Honestly the hysteria on here is palpable. He hasn't gone yet, and if he does I am sure we will get good money for him. I will be as gutted as the next fan to lose a player who has been a talisman on our journey. But we have to accept his age and the possibility he may not fit in the new managers plans. There does seem a concerted effort from clubs and the press to try it on with Saints to see if the change of board has become a change of policy in respect of selling players. This may well be orchestrated from a small bunker near Milan. So what evidence do we actually have? Krueger has repeatedly said we won't sell on anything but our terms. We have yet to sell one player, this includes the Arsenal Schneiderlin bid we rejected in January. I wasn't a fan of Krueger when I met him but would be amazed if he makes a strong statement on Wednesday and sells a club idol by the weekend. It may all go to rat ****, but let's judge it on the whole summer rather than getting all Chicken Lickin. If it is any consolation this is how Liverpool fans are feeling about Suarez and Citeh fans are feeling about Aguero and Toure. Our run of improvement will have to slowdown and reverse at some point. Maybe now, maybe later - but as a Public Enemy put it, "don't believe the hype".

Yep, we'd get circa £3m

@bbcsport_david: Southampton have not accepted Liverpool offer for Lambert but talks continue & #SaintsFC won't stand in his way if they get right deal #LFC @bbcsport_david: Southampton have already rejected offers this summer for Luke Shaw from Manchester United & Adam Lallana from Liverpool #SaintsFC #mufc #lfc

"It's very clear we are in control of all the player transfers," said Southampton chairman Ralph Krueger. "All our top players are under long-term contract, and any transfers will take place on our terms. We will decide the terms of any potential transfers in and out of the club, and we will involve the [next] manager. That is important for everybody to know."

Don't forget to deduct the Bristol Rovers sell on before saying any figures is a good deal. http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/Bristol-Rovers-verge-financial-windfall-following/story-21162400-detail/story.html

Seeing lots of reports of bids, none that we have accepted.
-
Liverpool Echo reporting £4m + add ones. A ****ing shambles if true.

Still no credible news source running the story. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-looking-seal-surprise-signing-3623384

@dankerins: Okay, so Rickie Lambert to Liverpool is real. I genuinely did not see that one coming. #saintsfc @SimonPeach: Not had anything firmed up on the talk of Lambert to #LFC but, put it this way, nobody has told me it's a rumour without foundation. @gordonsimpson: Lambert to Liverpool, if true (which it increasingly sounds like it is), is a jaw dropper. #saintsfc

Sky Sources = Twitter I repeat, no serious news outlet reporting this and it's come out of nowhere.
-
Pochettino's departure has been reported to be a pre-cursor to several leading players also leaving but Krueger said there are no deals in place for either Adam Lallana or Luke Shaw. "Under the circumstances we wanted to wait to clarify the manager's situation to move forward. There are no deals done," Krueger said.

I love Rickie, but £9m? Has to be a windup.
-
Didn't someone post the first year we in the Prem after the first 8 games we should apply to forfeit?
-
No serious media have picked this up. Sky have simply stopped taking bets as it's Giro day and the whole of Scouseland has stacked on this rumour.
-
Can someone tell the dude re-laying the pitch he needn't bother as we won't be able to field a team.
-
Moved to main board as will get more views.
-
Source?

Great article Nicola, sorry I meant Neil.

Peach is 100% Saints fan and has some decent links to the club. Save your venom for Alex Crook.

Apart from the chronology being completely incorrect? Pochettino did what Cortese wanted, not through obligation, but through instinct. Unfortunately for Southampton, Markus Liebharr, who appointed Cortese, died, and his daughter-and-heir, Katharine, figured the family had spent enough of their fortune on an English football club. With strategy tending towards a breakeven point, Cortese resigned. It was inevitable that Pochettino would follow.
