My sentiments exactly mate, when we signed him he needed a gradual introduction to Premier league football having only played league one for Skates and Rochdale I think. Was dropped in deep end. What annoyed me was it was clear to all that he wasn't at the required level yet and Saints double downed on it , the fans forum where a perfectly reasonable fan questioned the persistence with Gav and got the most bizarre reply from Russ. Anyway he seems like a genuinely nice bloke to hope it works out for him

Yeah Arsenal kept calm and picking them off , should have been 1-5 at HT, the start did feel like a dress rehearsal for two weeks time, we know exactly how they'll start and come at us

They beat us comfortably at St Mary's in our promotion season as well, we could really do with getting something not just for league position but I sense fans on the verge of turning on players just a week before our trip to Fratton , terrible preparation heading into that. Very sober and cold, also feels like we have few likeable players with songs for them and every one turns up with low expectations of another rubbish game where we pass it around at the back, I think support will improve if we had a sustained feelgood period, been negative for so long it's been tough being a saints fan

My glimmer of hope is we get lucky in transfer window with couple of quality loans, but highly unlikely based on who is doing the recruiting

I still say that I think I enjoy more than the Premier league with tourist fans, VAR etc I'm sure we had this vote before start of season and I said 10th - 14th and had a whole host of people telling me that our squad "was more than good enough for the championship"

I'm still traumatised by a trip to Mansfield in 2000 for league cup 2nd round 2nd leg, very strange place, streaker ran on and waved his knob at Uwe Rosler, took ages for a steward to come on with a fire extinguisher to cover the offensive area and escort the bloke off the pitch

Just read 7,561 attendance, that's great and I know will be appreciated by the players , I think would have been quite a bit higher if Saints men weren't playing at almost the same time and on a warmer end of season fixture more families more likely to go, everyone loves seeing us beat the Skates 4-0. Still in with a shout of promotion but will need a very strong 2nd half of season
