts of problems for the first 30 mins or so. After that we settled and played exceptionally well, we just lacked the finish at times and Kasper made some terrific saves. A lot of positives to take from the game, but the performance of Seabourne and Fonte wasn't one of them!
  9. I now it's a game of opinions but i'm afraid the commentary got this right. He was absolutely dreadful for the first half, as was Fonte to be honest. Your mates must have been watching a different game if they thought he played well. He was dragged out of position regularly, and as soon as a player turned and ran at him he was giving away free kicks in dangerous positions. It was a 3/10 performance
  10. I think you've been quite lenient on Fonte and Seabourne (both were abysmal in the first half in my opinion, gettting dragged all over the place by their two front men) but apart from that i would echo your sentiments. I'm bizarrely more of a believer now then i was before the game. With a dominant centre half alongside Fonte and a pacy striker to give us another option up front, i really think we could be challenging at the top. Lallana really is a joy to watch at the moment
  11. Simon Grayson after the Leeds game: "It was a shock to the system considering how well we played six days before against Newcastle, when we had energy, passion, desire. We had none of that. Too many players went out to do their own thing and not what we told them and that’s where we’ve come unstuck" Keith Hill after the Barnsley game: "It was not very good, it was not a reflection of Keith Hill or a Keith Hill team. I'm not angry, just very disappointed. Southampton are a good side but we did not perform, individually or collectively." Paul Jewell last night: "I'm lost for words. We looked frightened to death and I don't know where some of our defending came from. We gave them too much space and defended desperately." Have we been that impressive or have we been lucky to come up against three sides who simply didn't turn up?
  12. Surely the point made is that whilst that may be true, there must be a reason(s) why these youngsters are like that. Poor parenting? A lack of education? Ostracised from society? Poverty? It strikes me as strange that people who are calling these kids yobs and scum don't seem to want to address why they are turning out to be yobs and scum
  13. Absolutely. If we can keep them together it will be a very exciting midfield
  14. Personally don't agree with that. Schneiderlin, Lallana, Chamberlain, Stephens... We have a very young and talented midfield and we could do with an experienced head in there with them next season. Hammond has done the role this year, but i'd like to see him replaced with someone like Matt Oakley. An experienced pro who with age has added bite to his game coupled with his passing ability that has always been there
  15. spot on
  16. Danny Rose on loan from spurs Beattie to give lambert some competition A midfield general, Danns or maybe try and tempt Oakley back home? Another experienced centre half in the Jaidi mould Mackail-Smith Keep hold of Chamberlain
  17. I think people are massively overrating the Championship here... It's been proven over the last few seasons if you're good enough to get promotion from league 1 then you're good enough to compete with just a couple of clever signings. Leeds, Norwich, Leicester, Millwall have shown the way for others to follow. The players that have produced this season should get a chance in the championship
  18. It's about a bunch of mickey mouse teams needing their accomplishments to be acknowledged to give themselves some sort of validation. It's all a load of nonsense. It's one thing for the premier league champions to have it (they are after all the best team in england) but for these nothing clubs to be demanding one is just farcical
  19. Or maybe Brighton need to get over themselves... The guard of honour was started as a recognition of the premier league champions i.e. the number one team in England, the best. Forming a guard of honour for the 45th best team is the most ridiculous thing i've ever heard, particularly when the game is an important one for us in our promotion campaign. Our players should be fully focused on getting a result, not on massaging Brighton's highly inflated ego
  20. No Morgan, no Lallana and Dean Hammond is playing, what does anyone expect?
  21. Dune, your right wing bull**** is far more boring and offensive than Alpine who, although is knee jerk and overly pessimistic most of the time, cannot blamed for being that way having been a saints fan for however long he has. We never do things the easy way and have spent a long time underachieving, it's no surprise fans think we will screw things up again. If you don't have anything saints related to discuss, why don't you stay off the main board and post your political ramblings on another of the forums, and stop wasting your time on this sad obsession with Alpine. Time to get out a bit more and get a life i think...
  22. Team news is obviously key. I think Fergie will rest quite a few, and if they line up with neville, evans and fabio at the back you might be wishing you took the 7s as all of that will have gone...
  23. It won't be all up front, that's not the way that club does things. They pick off future superstars for a few million quid up front with the promise of add ons, knowing full well if they ever have to pay them they won't care as they'll have a player worth multiple times what they paid originally... Disgusting to continually see our club produce players with world class potential only for them to be sold off after five minutes of first team football. Not blaming anyone because i don't see what anyone can do to stop it but it's a very sad day every time we sell another one off. And, in my opinion, Theo was all pace when he was with us whereas oxo has shown so much more than pace already. I think he'll be a better player than Theo and will undoubtedly play for England. When all that happens i don't think people will look back and think we got a good deal. I guess time will tell. And Wenger's comments today are the equivalent of tapping up. No agreement with club or player but stating clearly in public that he wants to sign him. And he has the cheek to slag off Barcelona over Fabregas...
  24. How much do people think oxo will be worth in say, five years time?
  25. or 87.5% likely...
