  1. Don't know why or how I've stumbled upon this. But interesting to see how much he's come on and how wrong some people were!
  2. wouldn't it be fantastic to get a huge crowd at st.mary's - treat it as a proper derby!
  3. I think in every game, not just Sat, Lallana has been pretty good this season. Has such good feet and the ability to create/go past people which we lack with Gaston on the bench and Punch out on loan. Coupled with his technical ability is his work rate, he helped out defensively on countless occasions on Sat., and all in all AL is showing real signs of fulfilling his huge potential. Has to be in woy's thoughts for me
  4. Who was the last 'big' player to come down from the SPL and really excel either in the Premier League or abroad? I'm not saying there hasn't been many (I don't think there has to be fair), just can't really remember
  5. One of the most highly rated young players in Bundesliga, yes please.
  6. Watching the Champs League final, I wouldn't be too disappointed with a similar style to Bayern's shirt, simple and smart
  7. People having a pop at MP for showing no 'allegiance' or 'loyalty' need to get a grip. I want our club playing exciting football, with actual ambition, not some yo-yo, defeatist mentality - justified as 'we have a loyal manager'. Over time MP's affinity for Saints and its supporters will grow, but its been four months ffs. And already in that time he has actually tried to build something, with modern methods and a proper footballing philosophy. Lets get behind him and Cortese on Saturday and make it clear that we, as a club, are willing to show a bit of courage and ambition.
  8. I was thinking someone in the 'Maynor Figueroa mould' would be great for us. On another note one Ecuadorian has excelled in the PL for both Wigan and United
  9. For me recent England managers seem out of touch with the PL outside the top 5 to 6 teams and also lack the impetus or energy to bridge that gap in knowledge. The job normally comes to those with experience and with that, the appointment appears a 'safe' choice but it would be great to see a youthful, enthusiastic manager given the job. I actually quite like Hodgson, but can't help but feel we won't progress without some fundamental changes. Klinsmann was an unlikely choice for Germany in 2004, perhaps our next boss should be someone of a similar ilk. Gary Neville? Pearce?
  10. Because the defence of Welbeck has nothing to do with any criticism of Rodriguez. I also happen to know 2 United season ticket holders who rate Welbeck very highly, and a Sunderland fan who constantly bangs on about the quality he showed whilst on loan there. All about opinions and debate at the end of the day. Re Rodriguez I happen to think he has a lot of attributes current English strikers simply do not possess - pace, purpose, decision making on/off the ball, great technique in striking the ball.
  11. What an odd thing to say.
  12. Couldn't agree more
  13. Gets such a hard time for some reason. Got great feet, strong, does the simple things well. I'd agree he needs to add goals to his game but in the 2 legs against R. Madrid he was Utd's best player, and Fergie continues to play him in big games. I'd trust SAF on footballing matters over any of the numpties who continually put Welbeck down.
  14. Class little finish as well
  15. Every highlight I see of Seager he looks class, so calm in front of goal and not greedy either, often creating chances through good vision + sliding through passes.
  16. Some good research and some good points. For me Ramirez does not compromise the need to field a side that will win that specific match. Against Everton in MP's first match he closed down very well imo and worked hard across Everton's defensive third. Also I feel my comparison with United and RVP was slightly misplaced. Teams fighting a relegation battle compared with a side 12 points clear at the top of the league face more sensitive selection issues imo, re less easy to leave out best players.
  17. If United win 3-1 without Van Persie, does that justify leaving him out the next game? You play your best 11, which imo includes Ramirez.
  18. I agree with most of what you said to be fair, but I think the link between Lallana and conceding the 4 we did on Sunday is at best unfair, at worst down right scandalous.
  19. Ramirez has too much quality to leave out, especially in home games. If we have Punch and AL tracking back to support full backs then leaving GR to play in behind Lambert is not risky, it is necessary in games where we may need a certain creativity and flair to unlock defences. Within 30 seconds against Newcastle he played a first-time pass from a throw-in that bypassed 2 players closing him down, and immediately we were on the attack. Davis, Rodriguez, even Puncheon in the same situation would have passed backwards and invited pressure, GR has calmness, confidence and the ability to be the difference in games like QPR on Saturday.
  20. This. The impact he has had in such a short space of time is quite astonishing. One of our greatest signings ever
  21. Lallana for me has to start. Showed his class in the pass/cross for Rickie's goal, most wide players would have hacked a cross in hoping for someone to get on the end of it. He also rinsed Santon moments later before clipping in a cross for RL to head wide, something j-rod can't provide, and Punch rarely does as he cuts inside a lot, or links up with Clyne. Punch - GR - Lallana should be the 3 attacking mf against QPR
  22. What striker, good or bad, doesn't miss chances? Can only remember the one gilt-edged chance Benteke missed in that game anyway. RL missed 2/3 against Everton at home
  23. Lambert for me all day long, the guy makes almost everything he does look easy. But people saying they don't rate Benteke are wrong imo. 22 years old, so strong, got good feet, brings others into play. Settled quickly in the PL with 11 goals already, I've been mightily impressed.
