That northern echo article isn't the best researched.
I know the Jan Poortvliet and Mark Wotte times are best forgotten, but still. There is obviously a bit of 'protecting their man' going on there but still. There appears to be agenda on all sides and as always the truth is inevitably somewhere in the middle.
Remember that game so vividly, my first ever at St Mary's.
Sitting on the Northam/Kingsland corner and right in line with Beattie as he surged up the right flank before delivering his cross into Pahars at the Chapel end.
A wonderful day, so good to get the monkey off our backs and a sign of things to come under Strachan in the next few years.
This
Absolute self belief
A respectful general public
Outstanding beer
Good domestic football
Extremely competitive national team
But being English, that's still being dealt an extremely good hand!
This almost misses the point.
Everything a manager says has an impact. Be it a media statement a newspaper quote or a direct conversation gets back to the players.
It's all a game. He is playing it brilliantly.
I laugh at those London yobbo's! They havn't even entered the Southern League yet! Laughable to compare them to our wonderful club. They are no Millwall Athletic, barely even an Uxbridge.
To think they laughed at us when we hit rock bottom with the 13,257 against Sheffield United towards the base of the championship. That would constitute such progress for them.
Have they found rock bottom yet or is the scraping around in the dirt just revealing further and further to fall?
Just think, they don't need the football league to punish them, it's all coming from within now.
Dwindling crowds, poor team performances and more blood sucking mercenaries jumping on board. And firmly cemented now in the relegation zone.
I do enjoy this Southern League, a wonderful invention. I wonder if it'll ever be a match for those Northern drongos. It would be great for a Southern team to get to an FA Cup final.... maybe even a final or two!
I hope Freemantle don't get promoted this year, had those b*stards so much!
As above, this has to be due to our league status. Also very telling that kid's shirt sales are meant to be dramatically up (doubled), this could perhaps be the leading factor in sales exceeding prior years.
