Today's display aside, in theory he is good backup for Kelvin. You either get someone so poor (Forecast) or someone good enough to be a #1 elsewhere.
That said, the defence has no confidence in him, and haven't for years. Anyone who saw the Bennett and Bart show versus Crystal Palace in 2007 will agree.
