Nonsense. People get upset when they are not made to feel special. You treat users on here as mere statistics/notches on a bedpost. What tarts do you think we are? And my blogs? I havn't posted one in months. No intention of for a while either unless something a little different comes to mind. When we are in the media and opinion pieces are ten a penny there's little point in adding to the noise.

What would be more embarrassing for them? A hammering by us or a defeat to 'Barton Rovers?'
-
Oh that's it! The guy who sent out all the friend requests to anyone and everyone. I checked your profile, saw I didn't know you from Adam and politely declined!! Weirdo.

Sorry, who are you again?

Which has a certain logic to it, particularly given the way Lambert found Welbeck in the Moldova game with his passing. Given the tactical set up though Jay was never going to fit, too wide out to be a foil for another striker despite not strictly being a winger either. Saints play an extremely fluid forward three who can interchange position passed on the requirement at the time. England on friday night where rigid, inflexible and unimaginative. It didn't allow Jay to shine and highlighted the good things that we are doing currently to maximise the talent we have. As per your original point it also meant that Jay would never have been forward enough in the first place to play the Welbeck role, which is a great pity. Lallana suffered a little for it too, immediately pressing Chile from kick off only for him to look behind after they passed upfield to see he was 40 yards further up then anyone down the right-hand side making his pressing effort redundant. Thankfully his more 'all action' combative style enabled him to get a foothold that Jay otherwise couldn't.

Agreed. This call up really didn't make sense to me, he was playing well without setting the world alight and had scored a few but there were more obvious choices within our squad for selection. It may just highlight how short England are up front. He didn't play brilliantly v Chile in an unfamiliar line-up and tactical plan meaning he has now been set aside, I hope it will not effect his confidence too much as he does seem to need it to thrive.

Paul Flowers you mean? The man who's only prior financial experience was a spell as a bank cashier in his 20's? Yeah, he would be ideal as part of the Skate board!

I wouldn't be overly enthused by it. He moved on, we moved on. Going back would set an uncomfortable position for AOC.... I suspect he wouldn't be interested in a move anyway on that basis alone.

Superb Keith! Great for your first ever half marathon time. Don't make the mistake I did and keep on going now, i'm finding it a real struggle getting back into it, enter another event as soon as you can and consolidate your effort and progress.

Only if they are the right players, it is not impossible that a rush of blood could lead us to signing a perceived 'star' who ends up shattering team spirit and becoming totally counter productive. Faustino Asprilla being a good example. We have set our stall out with a philosophy of youth development, bringing in a few stars on top of those already here may be seen as counter productive and possibly demotivational.

Who is the best midfielder - Lallana, Henderson or Cleverley?
Colinjb replied to Glasgow_Saint's topic in The Saints
Yep. Henderson struggled a bit when he first left Sunderland but considering he was in a team that was in transition that's not a surprise. He has matured nicely. Adam is however in the form of his life and as you say, right now he is the best of the three. -
It's part of the fun seeing how self important they still are when all they have achieved is the fate of permanent mediocrity for their beloved club.
-
Well, as their history is all they have you can't blame them for dwelling on it!
-
Genuine lolz!!

Beautiful. The prophecies laid out on here are maturing nicely..... again!

Don't remind me, that was a long trip back.

A few inaccuracies in there but still good to read.

MLG posted something along the lines of this last happening in 1986. Yes:

Must take after his mother!

Has been mentioned. Would be great to see, especially with Adam. We saw how well Welbeck fed from Lambert's delivery. Jay would also benefit from having him on the pitch.... It would be amazing to see a Saints front three up front for England.

Punch fitted well within our system and I believe he still would. The best thing about his game was his communication and rapport with Clyne, it has taken us a little while to recover from that no longer being available and now Clyne is once again comfortable with those around him. Do we need Punch? No, but he would still be a useful option. Should we sign a winger? No, that's not how we play. Which is why Punch would still be a good option as he is better cutting inside and running at people while exchanging passes with his fellow attackers rather then going around the outside and delivering a cross. Clyne and Shaw are there for that. It is a shame he wanted away.

Admitted I got that wrong whilst supporting Saints!
Colinjb replied to Nadia Sllim's topic in The Saints
Hence the 'and many more.....' 5 wasn't enough! Besides, he asked for a top five... No limit was given and I provided mine with bonus content. -
Erm, have we gone back in time to January here?
