I really dislike the man. I did consider dropping the enmity, but listening him wail on about "same old England" during the Euros and his assurances that Gaston won't be coming to Southampton topped all my Lawro bile reserves right back up. I'm also old enough to remember him saying "I fear for Southampton" at the beginning of each Prem season. Blert. If we are successful in landing Ramirez, someone should do a YouTube compilation vid entitled "Lawro tells it how it isn't". Plenty of material.

Actually played last night, but only with the clan. My youngest won.

How does being a closet gigolo square with your Christian beliefs? Are you a Mormon?

I voted yes in the poll. Bologna are just "giving it", as we Flower Estate types like to say (silent trailing g's and t's, naturally). It's very easy to create a sh!tstorm online, and probably worth it if it puts pressure on a club to agree to your terms. I have no doubt that they're feeding stories to reputable Italian journalists, who'll happily translate and regurgitate for unwitting would-be Twitter followers. Bit of disinformation well covered by a few million euros net gain. We're playing chicken with the Bolognese, who in turn, are playing chicken with the transfer deadline. There are no confirmed bids save ours. This transfer saga may rumble on a while longer and they've drummed up old suitors. Everyone seems ready to make a bid but no-one has actually made a bid. If this thing gets through the rest of the day without a confirmed bid from a European qualifier, their flush is completely busted. If not, I'll be proved wrong - and will fulfil my forfeit in good grace. But I've a cheeky suspicion that "the cheeky f*ckers are just giving it". Ah, roots.
-
I'm sticking to my guns and saying it will happen. Forfeit: treat the trolls with respect for a week.

Not sure if I was one of these on Friday, but I think it'll go through. The only evidence I've seen that it won't is people losing their sh!t over it. Do want it wrapped up though, as does any Sotonian with work commitments, I'd wager

Apart from when he has bad news, presumably? Nixon was the national journo who reported friction between NA and NC. He wasn't "right" then. (or was he?)

I'd be getting wound up except I saw people say exactly the same about the Cork and Sharp deals - Cork particularly. These typically take a greater deal of time than we fans are happy with Reading between the lines, I think we've got him - we're just waiting for complete confirmation before announcing it.

Never good enough for England, either. Who told me that? Why, he did - when he pulled on a Republic of Ireland shirt. See also: Andy Townsend.

Always amazed me how the lottery is run by a private company. I know the public sector can be fairly crap, but surely they can do this?

I do not post on this thread much, but hats off to rallyboy for his tremendous services to translation. He understands Portspin so we don't have to.
-
Blimey. Hope we haven't got him "Saints fat". Good to hear, though. I will be gutted if we don't land this boy.
-
Considering what passes for normal on this board, I think he should consider your designation a compliment.

On JFK, he's about as odd as the last official US investigation, which concluded that Kennedy was very likely assassinated as part of a conspiracy involving elements of the US Government. Let's have a bit less of knocking the poster, eh? Been through it myself, and it's reductive on both sides of the exchange*. * although I do reserve the right to use bullets (magic or otherwise) in a gun fight.

Didn't see your thread before I posted. I think that collectively, we're referring to two different miserable basts!

Nope, and neither did I. I learned my lesson on this a long time ago, before FB existed. Had a tumultuous relationship with a rather flaky lady. On and off more times than a kettle on a building site. Made the mistake of informing all and sundry. In the end, decided to keep my trap shut until I was fairly sure of the outcome. As for the 5-0 prediction? Sure he wasn't alone. Ms pap actually had a lot more faith than me. But it does illustrate the folly of not thinking about what you put on FB without thinking about it.
-
Yeah, this. Fellow Saints fan predicted a 5-0 City win yesterday. Even if you think it, don't always have to share it.
-
The "simple status" must be shared. Sorry, kwsaint - you sound like one my kids giving a limited account of how an argument started ( e.g All I did was.... )

Interesting thread, although I think a better title would be "Pussy whipped anonymous". I'm not a member.

The scoreline is flattering us a bit. City have had loads of chances that could have been put away easily. Can't really say the same for us. Great effort so far - Clyne looks the business. It's distressing to see City tear the defence apart, but they are City. We'll do well against less expensively assembled squads.
-
Superb effort so far. Fair play to Webb for not bowing to pressure after Clyne's tackle on Aguero.

Successful enterprises often have an element of internal conflict. When Nige came in, Cortese held all the cards. Adkins has had a degree of success that insulates him from an instant sacking. While Cortese technically has the power to do it, it could come at the cost of disharmony in the squad, disillusionment in the fans and negative press. Hence Nige has his shot in the Prem. He'll get his chance, but he'll need to deliver quickly to hold onto his job.

Well, I'm not prostrating myself before a deity, but we feel the same things. I am bricking it, just want the match over but at the same time, am amazingly excited. The return to the Premiership has been a long time coming and shocking big teams in games like these has always been a highlight of being a Saints fan. That all said, yep, let's keep it respectable.

It's easy to attract a lot of attention by saying controversial things. It's what passes for journalism these days.
