I think if anything the last few years have shown we should give managers less leeway. As soon as its clearly not working get rid and roll the dice again and keep rolling the dice until we find one that works. Pretty much what we've done here.

Which of recently sacked managers should have been given more leeway than they were?

Was just coming on here to make a similar comment about him. Just has the look of a bloke completely obsessed with football and his job, can tell he loves it.

Second goal was brilliant - a great example of what we've been missing the last few years - fast, forward looking football. Would be nice to have converted our 2nd half dominance into another goal or two, appreciate that is being greedy now. I can't see a situation where Eckert doesn't get the job now. He's proved me completely wrong, didn't expect anywhere near this quality. It does really show what a difference the right manager at the right situation can make.

I think they did over-do the press and weren’t good enough at it. Teams often do well against us sitting deep and letting us play infront of them. Excellent performance in first half, best in a long time. Key being moving the ball quickly, something we just haven’t done in the last few years.

He only played 66 mins. He should be able to play another 60 mins today.

Does anyone have a running total of how much Solak/SR have put in to date?

Might not count for much but I do recall Alfie House a few weeks ago on the Total Saints Podcast speaking of Manning as a good bloke. Was just off the cuff and might mean nothing, but he’s not referenced other players in the same way. Manning’s issue is he’s just not a very good defender.

If any English club had a similar policy they would be derided as “little Englanders”. I think it would be great and there would be a far better bond between players and supporters of a team of our own.

34 is generally at the upper end of a professional footballers career these days and he was never the most mobile at his peak. Plus Spanish football is slower than the Championship. Hope the move works as he’s exactly the type of character we need.

Just hope he’s not too old/slow and is mobile enough to be a starter. I think he could offer leadership, but also something we really miss this season- game management. How and when to slow a game down, kill off some boring 1-0 wins.

Anyone know how much money Sports Republic and/or Solak has actually put into the club?

Does anyone actually expect us to pick up a decent quality striker in January? Would be a tough ask even for a very well run club if we’re sitting well down the Championship table. Would there be any point doing it? Could well be adrift of the play offs by then. Best option would be a loan for a Premier League striker who needs the game time, there must be a few who would tick that box.

Which players are the problem then? Which old players are consistently an issue? THB? Archer? Armstrong always puts a shift in. Stephens wouldn’t have got the contract extension if he had attitude problem. Have heard good a few positive bits about Manning. I’d expect Downes but he’s not even been involved much this past month or so.

I enjoy these podcasts, but still far too soft on Still for me. Yes the players deserve stick too, but ultimately it is Still's job to get them playing well.

What are the chances of any kind of protest from the red wall? Just can’t see our support doing anything like that these days.
