  1. Maldini was nearly 39 when he won the Champions League for AC Milan against the Scousers.
  2. Well, he could also provide very useful LB cover if we’re playing a 4-4-2 or 4-2-2-2, I would say. Think he would be a potentially excellent signing. I would sign him just for his shithousery personally.
  3. You need the UI for scoops…. 😉 https://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/southampton/forum/288546/don´t-shoot-the-messenger-..-verthongen-on-a-free-from-benfica/#6
  4. So Garner is possibly JWP’s replacement in 12 months, whereas Lavia is Oriol’s replacement now???
  5. Forest will be absolutely fine. They have an excellent manager, and have bought well. We will play very few worse sides than Leeds this season. They are one of the three sides we have to finish above, along with Fulham and Boscombe.
  6. Madness to let Adams go, particularly to a likely relegation rival; he’s a whole-hearted player who has got steadily better each season. Not prolific, but then we are hardly prolific in creating great chances.
  7. Isn’t Hudson-Odoi on over £100k a week?? He’s not what we need. We need two strikers and a no-nonsense CB in ASAP.
  8. I assume that Redmond was brought on by Hassenhutl in the 92nd minute to spite Che Adams. God knows why else he would have made that substitution other than if finance was in the mix….
  9. I thought that was Lee Holmes (?)….
  10. Didn’t he do an utterly ridiculous handball in the last game of the season which went a long way to relegating Burnley?
  11. Perry Groves wasn’t a great investment…..
  12. Just read on SKY that McKennie has been offered to Burnley on loan from Juve. Think we were after him last year. Could be an option.
  13. Agreed. We shouldn’t go overboard on Tino. Players often have a really promising start when nobody has heard of them, and then the oppo get clued up and suss out how to nullify them.
  14. Could do a lot worse than Schar. Though I think Worrall would have a more imposing presence.
  15. Guardiola’s No. 2 is much the same. Says bugger all in games. Having seen the “All or Nothing” show on Amazon Prime about City, they even employ a bloke who is an ex water polo international who is basically a very good mate of Guardiola…..
  16. Wonder if Forest would be interested in Obafemi or Shane…..
  17. I like him; he seems a genuine guy and he puts up with the edicts from above about how the club operates financially. But it’s blindingly obvious that we cannot keep on losing games.
  18. People who post the sort of “you’re just a rubbish fan if you want Ralph out, go and support Pompey” drivel are presumably the type of sheep who clap the team off at the end of the game after a 9-0 humbling or an utterly hapless performance in Prague. Get real. We have been total crap since January. If you accept crap, that is what you will be given in spades.
  19. Probably doesn’t matter. Pretty nomadic industry, football. Lampard didn’t move much in his playing career, so not having to uproot family might be a bigger deal for him than somebody like Pochettino, who was quite happy for his family to live in a different country while he managed in England. I don’t think Lampard would want to work for us though.
  20. There is as much chance of Steven Gerrard being our manager as there is of me being in a threesome with Liz Hurley and Kate Beckinsale.
  21. Lampard has a pad in Poole (well, Studland to be precise….)
  22. I think he might have become a Dad pretty recently. He might decide that it’s an easier life going down the Carragher / Gary Neville route. Howe left Bournemouth as he hadn’t spent much time with his wife and young kids over the years. It may be that after a year out of the game he is fully motivated to get back in. I do think Howe is destined for the very top. He is still very young in management terms.
  23. He would never have come to us given our transfer policy.
  24. Very true. Although I think the compensation to Ralph would be pretty expensive. If we don’t spend much of the Ings / Vestergaard money and get a couple of loan signings instead, I think we can see where a contingency pot has been set aside for….
  25. He hasn’t. He did an excellent job at Derby and didn’t do badly at all at Chelsea. I’m not convinced he would be a good fit for us though. I’m not sure he would put up with the financial constraints. Think Howe would be more accepting of it.
