    Drink?

Looks like I'll be along for this one, in the company of my good friend SO5 4BW. What's the venue?
  2. I thought maybe more like this:
  3. Many, many posters on here could be called Toyah - Talking Out of Your...
  4. You certainly can't fault Emma on her last sentence though: Downright prophetic if you ask me.

    Gin

Depends on how much mixer you use to how much spirit I guess. I can certainly tell the difference between different gins, but it's a lot harder to do so if the gin's smothered with tonic (all the more so if it's a crap tonic). Matter of taste when it comes down to it of course.
  6. Have you ever driven in Italy?

    Gin

I'm sure I posted on this thread last night, but it seems to have been lost in the Great Database Mangling of 2015. Anyway, Berkeley Square, produced by Greenall's (I think - they seem to have been re-branding like crazy) is a beautiful gin. Best drunk with a proper tonic (Fever tree is my preference, though Fentimans do a decent one as well) plus some torn basil leaves in place of the slice of lemon or lime. It's pretty pricey (around £38 for a 70cl bottle) but worth it for a treat now and again. Bloom, from the same maker, is less expensive but still lovely; also easier to get hold of, as you won't find Berkeley Square in too many shops. Good tonic is very important - if you're prepared to spend decent money on the gin, why ruin it with rubbish like Schweppes?
  8. I have to say, you make Bear's untimely death for his art seem like a very attractive proposition. So much so, in fact, that I think he's being a totally selfish bastard for refusing to do it.
  9. Yes, I used to drink in there a fair bit in the mid-late 70s - liked the place a lot. They served Royal Oak (a lovely strong best bitter from Eldridge Pope) and there was a bar billiard table as well. Proper old neighbourhood boozer. We used to refer to it affectionately as the W*nker and Pope, as you would do. Long gone now, almost needless to say.
  10. Yes, yes, yes - but is there any better, more wholehearted, more supportive booing anywhere? Well is there? No, I think not.
  11. An excellent cricketer (though I'm too young to remember his playing days) and a peerless commentator. They read out some of the entries in his crib list on Radio 4 this morning and they were all spot on. Wish a few other commentators would read them and take note. RIP Richie.
  12. It must be nice to have such a vivid imagination.
  13. And, since you mention it, there is definitely something of Beckett in the dialogue between you and Sarnia - Waiting for Comprehension, perhaps. You could have a very long game indeed on your hands.
  14. Crikey, that was subtle!
  15. Yes indeed; apparently it's more than you can manage though.
  16. You disagreed with a statement about gun control; you then said you agreed with said statement, and challenged CB Fry to show where you disagreed with it. Nothing to do with how anyone speaks English, though quite a bit to do with how you understand it (or fail to understand it). You've contradicted yourself, though I think we all know where you actually stand on the matter. However, your ability to read something, say you don't agree with it, then claim you've never disagreed with it, scarcely does you any favours. CB Fry's initial question that I posted above is perfectly clear, though it does seem to have given you some comprehension problems.
  17. Well, since you asked, though I'm really not sure why I'm doing this...
  18. It certainly was. Shearsmith and Pemberton are talented chaps, and the darker they get the better they are.
  19. Anyway, why did the Bear cross the road? He couldn't get his díck out of the chicken.
  20. Ha! As if I would share my secrets with one not even on the list.
  21. Give me a while to think about that, Halo...
  22. Hmm, not so sure about this. While I bow to no man in my admiration for and hero-worship of Balti Stench, I'm not sure that even he could compete with the charms afforded by Lou and PompeyLass. On the other hand, you did mention crack cocaine... Oh, and I'm not certain that I'm going to be at the Spurs game - will have to consult my old chum SO5 about ticket availability.
  23. I feel your pain, but I couldn't resist the Madge reference.
  24. Might not 'Pap don't preach' be a better request?
  25. Which of the '71 pics are you in? My brother's in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd years one, right at the end of the front row. Don't know what happened to school photos after that, as I don't remember there being any that I'd have appeared in until I was in the upper sixth in 1978.
