  1. I was only 9, so not quite as scary. Still, I've got vivid memories of that period. My best mate, an avid Duran Duran fan, dropped his theory that George Michael was gay, largely wanting to spite his mum and sister. "Don't be so ridiculous, his mum said. Look at how many girls like him!"
  2. Perspective. [video=youtube_share;IYwf2SBWa5o]
  3. Fear not for the subtlety of wit. It is not dead.
  4. Pre-programmed with Championship grounds for potential future-proofing, locations of players houses for the benefit of agents, burglars or Brendan Rogers (real time in/out info to be provided by Essruu). Pre-order customers will receive a code to download the "Ralph Krueger's: Where the f**k am I, and what the f**k do I do here?" app.
  5. The last game I was this curious about a Saints game was Poch's first game against Everton. My big fear for this season, not yet fully voiced on here, is that Koeman and company won't deliver the goods. A victory would be a tremendous way to start the season, but we're coming up against a team that battered Dortmund in pre-season, so I'll take positives from seeing a bit of intent, a semblance of a plan or something that looks like it'll be genuinely viable on another day. I don't expect to win. Heart says we've potentially got the element of surprise, because let's face it, this Shoushampton team is brand shpanking new. Head thinks we're going to get a brand new spanking.
  6. A rousing call to arms on the eve of the season. Great vid.

I think you have to be a little bit mad to play hurling. Really an all or nothing game.
  8. There is more to look forward to, according to RK's presser today. Don't think the club can be faulted for effort.

    Anfield Pubs?

The area around Liverpool One has quite a few bars anyway, Lord D - it's family friendly with most of them also serving food. I've also been hearing loads of good things about the Baltic Fleet. http://www.balticfleetpubliverpool.com/
  10. She's one of the most charismatic front persons I've seen. Caught them in Belfast off the back of their third album. I really like the YYYs, but Fever To Tell is a masterpiece - don't think they ever put out a consistently good record since.
  11. Well I wish him well. Thanks to the journey up and down the years, there have been a lot of players to make a "temporary" impact before being deemed surplus to requirements. I'll remember the likes of Harding, Hammond and especially Sharp fondly. It's a testament to the club that we rose too fast to accommodate players like Forte any longer than we did.

Georgian Quarter is pretty much all real ale stuff, with the added benefit of women being about.
  13. Was in the Irish office alone listening to this game over Internet radio. Didn't see the goals, just heard them go in; still a top moment. Can't remember him doing anything before or since. The footballer equivalent of a disposable barbecue.

    Anfield Pubs?

If anyone is getting there a bit earlier, or on Saturday, my favourite spot is the Georgian Quarter in town. http://www.liverpoolunderlined.com/georgian-quarter-pub-crawl/ Well recommended if you want to avoid much of the chain shíte.

The Arkles is where we were last year. Packed to the rafters, normally. I haven't managed to get tickets this year, which is unfortunate.
  16. Nah, I'm keenly aware that I'm well out of touch with stuff. If in doubt, leave it out. The alternative is making a fuss about something you know nothing about, like when Turkish put a Papa Lazarou avatar up and certain posters thought he was trying to evoke Al Jolson.
  17. This'll be the first game since Poch established himself where I really don't know what is going to happen, or how we're going to play. Our defence should give them plenty of opportunity, particularly with Florin out injured. Still, at least Fonte has played with Yoshi before, and when I think back to the Adkins era, rightly or wrongly, it was the likes of Hooiveld and Fox that showed themselves to be real liabilities in the Prem. Bertrand can't be worse than Fox, surely? I've not really been watching the friendlies, so don't really have an idea of what our pressing game looks like now.
  18. Did a great job keeping Crystal Palace's Prem season from burning down last year, but I get the feeling that Pulis at any club for any serious length of time would just be an invite for agents representing freakishly tall players

Must have been the postman. We weren't getting milk delivered at the time.
  20. Or here, if RK doesn't cut it. Like it or not, the bloke now has a rep for yanking teams out of the crap and keeping them in the Prem.
  21. You also told us that the Florin Gardos deal was dead, tbf mush.
  22. Just about prefer the Pennis/Hansen encounter. [video=youtube_share;DEDbXUWEzjk]http://youtu.be/DEDbXUWEzjk

King's College London. Think it was the last place we looked at, but her first choice thereafter. Wasn't too keen initially, which probably spurred her on if I'm honest. Pleased now though.
  24. Baby Jesus would be the number 1 shirt. Jesus saves.

Took my daughter to Sheffield, and many other places as she was making her deliberations. Looked to be a good city, but don't be too disheartened if the re-mark doesn't go well. Uni, more than any other form of education you've done so far, is about what you can learn yourself, not what you're taught. What are you hoping to study?
