That's a bizarre thing to say considering the history of decent priced winners in the National, let alone the number of big priced horses that run into a place...
-
I think both Plymouth and Boro could be in for a hammering tomorrow... Only a couple of bets for me tomorrow, one of which will be the Half time/Full time market for the Birmingham Norwich game. Norwich to be leading at half time and birmingham to win the game. 33/1 betfair
-
Not always the case. For example, back In the Strachan days when Beattie scored practically all our goals and we kept a lot of clean sheets, the 1 nil and 2 nil scorecasts with Beattie scoring first was always a good bet, despite not being the most attractive price (compared to the other scorecast odds). If anyone has a Paddyy Power account, Surman to score at any time tomorrow is value at 13/2. It should really be about 7/2 - 4/1.

Was Lowe a lot closer to being right than we give him credit for?

You're wasting your time St Marco. This thread has proved that no matter what mistakes Lowe makes there will be posters who defend him and support him. He could rip this club apart and send us into liquidation, and there are posters who will still think it's in the club's best interests. It really is pointless debating, especially with Nineteen. All good points by the way -

I'd like an apology please Nineteen. When you're ready... As for the rest of your response... completely laughable. You luvvies continue to blame the fans for our problems, just like Rupert, and you fail to understand one very simple thing: The customer is always right. Without fans coming through the turnstiles, there is no revenue stream and the business fails. It's that simple for football at this level. All Rupert has done since he came back is drive fans away, be it from his mere presence or the fact the football this season has been overpriced and dire. Crowds WOULD have been higher this season if Pearson and Leon had stayed, and, just to repeat myself as i know this to be true, Barclays were more than satisfied with the plan of action Leon and Salz put to them, and were prepared to support them fully in carrying it out. It must be very depressing being Lowe, having all these visionary ideas about how football should develop, only to see them fail spectacularly one by one. -

1. LC and Salz also had the backing of the banks. The "gross mismanagement" was caused by men Wilde put in the place, the one who Lowe has snuggled up with. The financial mess we are in is down to relegation from the Premier League (under Lowe's chairmanship with his 3 different managers in a season) and overspending by the executives Wilde appointed. Those two are responsible. 2. The only reason Lowe had to use a plan B was because his plan A failed spectacularly. His plan B would have been LC's plan A (only with Pearson in charge rather than Wotte). 3. "the main priority has been to survive and avoid administration". Do you think you achieve that by doing everything in your power to drive away supporters???? Crowds have been down to 14k for most of the season, and that is because they will not pay money to watch kids playing rubbish 'propaganda' football. Simply reducing costs is NOT the answer to getting the club out of the financial mess it is in. He has NOT "turned around" anything. He has made things worse -
Absolutely. One of a number of players to have been treated disgracefully by Lowe. We saw at the end of last season under Pearson how useful he could be and now he's back in the side it seems his experience is proving extremely valuable.

It's quite scary how a man who received such an excellent education can be so stupid. That's Rupert's biggest problem. It's not his arrogance or his demeanour, just the fact that he doesn't have two brain cells to rub together
-
Absolutely. We haven't played good football this season. We've played, as Strachan used to say, propoganda football.
-
An absurd, moronic statement

Some would say he was given more money than 90% of other teams in the division and blew the lot. I don't think i've ever seen 7 million wasted the way Burley did.
-
Not disputing that. Things didn't go to plan at all for him at Charlton. But for people to say he has failed everywhere he has been is complete nonsense. Appointing a manager is always a risk. Look at Burley, who had a pretty damn good record before he came to us. Look how he did. I don't think we could get a manager with better credentials than Dowie, that's all i'm trying to say
-
Not only that, but he has a history with the club having played here and would also, no doubt, bring his assistant manager with him, one Tim Flowers, who also has a long history with the club. I think Dowie could just be the man for us
-
There is often a lot of rubbish posted on here, but that takes the biscuit. At Oldham he took them into the playoffs, and then worked there despite not being paid due to massive financial problems. He took Palace up to the prem, and then very nearly kept them up despite having very little money to spend. At Charlton he was given 12 games. I don't think you can judge a manager on 12 games. At Coventry he was manager for 49 games in total, and had 20 wins, 21 draws with a win percentage of 40. That's verging on automatic promotion form. At QPR he was manager for 15 games, and won 8 of them, and left the club in 9th position. How you can say he was a failure everywhere i really do not know.

"You Wotte?"

The AGM is the one time of the year when a shareholder gets to air his views on the direction the club is heading. So what if we got angry and shouted? As a 10% shareholder who has put more money into this club than Lowe has in 10 years, and having seen his plan for next year ditched for this dutch **** instead, i think he had every right to be angry
-
The only way to hurt Lowe is by boycotting home games. He won't care until the gates are drastically low. I think the key to this is getting exposure so my suggestion would be to get in contact with some ex players who would support the removal of Lowe. Dave Armstrong, Dave Merrington and Matt Le Tissier i'm certain would support the removal of Lowe and Wilde. Ask them to stage a meeting and publicly endorse a mass boycott of a home game and get some press exposure to the whole thing. Crowds are very low at the moment, but getting a crowd of a few thousand for a home game would certainly interest Barclays i would think. Especially if they knew the figure was low due to Rupert's presence at the club...

I'm afraid we lost the game before a ball had been kicked with the team selection. I was embarrassed that United were in first gear throughout. We could have had a go like Preston and Gillingham and Southend but we didn't

Quote: "I hope Jan/Lowe has at least done some homework for United although i fear he will simply tell them to go out and play their total football and all will be fine. A proper manager will have noticed that Evra is suspended so O'Shea will probably be left back. John O'Shea is not that great there. He is all right foot and can be done for pace at times. Definitely the weak spot in their team, so whatever we do we have to play a naturally wide right player with pace who will have a go at him. I guess the only option is McLaggon. If he plays Smith on the right it will prove without doubt that he is completely tactically inept (although that has already been proven to be honest?. I'd like to see Gillett start as of all our midfielders he is one of the few who can get in players' faces and make life difficult. Euell alongside him to provide some experience and for his engine. James is a disaster at right back but we all know he will play so it makes it doubly important we get back to having a shape that provides some cover for him, especially against a side like united. I'm afraid Jan/Lowe that involves ditching the stupid formation that doesn't work with the players we have." Will someone please explain why your average football fan was able to spot what i did prior to the game but yet our manager is totally incapable of it? I would really like to know what the hell Jan was doing in training all last week. Our one chance yesterday came from a John O'Shea mistake. We should have been targeting him from the start, but instead we tried to play pretty football against Man Utd. Scandalous. Jan Port Vale OUT Rupert OUT Yesterday was embarrassing. United never got into 2nd gear.

Good. He deserves all the abuse he gets. It will be a glorious day when him and Judas are gone from this club forever.

What plans does he have to draw back the thousands of fans who are not attending this season that did last season? Does he accept that getting these fans back throught the turnstiles on a regularly basis is key to us avoiding administration? Does he accept that fans are staying away because either a) he is back at the club or b) the football served up is dross? Does he accept the football being dross is due to loaning out and selling the team's best players? Does he therefore accept that taking these cost cutting measures is a false economy as what we save in wages we also lose in gate revenue? Does he further understand that if we continue selling/loaning out our best players then the team will be weakened which will result in relegation which will ineveitably lead to administration? Taking the following into consideration, does he accept his plan of action on returning to the club was fundamentally flawed? One further question, how does he feel Nigel Pearson is getting on at Leicester?

One of my favourite Strachan phrases, and sums this team up perfectly

Th rest of the team, although ****e, are not disgusting cheats and at least 'play' with some effort
