  1. Two points. First, your posts are frequently laced with sneering and insults to other posters. Second, if another poster were to describe one of your posts as "utter b*ll*cks" you'd be complaining about abuse.
  2. And perhaps the same might apply to yours.
  3. "Sa-oot-gyempton" is the normal Russian pronunciation - I got very used to pronouncing it that way myself when talking to Russians (when in Rome and all that). A name like Schneiderlin (albeit without the nasalised final vowel) is a lot easier for a Russian speaker to pronounce. Slightly more on topic, it struck me that the editing was the real issue with the MotD highlights - for example, why was so much time spent on a dubious penalty shout which didn't get a mention anywhere else (hell, even Fat Sam only whined about the corner which led to our second goal)? As for the studio pundits, the less said the better.

    Solly March.

Can you narrow that down a bit?
  5. Allen of the News Single-sentence paragraphs Illiterate ***t. Perhaps writing in haiku form is Factless' ultimate aim? If so I'm all for it.
  6. He must have said goodnight to you on occasion then? This is not a nasty 'stalker' jibe, it's a reference to a song by the great Leadbelly. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rs3mj1E8LSU
  7. I think we should stop all these eyesight jokes. They're getting cornea and cornea.
  8. Yes, it does, doesn't it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z91arJDZ7Fk No wonder they've made her the fire minister.
  9. It's spelt with a dieresis on the 'i', so I'd guess the first syllable is pronounced as in naive, with the two vowels separate - Ta-ee-der.
  10. Didn't Argentina's 1978 World Cup squad have numbers assigned alphabetically? I'm sure I remember Ossie Ardiles wearing the number 1 shirt. Now that would be different, if not entirely original!
  11. If a player were described as 'one-dimensional' would you understand that?
  12. Yes, I remember that. It seems to have been conveniently forgotten by any number on here though.
  13. Will you also be producing giant "Turn off the Tap!" foam hands? If you are I'm in.
  14. Anita Ekberg - for those of us who like poncey foreign films...
  15. In front of a roaring fire, eh? How could I possibly refuse? But I didn't say that either. I've always tended to hear the third line as "Up to Lexicon, 125..." though sadly Lou makes no mention of syntax. He should. Incidentally, I think 'Goy Boat' works rather well, though it'll need to be taken up pretty much universally to get 'Goy' into the word cloud. Very Lenny Bruce, anyway.
  16. Look at his first paragraph, then remove everything between the first and last brackets - and read what remains. "Ings move is currently stalled, but we are still positive." Proust it isn't.
  17. I think it's pretty clear from the preceding posts that Lou Reed died a few months too soon. Had he lived, he'd doubtless now be penning a bleak masterpiece describing the agony felt by the denizens of TMS at the loss of their word clouds. We all feel sick and dirty, more dead than alive...
  18. Pretty damn groovy stuff there. When I clicked an item, the search entry had that item plus its apostrophised possessive form plus, in some cases, hashtags of each of those (do you pick up items which are tagged in some clever way?). So that's pretty much as I'd expect - the actual search results are an interesting mix of threads and forums. I should think that the great thread of threads must appear in an awful lot of searches merely by dint of its overwhelming size. And to your questions, my responses are:- Adding the thread title to each post is the right thing to do - the thread's existence is significant in itself and this is then reflected in the word cloud. Personally, I'd exclude user names - we all know who posts the mostest, and we don't really need to see the word Hypochondriac appear in every cloud. I'd also exclude a lot of commonly appearing words - player, thread, quote, season and more, as you suggest. The hardest part here will be knowing where to stop, as you could argue that the vast majority of words in posts lack any real significance. I guess adjectives and how they're trending will provide a good instant feel of the mood of the forum, nouns generally less so. Proper nouns will reflect subjects of discussion rather nicely. I assume you already exclude strings of asterisks from the clouds, as I'd expect to see a fair number of them otherwise.
  19. Were we? When was this assurance given and by whom?
  20. Crikey. An approbationary name-check from the Mighty Bletch, like whom you won't see nothing. My life is now complete. Brilliant things them there tweet clouds, by the way.
  21. No, the Soviet Union shot down a Korean airliner over Sakhalinsk nearly thirty years ago. US forces in the Persian Gulf did shoot down an airliner (Iranian I think) a few years later.
  22. I don't want Fop, godammit! I'm a Dapper Dan man!
  23. Sounds like he's leaving the door open for Osvaldo then...
