  1. That's not good for the side..don't you remember that we were educated in this in the "meltdowns" of Mane, Wanyama,Morgan etc. leaving... there is no point in keeping someone who doesn't want to be here..we are better off letting him go. Hard enough someone unhappy who is team member but the captain?
  2. W We spent nearly 100 million pounds? Mane, Pelle, Austin, Forster, Wanyama, Bertrand, Cedric, VVD, Clasie, Long..do I need to go on? That's how we finished sixth not by spending peanuts!
  3. O I don't get the Austin replaced Pelle bit..at the end of last season we had both so the squad was stronger then. Now we don't have both it is weaker. Doesn't matter if we planned it that way -the squad would still be stronger if we had both (which is what we had for 6 months).
  4. Actually that is reality..for example name one club which spent significantly more than us that we have consistanly finished higher than in the last ten years? Why are the big 6 the big 6? It's because they can spend more on players than the others!
  5. L I don't blame him either. The happy clappers have pointed out that we are a stepping stone club and its part of the reason we are successful. In fact they suggest it's a selling point for buying players and that players try harder as they are out to prove they are premier standard and so can move to Liverpool. Why would this not be the same for Fonte? He has worked hard and now if he has the chance to step up, he should be allowed the same opportunity.
  6. Looks a quality player, got to start next week.
  7. i have tickets including coach travel for the Man U game but now I will be in Manchester Friday anyway Flying up for work from Southampton. Do you reckon there will be an issue with me just using the return ticket on the coach?
  8. What Puel has in common with Poch is that they have repeatedly improved the clubs they were at, without necessarily having to use massive funds to do it. To me, that's the sign of a good manager and it gives me confidence he will be ok.
  9. http://the72.co.uk/62326/newcastle-united-fighting-with-southampton-to-sign-dutch-striker/ Couldn't see this posted..
  10. Doesn't quite say that unless being 12th in the betting is being a favourite? In fact Leicester are shorter odds to go down than us with sky bet!
  11. Didn't the Lazio chairman confirm that Man Utd bid 47 million for him?
  12. Nice that with the campaign to cut prices for away fans that we have ended up paying more to go to Arsenal than we have the last two seasons!
  13. Not sure they are looking to move players out? Unless they are really going for the record!
  14. there were some reports in France in early July, repeated on a West Ham forum..then reports saying the move had broken down later in July etc http://www.sports.fr/football/transferts/scans/southampton-pied-bientot-avec-puel-1554143/
  15. Yeah but I don't think the papers really know do they? I know Man Utd pay massive wages but with Pogba, Ibra, Rooney etc I would have thought there would be a limit on any wage they'd pay Fonte...if he is or is close to our highest earner I would have thought even they might bulk at his wages? However they also have loads of money so maybe not!
  16. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3456453/Mind-gap-Premier-League-wages-soar-average-salaries-2014-15-season-1-7million-rest-creep-along.html This suggests it may not have been quite as high during Matts time? I do think wages and what players are on.. are perceived as higher than they are due to stories about the real top earners? I thought I read Eriksen was negotiating a new contract as he was "only" on 30k a week?
  17. The background is boring..is that your bedroom? It's quite tidy...why not throw clothes everywhere and make it looked lived in for a real effect, also what is the picture on the wall? Looks more like a travelodge type affair than a teenagers bedroom, put up some pictures of saints players from shoot with blutak...also needs more dancing girls in the background.
  18. Perhaps Liverpool had a buy back deal, ala Real Madrid, for Lambert? And after the Swansea signings this week who can blame Mahrez?
  19. Alongside the commercial growth, UA and Virgin etc this is really good news, demonstrating the progress that the board has made in the last three years!
  20. Unless Man City will pay some of the wages, I can't see him being affordable?
  21. For me it's really not about how much we sold him for but I have to pick up on these points, just because I think your comments are not accurate? Many more teams can afford it now.. West Ham and Crystal Palace for example have bid £30 million for players this year? top class players aren't rising much? I suggest you look at what players are going for..What have Juve just paid For a player? PSG? Pogba?
  22. Sorry you missed my point. I don't think we should have sold him so early in the window..people on this forum are excusing the lack of transfer activity due to clubs wanting replacements lined up, in willing to sell, holding on to get the right price yet we happily sell first, strengthen our rivals and then buy (if history is to be repeated) on the final day of the window, having already played games and needing to "bed them in" (to use your words). To me the money is irrelevant and if we only got 10 million for him next year it wouldn't have mattered. I want to see the best team we can field, winning as many games as possible. Who cares what profit we make? To the club it appears selling at the highest price is the key metric.
  23. Sorry they were before the price inflation we are seeing now. Either of those two would have been a much higher fee this year! And if Liverpool didn't meet the fee? We kept him in the team for another year..would that be a disaster? Only if your primary concern is selling at the highest value or saving on wages? (I don't believe paying wages for the summer come in to it -that would be a mental reason for selling early or buying late).
  24. Lol definitely and this is also why the general public shouldn't be allowed to vote..what do they know about running a country or politics in general..everyone should stick to what they know and leave the running of the country to May, Corbin and co and the running of the football club to the current chairman.....although did you like Cortese? If not perhaps when he was in charge the rules should have been different and criticism allowed? - let us all know what we are allowed opinions on and when wont you?
