  1. I agree entirely, except that you're actually understating your case. We've scored 13 goals in the last four league matches, 15 in the last five. We should have had a few in the first half yesterday, and had one disallowed. And we looked by far the better side all match. If we looked unlikely to score when playing 4-5-1/4-3-3 then I'd agree with the original poster, but that's hardly the case.
  2. Top stuff. Nobody ever did it quite like Hank, and I doubt anybody ever will.
  3. I should say not - far be it from me to insult a man with such a fine avatar! (It is Hank, isn't it?)
  4. This sounds like a pretty vile practice, especially if they use gaffer tape as that's a real bugger to remove from anything.
  5. Yep, he played in the match at Plymouth for 69 minutes - good news indeed.
  6. Playing and managerial CVs are very different things. How great a player (to use an obvious example) was Sir Bobby Charlton? How great a manager?
  7. Isn't he employed as a football manager rather than a poet? I can't help feeling that his verses would probably match those of Nauseus in Up Pompeii - "I was stuck for a rhyme there". Then again, his odes to Rupert Lowe (much amended), Mark Wotte (ditto) and Anthony Pulis could well be masterpieces.
  8. Excellent piece of (mis)interpretation there - and a clear indication of the risks of structural ambiguity in wording posts! I like Benjii's interpretation much better.
  9. Very true. I think the site sorely misses out-and-out trolling of Scooby's high quality. Poor old Charlie will never fill that gap I'm afraid.
  10. Maybe he'll sign for Arsenal - then you'll be able to watch him play again!
  11. I agree. What with his payout and all, Keegan could surely find somewhere better to eat than the Wykeham, especially as it's just a shadow of its former self these days. Hell, he may even chose to eat somewhere other than Winchester - he's got millions FFS.
  12. The price of a season ticket at the Emirates?
  13. Good post - I particularly liked that bit!
  14. OK then. I have seen him play, for the reserves last season against Swansea. Yes, he was hopeless - I'd expect a player of his age and experience to at least look the part in a CCC reserve match, but he looked way out of his depth. Oh, and it may just be the case that his record prior to joining Saints, coupled with the highly dubious manner of his signing, leads to a fair amount of the slagging off. Anyone engaging their brain can draw conclusions from a playing record like that. And, while I'm on the subject, why should only negative posts about Pulis start with the have/haven't seen him play statement? What about positive posts? Granted, it's hardly likely that anyone who's seen him play will have anything positive to post about him, thus rendering the statement superfluous, but I'm sure you get my drift.
  15. Likewise - I had an 'I see what you did there' moment!
  16. My comment had nothing to do with the game last night (and no, I wasn't there). In fact, I didn't even mention the game, or Saints' performance. I was simply commenting on your assertion that it's a 'waste of time' (in capitals in your original post) sending 'moans and groans' into the club.
  17. If Alan Pardew (or any other football manager, come to that) listened to the various moans and groans of supporters, then he'd have to play at least twenty different styles at once, and have pretty much the entire first-team squad on the pitch. Hardly feasible really. Do you think he should spend all his time sifting through a heap of suggestions and comments, or would he be better off actually managing the team? Or are you angling for a job as his special advisor, with particular emphasis on capital letters, multiple full stops and smilies?
  18. Excellent reading there! Let's hope the Fialka comparisons prove correct.
  19. Perhaps he was actually praying...
  20. Makélélé. And how far is your office from St Mary's? Perhaps you could coach Wotton until he can accurately hit your waste-paper basket, then get him to up his level until he can get the ball out of the office door nine times out of ten. After that, the sky's the limit.
  21. I like your thinking. Presumably Pulis would post mostly on the Muppet Show, occasionally in the Lounge, but would never make it near the main board...
  22. And you've waited two years to post that?
  23. Ah - have you got those Long Gone Lonesome Blues then?
  24. I think it's quite possible that another manager might have given us at least a fighting chance of survival. With Poortvliet and then Wotte we didn't even have that.
  25. Nobody thinks that a 10% win rate is acceptable. People are expecting it to improve, and to do so pretty dramatically. This is based on what they've seen so far this season in terms of improvement in performances and personnel. Yes, we lost on Tuesday, against a good side who played very well. Had we taken one of two excellent chances when we were 2-1 up we'd probably have won. I came away disappointed at the result, but very pleased with a lot of our play. Were you really expecting a 70% win rate over the first ten games?
